This was one of the times I'm glad I live in the middle of fuck-all nowhere. No weirdos with sign or guns outside the polling place, no long lines, entire voting process took 5 minutes. Got Zaxby's afterwards and it tasted like freedom.
I'm assuming these weirdos are in major cities? I live in a modest sized city 60k+. In and out basically.

Stay frosty out there y'all.

It's not outdated. It's a perfectly legitimate law that discourages vote buying.

If you think people are using social media as a vote-buying operation these days rather than just showing who you voted for, then you're just fear mongering. It USED to be a legitimate law, but an outright ban these days is absolutely stupid.

The idea is actually quite simple. Say I issue this ultimatum: vote for who I tell you to or face a permanent ban from this site (just as a quick example). To prove that you have complied, you might provide a photo of your ballot at the polling place. If such a practice is illegal, I cannot make this threat. A much better example than a schmuck volunteer moderator of a gaming site making such a threat would be someone with money attempting to buy votes or an employer threatening termination if an employee doesn't comply with the company's preferred candidate.

Mind you, I get that it's kind of pointless. In a world of PhotoShop and sample ballots it'd be pretty easy to fake so why would someone even try to demand a photo as proof? But I understand the idea of discouraging the practice altogether.

And I think it has more to do with preventing extortion or employers from threatening employees if they do not vote for a candidate.

I have a lot to learn and I'm frankly absolutely confused and filled with self doubt in my life right now to the point of being in deep depression about it. I'm simply watching and trying to learn from it. I think it's okay to not know where you are as an individual and just watch. I don't know what to think of it all. It's a confusing mess and it troubles me.

It doesn't help that I have a lot less "liberal" views than almost everyone here, so it's hard to express myself and have a calm discussion. I have never let myself be exposed to so much liberal conversation before and I'm having a hard time processing it all, especially because I grew up in an ultra conservative demographic. My own poor education on politics/government hasn't helped either.

Google has a list and relating articles (snippets and full links) of Hillary and Trump positions on various issues:

Sorry to hear about your depression, but if you take a look here you can get a good sense of where each stand on a lot of topics (health care, gun rights, immigration, etc) and possibly create a more informed decision.

Hey man, if you give me proof that you voted for Trump, I got a mint still-wrapped Sonic Spinball with your name on it. He's a hedgehog, but now he's a spinball.
