Not that anyone is likely to read this at the rate this thread is going (and that's fine, of course) but speaking as someone who lived in Tampa Bay for quite a few years it is indeed accurate to describe Florida as two states sandwiched into one. It's always extremely close now because there is a huge thriving population of two completely separate ideologies all across that state.
 
Are states declared on the number of votes total for each candidate, or just the number of counties that have gone one way or the other?

As in, could HRC be narrowly losing in 99% of counties but if she has a massive win in 1%, that's enough to take the state?
