Soooooo...who's winning?

I'm not American so I have an excuse to be a bit ignorant. According to the statistics on Google, Trump is ahead? That can't be right.

I'm surprised how things are going more in Trump's direction.

In retrospect, it is plausible that polls are skewed in Clinton's direction because there's:
1. Old people getting polled on landlines which think Trump is indecent
2. Younger men thinking Trump will shake shit up

Mildly concerned - a Trump victory would be toxic. The guy is a piece of shit.

No one has called any of the swing states yet. Not even Georgia has been called.

Where the fuck are the people that voted for Obama in Florida in this election? Like what the hell happened that made Florida go red for this?

I don't think I can watch this anymore. I'm starting to get legitimately saddened. This country hasn't, and likely never will give a fuck about minorities. It's hard enough as it is to be black in this country, and I don't in anyway see it getting better if Trump is president. Hell, given the amount of people voting for Trump, even if Hillary wins I doubt things get better.

Are we really gonna have to deal with 4 years of Trump? I was getting fucking sick of hearing about him and his antics and ready for this to be over.

You're German, right? That NYT thing is so volatile that it isn't even worth looking at until 11 PM EST or so.

yeah I admit I'm not all that informed about the accuracy of the different predictions, but to say this isn't at all concerning seems a bit dumb

not many expected it to go that way

Those people who hate Trump but voted for him think he's just not bad enough for him to lose their vote.

They think it's ok that the man they voted for says that I'm a criminal just because of my Mexican heritage.

They may say they're don't hate me, but they're alright with putting those who do in charge.

This is why we all hate politics and politicians. With Clinton it's her e-mails, intent, didn't understand certain rules, excuses, etc. With Trump it's him saying that some Mexican immigrants are criminals (true, with some high-profile cases that he's fear-mongering with), and he's an unlikable asshole about it. But his detractors say he hates all Mexicans or some hyperbolic bullshit, and Trump supporters says he's only talking about the criminals, and round and round we go. Again, same with Clinton, and things that were likely not her fault, or only by proxy (Benghazi, for instance), getting overblown to the point where we get the hyperbolic bullshit that it's all her fault somehow. Now we have trigger words for each side. Benghazi and e-mails, Mexicans and Muslims, and none of it gets us anywhere.

Look beyond the headlines and just glancing at articles and taking things out of context and actually look at the transcripts or reports and think for yourself. You'll find that they can be wildly different.

Everyone on gaf likes to say racism and shit, but counties in Ohio that were overwhelmingly Obama seemed to have switched to Trump. The alienation of blue collar workers cannot be entirely blamed on racism. I really think a populist like Bernie would have slaughtered Trump based on these results.
Yep

How about we blame the DNC for choosing unfavorable candidates and not independent candidates for putting their hat in the ring?

You think this country hates you because they voted for someone you don't agree with? The "country" does not hate you because you're a black woman. There are 330 million people in this country, 28% of which are non-white. About 50% are women. Not every man, or white man, hates you. Of course there's assholes out there, but don't ignore that many people (very) begrudgingly voted for Trump, and actively dislike him. Part of the reason Trump got this far is because people also hate Clinton...Trump running against Al Gore or Obama would have turned out differently.

He's made made racism, sexism and generally being a sleazy fart a prominent part of his life and campaign. Somehow almost every single other country is able to see a clear choice but americans. I cannot blame her for those feelings if you still consider this guy worthy a vote despite knowing how he regards minorities.

People need to stop telling others to calm down.

For Americans, this is of genuine concern - people don't want this guy because of his policies and stances etc. They're rightfully, as voting citizens of the USA, scared for their futures etc.

Cut people the slack.

Anyways, I'm off to bed - good luck USAGAF, you know now how we felt during Brexit.

I don't know too much about American politics due to not being American. But doesn't the PTUS have very little power in what to do? Doesn't congress get to vote on what the president wants to do, and therefore be able to deny the request? I'm dumb, sorry...

Where the fuck are the people that voted for Obama in Florida in this election? Like what the hell happened that made Florida go red for this?

Isn't turnout for both Dems and Reps up from 2008/2012? It's more about Trump over performing than Clinton underperforming.
