I sure as hell am not happy about this but I think it's too early to despair. I feel like Trump is a lot more bark than he is bite.

5am here, just changed my 2 month olds diapers, read the news, can't sleep now thinking about what kind of (even worse) world he will grow up in now.

This is the stuff of dystopian movie nightmares.

America, what have you done?

Special prosecutor incoming?

That's some tyrant stuff right there.

I honestly feel polls should be banned. They serve no purpose and have been constantly wrong in recent elections from Canada to the UK and the US. They provide nothing of value and make campaigns fucking stupid as they are constantly measuring every single fucking event to the polls. Fuck polls.

You guys realize Trump even as president cannot just make ridiculous decisions right? Really blows my mind reading some of the things you guys say. There are laws, congress is in place to vote his ass right out of he does anything crazy. The president doesn't have THAT much power, he still has to get everything passed.
The Republican Congress and Republican Senate?

Nah, you don't get to lecture me or anyone else on how we are supposedly responsible for inequality or that we are racist. Keep living in your absurdly manufactured reality where you can paint all republicans with such a broad brush. This is exactly the outcome you all deserve for mislabeling and generalizing so many people.
Right, because just because you're voting for Trump doesn't mean you endorse his views, even if you know he'll assuredly act on them in office.

Right.

Hillary was by all standards a good candidate. Americans apparently think life is a TV show and likes shitty empty slogans. Ya'll would rather have your Scandal show come to life than get something kinda boring.

Hillary is a qualified candidate and probably a great person, but she's absolutely the wrong candidate for this climate. Two change candidates running against each other would have been better than this bloodbath.

She killed the democratic party because it was her turn.

Don't know him personally so no. All I know his he represents us Americans who don't want 4 more years of Obama. Like I pay for birth control with my healthcare. I'm a man. I don't need to be paying for this shit and Drumpf will fix this and rid corruption in US government. He is the President we need at this time.

He will do neither, but good job helping elect this fuckwit. Look forward to the most corrupt government in modern US history.

Do you really not think he is the golden child of the republican party right now? Tomorrow, every single one of those republicans who stopped supporting him will be kissing his shoes.

I'm on the exact same shit that the majority of Americans are on that don't like where America is going. If that's a tough pill to swallow you should probably think about leaving America. Of course if you even live here and understand the problems us American people have with our government.

Yknow, I could pile on like the million other posts, but I think these are the millions of Americans who swung the vote who you didn't hear from in the "do you know any Trump supporters...?" Threads.

I'm flabbergasted tonight, disappointed and worried for people who will truly suffer under a Trump presidency and an emboldening by the alt right, but I think we were all naive and stupid too. Too much back patting, too much thinking we're so smart and sophisticated, and everybody else is a racist misogynist. Those things may be true. Many Trump supporters are probably racist mysgonists, but the mentality lost us an election that was supposedly a sure thing.

Maybe that's just my anger and disappointment talking though. I've never been so wrong about an election in my life.

Except the Republicans have the House and the Senate.

I'm a Canadian so I don't know as well, what can be done to block him?

Trump is not going to be President forever. You guys are absurd.

MSNBC is reporting the Canadian immigration website has crashed. 😂

I think your anger may be misdirected.

Gee I hope third party voters are happy now.

whut, why? because they exercised their democratic right? you could argue that "it's the fault of hillary voters", they could've voted jill stein and then she'd win, amirite?

only 2 types of people to blame: trump voters to begin with, and then hillary herself. her image just didn't do her any good, and that's primarily why she lost.

True. A completely red Senate and House doesn't bode well though. Also judge pick.

I'm trying to imagine Donald Trump at the podium during during a State of the Union address and, in between smatterings of applause, closes out the night by saying "...God bless the United States of America" and I just can't do it.

Well certainly pulling my money out of the market first thing in the morning till that shit settles out, going to be a 10℅ sell off at a minimum.

Judge pick is by far the most impactful thing of all of this. Will affect America long after he is gone.

If the president wanted he could outright ignore the decisions of the supreme court. It would cause a constitutional crisis but he could do it.

The biggest takeaway from this is that people are fucking stupid.

Yep, including the people who genuinely believe concentration camps will come back and minorities will be shot in the streets.

Like I get the disappointment, the disgust, the worry that the country will be run by an idiot who's all talk and all bluster.

But speaking as someone who did not vote for Trump but who does advocate rationalism, I'm pretty sure that genocide isn't going to get legalized.

Just a feeling.

First Brexit, now Trump. Germany might as well elect a fucking Nazi next year. Everything seems to be possible with the idiocy going around.

I am legit shook. I feel with you Americans who are directly impacted by this idiot.
