They might not be racist, but they support a racist. Their grievances, no matter how legit, don't change that unfortunately.The other day I stated that while racism is a factor in Trump's appeal to so many people it's not the only motivation, to which I of course got dogpiled. Any suggestion that Trump could be receiving support from your typical, ordinary, every day American who has no issue with minorities is dismissed.
There are a LOT of angry working class people in formally industrialised parts of the US who are now unemployed and blame Washington and globalisation for their troubles. Labelling these people racists for supporting Trump is simplistic and perhaps a reason for Clinton's imminent defeat. If the Dems hope to take back the WH and Congress they're going to need to start listening and taking on board legitimate grievances held by ordinary Americans.
