Trump has an edge because he promised people in the rust belt and coal miners and industrial workers that he would save their jobs when that's literally not possible.

Agreed, here is the problem with the Dems message though. They don't seem to able to answer what those people should do now that those jobs are almost gone.

Never forget.

Wait, GAF. Are we in the blaming phase? You have to tell me before you start.

I don't want to hear about how Bernie, Fox, Bernie supporters, Comey, Putin, Democracy, Fallon, guns, the media, your dog, etc are at fault for Hillary losing. Give me heads up before you start, please.

True, but he is really an outsider compared to the many President's we had in the past. There are some angry whites in parts of the country and like CNN said, they are making themselves heard.

Bernie Sanders was never going to appeal to them. His position would never promise "I'll bring back your jobs", in fact Hillary tried to address those people.

Trump just flat out lied to them to get his way.

I voted Bernie in the primaries. I was then told I was a moron and I should let it go because he was "unelectable" because he was too out there. I then voted Hillary and was led to believe she was a shoe in over Trump.

I find it hard to see how he could have done any worse than Hillary here. She wasn't even able to win over a sexist reality TV star. Kinda wishing more people would have went Bernie.

Bernie wouldn't have fared better.

This wasnt about Clinton

I'm a Hillary supporter and I'm disappointing in the outcome but dammit this thread is the best thread in all of gaf. Its hilarious as hell.

It's hilarious that people are reacting to the loss of your candidate against an authoritarian, narcissistic psychopath having control of the white house with an all Republican congress and at least another generation of a shitty conservative SCOTUS? haha man, yeah hilarious!

So, it's quarter to seven in the morning here in Germany and I've just rolled out of bed. What the ever-loving fuck.

No matter who wins in the end, the mere fact that it got this close is damning. You done fucked up, US.

After the Brits go insane, the US collectively loses their shit. What ... The... Gnaaaaahkgskhbksjkn

6AM in the UK. Just woke up staring at my phone wide-eyed at this thread. Crazy what's happening.

I wonder what will happen now that Trump has the Presidency. Will the left and even parts of the right band together like they did under Bush?

Unfortunately, i don't think the two situations are very similar....

This. More union households voted Trump than Hillary. That sends a message that even they are not secure with their jobs.

This is an extremely radical shift in US politics. The Dems lost ALL of the former union vote. The title of this election should really be: The Rust Belt Strikes Back. With the Boomer generation of FDR dems pretty much dead, these blue states filled with ignored union voters who typically always go Dem have revolted. As I saw someone Fox News say, the Dems nominated an elitist when the country wanted a populist.
Yup. This is exactly what happened. Mix in a few dog whistles for good measure and... There you have it.

I don't even know who's to blame right now.

Any chance Trump gets sick of the job and quits?

Any at all?

Mike Pence is likely the person to truly fear here, he is a dangerous career politician. His will how heavy influence over American policy and if Trump quits or is impeached it will only give him more power.

He finally said what none of the pundits said tonight; this was a whitelash. Sure the distrust of the establishment and "draining the swamp" was a huge part of it but numbers like this for trump say one thing loud and clear to me. Fuck minorities

As I posted earlier its really not just that though, and even Van admitted as much. There is a lot going on here.

But its a really nice debate, I am glad to see the respect they are giving one another and having some good ass convo

Don't alienate the majority of voters by telling them they are deplorables, racist, sexist, not relevant anymore, etc. Will be completely lost by the mainstream media who will continue the drum beat of blaming people for "voting wrong".

Clinton by the way had FEWER latino and black voters than Obama.

God, I'm so tired of reading this.

What are we supposed to call supporters of a man who opened up his campaign by threatening to deport Hispanics, build a wall along a Southern border and questioned the integrity of a judge because he was Mexican?

I swear, it's like all people think is required to not be considered racist in 2016 is to not call a black person a "n***er" while they doing and supporting things that can only be described as racist.

Repealing Obamacare should be interesting. How can they just pull the rug out on 25mil people with health insurance?

Easy, just tell those people Obamacare was bad, and that the new health care plan is better. Just keep saying it again and again, and it becomes true. If someone suffers, they would have suffered worse under Obamacare. If someone says Obamacare was better for them, Obamacare was unsustainable and they would have suffered more in the long run.

So if Trump is really that bad as President, won't the house go blue in two years? Not exactly clear how often people vote for the house and senate.

Due to the way congressional districts are set up, it will take an absolutely massive groundswell in a part of the cycle where Democrats rarely turn out in large numbers, so it's very unlikely. They may have a chance at the Senate, but I haven't even looked at which seats will be up for re-election then.

He'd have to do something to really rile up a huge portion of the electorate for him to lose the house in 2018.

And that's not even considering the likelihood of voter disenfranchisement laws to be passed in the interim. It will be a huge uphill battle.

Trump is ahead 30k in PA at 97% reporting in.

Obamacare is done
Climate change legislation is done
The senate, house and SCOTUS will all be controlled by modern tea party supporting republicans

This is the most hellish political scenario I could imagine for this country. A rapist is about to reach the highest office in the land. I blame white republican voters, the DNC, Hillary and Debbie.

Hillary killed the Democratic party. The DNC was rotten with her supporters.

This is absolutely the truth.

Wouldn't launching nukes require a declaration of war? Which has to go through congress first? I realize all of congress is going to be red, but I doubt that is still just a given, especially with nukes.
Congress is fully Republican and wars can be started without the approval of Congress for like 90 days or something
