This is an extremely radical shift in US politics. The Dems lost ALL of the former union vote. The title of this election should really be: The Rust Belt Strikes Back. With the Boomer generation of FDR dems pretty much dead, these blue states filled with ignored union voters who typically always go Dem have revolted. As I saw someone Fox News say, the Dems nominated an elitist when the country wanted a populist.

Maybe America isn't so great right now with Obama as the plurality of people here in GAF thinks. (I'm not in US).

I voted Bernie in the primaries. I was then told I was a moron and I should let it go because he was "unelectable" because he was too out there. I then voted Hillary and was led to believe she was a shoe in over Trump.

I find it hard to see how he could have done any worse than Hillary here. She wasn't even able to win over a sexist reality TV star. Kinda wishing more people would have went Bernie.

Hillary lost major states she could/should have won by pretty narrow margins. I mean WI, MI and PA There are a lot of people out there who basically voted anti-establishment, on both sides. For you to confidently say that Sanders wouldn't have fared any better is pretty ridiculous. I could see it having gone both ways to be honest, but there are absolutely quite a few votes out there that didn't go to Hillary that would have gone to Sanders.

This was very clearly the election of the anti-establishment and the Dems fucking blew it nominating Hillary. Their mistake was going with a fucking snoozer of a candidate who has demonstrable likability problems, not to mention decades of highly exploitable baggage regardless of that not really being her fault. People have been saying it for months, and the smugness of Hillary supporters here in the face of all the criticisms laid against her really looks pretty sad now.

I really did not see this happening, though. I will admit that. I am legit in shock. I voted for Hillary (and Feingold) here in WI btw.

I remember during the debates, I posted Hilary was not very charismatic and her speeches were mediocre at best (they were like bad wrestling promos with the pauses). People lambasted me here for it, which I thought was surprising since I felt it was obvious and despite me being against Trump.
