Message I just received from a university friend who lives in the Carolinas. I thought I'd share to provide some perspective.

As much as I used to try to deny it (I don't even know why...) - I'm a minority and I don't feel as safe as I used to in the US.

There's actually a racist hate group located in the town I live in... There are Trump signs everywhere. I suppose it's best that I hide - I'm the only Asian in a sea of racist white people, it seems. There's no delicate way to put it, to be honest. Although a Democrat governor did win, Trump won the electoral votes from this state. Kinda weird.

You know what's also a bit scary? My dad's a conservative. He keeps his guns in his house. He just said earlier today, "We may be in a Civil War at any moment."
