For this to happen, a state would have to pass a ban on same-sex marriage, it would have to be appealed up several courts, get to the Supreme Court, and then this new Supreme Court would have to remove the right. Even if 5 Supreme Court justices in June 2017 wanted to get rid of same-sex marriage, there'd have to be a bunch more factors in place.

Not that I disagree with you, but I would not be surprised if the stars aligned to give the supreme court such a trial.
