Hillary was a mistake but it was "her turn". Polling showed her own party had a large majority of disgust for her. It literally came down to the fact Trump was complete shit in their eyes so they had to vote for Hillary.

That is not how an election should go. Trump won an election by beating the Democrats and the Republicans. Politics got so Toxic it came down to a sad situation like this

Ya it seems like the "its your turn" candidates tend to always be a big mistake for both parties.

Eight years was almost long enough to learn how to be proud of being American.

Tonight at work, a woman burst into tears in the middle of buying $100 of liquor because she started talking about the election. That was before we knew.

When I got home, I provided historical context (mostly italian) to a friend's son who didn't understand why every adult he knew was melting down. He's 15 and black. He's never known anything but Obama.

I feel like I need to drink more, but I know it won't help and I'll vomit. Time to sleep and hope my brain can turn this into something palatable.

For me as a non-American President Trump's electoral success is a sign that American democracy is still healthy. You have to give credit where credit is due. Almost the complete establishment and media was against him, still the people elected the person they deemed most fit and didn't let themselves persuaded to vote against their perceived interest.

Democracy is not healthy if people vote against their real interests because they are too fucking ignorant to know better.

We need to understand that there are a lot of horrible people in this country. I have lost all respect for them, and that respect can never be regained. Fuck them. Forever. Sorry, but I can't be remotely gratious about this. I will always, forever, despise the cretins that voted for this. Fuck all those assholes, always, and forever.

This thread also confirms for me what I have suspected for a while: that the U.S. educational system has been well and truly overtaken by leftist teachers and teachings.

Try to keep an open mind and think critically for yourself; I think eventually some of you will come around.

God bless America and all of its people. I don't know what Trump will bring, but I know what Clinton told us she'd bring, and it is not the stuff that made America the greatest country in the world.

The lack of empathy here on both sides is abhorrent. Everyone is either a cartoon villain racist or some bleeding heart hippy. People are complex animals, with varying experiences, communities, and needs. This leads to differing worldviews and opinions. Believe it or not, it wasn't a choice between two clone candidates, only one was a racist, sexist shit bag and the other a saint. The vast majority of people on Trumps side weren't voting for "fuck yeah racism! Grab them minorities by the pussy!" the same way that Clinton voters weren't voting for "take all the money away from hard working Americans."
That so many people in these threads have so little empathy towards their fellow man to distill their unique personal interests into these crude mockeries of reasoning is disturbing.

Pretty much this.

I think this comes into play, heck it happened in Canada our Ontario government won after screwing the province over so hard it wasn't even funny, we voted them in again for the better changes to people of all types, but right now all we have gotten is broken promises and massive debt and they have calls for resignation and the lowest support ratings imaginable.

Trump is an asshole, but maybe the left being so smug about their ensured victory didn't help the matter, people clearly didn't trust Clinton yet loved Obama (I would take Obama over Trudeau's fake act any day in Canada) I mean maybe the whole if you don't agree with us 100% you are racist/homophobic/sexist/etc attitude starting rubbing people the wrong way.

I have political points from both liberal and conservative, but ideally I'd want a central government not one that goes nuts one way or the other.

I guess what I am getting at is it's not fine to be banning the right but empowering the left, everyone should be meeting in the middle with equal say and rights.

For an open minded site, it's gross seeing the accusations being flung around here at people who participated in democracy the same as everyone else no matter which way they voted.

This is the silver lining of this election. We can no longer tolerate "good enough" or "less bad than the other guy" or "obligated to elect" candidates.

If we don't have a candidate with a voice and a vision and an inspiration for the people all of their own accord, don't even put them on the ballot.

Or they should do like you and the rest of the Trump supporters and just not think at all. Vote for feels, not facts.

People just want a guy who is going to tell them what they want to hear. Trump is good at that. He's a career con man.

Yeah the stuff America is made of is the oppression of minorities.

What the fuck are you even talking about?

So, Hillary will be speaking to her supporters after a night's sleep (presumably).

This can go two ways:

We mustn't give into hate, we must protest in a non-violent manner, and prepare to fight as a grass-roots community, holding close everything we hold dear.

OR

I tried to help you, America. I tried to guide you forward. I tried to make this country and the world a safer place for all of us. But you gave into hate. You gave into lies. And now you are on your own as your lives, your rights and your livelihoods are removed by the person you voted in. And when you are done being robbed in 4 years, the Democrat Party will come and help you. But until then, you are lost.

The first is obviously more likely, but fuck me, I'd love the second.

I'm glad you disputed all those facts with insults and feelings. Trying to live in Trumps image, eh?

I think most liberals on the internet disregarded the struggling, angry middle class white who was desperately looking for something to blame their frustrations on. Minorities, politicians, liberals. These are the people who won this election and Trump spoke directly to them and said exactly what they wanted to hear.

I'm fucking stunned but I honestly shouldn't be. I never thought it would be a blowout till I started drinking this fucking internet coolaid and believing social media that it was impossible that a man like this could ever be elected president.

This feels unreal.

It's a good thing because we can stop the class warfare, and maybe just get along as fellow Americans.

It's a good thing because we can get rid of this income-redistribution plan called Obamacare, and perhaps bring back some of those many doctors who have been disaffected and left the profession.

It's a good thing for law enforcement, who has been slandered and demonized and assassinated because of the astroturf movement that is Black Lives Matter.

It's a good thing for the national budget, which would go bust with the Democrats' spending and leave our country broken and bankrupt.

It's a good thing because despite what you have been told, half of Hispanics agree that open borders are a problem and that a legal path to citizenship is the only way to be fair to legal immigrants, blacks, and others looking to climb the jobs ladder.

It's a good thing because the president of the United States will not be indebted to foreign countries who have donated handsomely to the Clinton Foundation. U.S. interests will no longer be for sale for the personal enrichment of the Clinton family.

I could go on, but hopefully you will read up on things yourself and come to a more mature understanding of the way the world works, and America's noble place in the international community.

What the fuck did I just read?

A bigoted "billionaire" will stop class warfare.

Obama-care is a 2008 conservative buzzword.

Poor police are under attack from people who don't want police to kill them anymore.

Okay.

Okay.

I think it's less about Trump being a complete dick and more about how much people hated Clinton. The American people just told everyone they'd rather have an idiot than a criminal. She also displayed true colors when she wouldn't even come out and say thanks herself to the people that waited hours for her at Clinton HQ.
