I haven't gone to bed, I feel like I can't. This is so sickening, like I hate the idea that I could even feel normal a week from now, a month, a year. To think I can even just go about my day, and not think about how that man is in charge of America, the country I live and was born in. I'm white so I already know I won't be directly targeted, but for Minorities? The LGBTQ community? I feel so fucking sick.

Sorry to the mods if it just feels like I'm writing blogs with some of my posts. This election is just unbelievable :/

People voted for Brexit now have coins and notes in their pockets worth 20-30% less than it used to be valued at, with signs only showing it falling even further.

Okay, people voted for it. That doesn't automatically qualify it as the right thing.

I'm going to admit right now that I have been a Trump supporter for over a year. But I didn't talk about it because I felt I'd be tarred and feathered over it. I saw the binary nature of us versus them on both sides and said 'I'm playing this close to the chest.' As for why I supported him, I wanted Trump to either destroy the Republican establishment because I was fed up with their lukewarm shit or change the world. And honestly? He got both and I'm ecstatic over it. For better or worse, I will own it. I understand all of the shit he said/did rubbed people the wrong way, and he definitely went overboard a few times. But I just wanted something different than DC insiders. Bernie, for all of the outsider talk, isn't an outsider. The dude looked like his soul was destroyed after endorsing Hillary, and his supporters felt cheated, and got validated from it via WikiLeaks. But honestly, that was a debate that I think would've been enlightening to everyone. But since it didn't (and probably won't due to Bernie's age) happen, we have to think about where we go from here.

In a democracy, people are allowed to make mistakes (if electing Donald Trump should sometime in the future prove to be a mistake).

Many (most?) people suffered in the last eight years. The rich got richer, the poor got poorer. Under Hillary Clinton these trends would have continued (maybe accelerated). With Donald Trump people at least can hope.

I understand why the American people elected President Trump.

As it stands now, by the combined vote totals for the main 2 parties, Over 11 million people less voted for the 2 parties, and 75% of those lost votes were on the democratic side.

Obama 12: 65.9 Million
Clinton 16: 57.6 Million

Romney 12: 60.9 Million
Drumpf 16: 58.1 Million

Now I know Cali will tighten up those numbers, but not nearly enough.
 
The alt right here in the Middle East seem pretty happy about this, with all the "I told you Americans hated you, join us".

Hint: "Unity" is code for minorities and their allies shutting the fuck up and allowing the GOP to do whatever it wants to do regardless of who gets hurt in the process. It doesn't mean any meaningful unification between various demographics.

Yup. The problem with liberal causes are that liberals aren't passionate enough to make them happen. They are also easily swayed to idealism in not accepting anyone that doesn't match their views 100%

Republican rhetoric is old and out dated. But new liberal ideas are hindered by squabbling on their perfection. Liberals will continue to lose downticket because frankly the people those ideas appeal are the same group that will be difficult to get motivated to vote

Congrats, Trump is going to "destroy the Republican establishment" by letting Mike Pence, Chris Christie, Newt Gingrich and Rudy Guiliani run the show and hold positions of power within the government. What an outsider. Mission accomplished. Totally legit and rational reason to support a bigot.

I've said this time and time again but some people have a very "you're either with me or against me" attitude which isn't going to accomplish anything. Human beings are capable of changing and learning. If more people actually look the time to try to have actual discussions instead of spouting accusations at each other then maybe some people would learn something. Once you accuse someone of being a racist/sexist/sjw etc or lump them into those camps because they simply don't agree with you then most people are going to tune out and not give a shit about what you have to say.
