Congrats, Trump is going to "destroy the Republican establishment" by letting Mike Pence, Chris Christie, Newt Gingrich and Rudy Guiliani run the show and hold positions of power within the government. What an outsider. Mission accomplished. Totally legit and rational reason to support a bigot.
I feel better already.

Boy empathy only one way towards straight white people sure is easy.

Oh the humble pie that is about to be swallowed by politicians around the world... Hollande said Trump made him sock.... British MP's tried to ban him from coming to the UK

you watch them all know.....complete 360 about to be done live

I'm not really a big political guy, I'll say flat out that I'm really not that educated on the detailed elements of Trump's plan.

One of my biggest issues as an American in my life has been healthcare. I have a chronic disease that can creep up at any time and hurt my ability to work and I've always fallen in a niche group that gets rejected for healthcare discounts and such and have always struggled to find affordable healthcare for the times where I'm out of work.

Not sure how Trump will affect people in my position either way. I do know Obamacare's "no rejections for pre-existing conditions" benefitted me greatly for a time... until the premiums got way too expensive. It was either high monthly premium or lower premium but large deductible. Making it incredibly hard to afford for me.

Anyone educated on what Trump will bring in this regard or people like me?

In a democracy, people are allowed to make mistakes (if electing Donald Trump should sometime in the future prove to be a mistake).

Many (most?) people suffered in the last eight years. The rich got richer, the poor got poorer. Under Hillary Clinton these trends would have continued (maybe accelerated). With Donald Trump people at least can hope.

I understand why the American people elected President Trump.

This economic depression started under W. Bush. So I don't know why you'd say it'd continue under Hillary and not Trump.

It's right wing economic policies that accelerate the divide between rich and poor anyway.

I can understand a "fuck it" vote for economic change, but there is no evidence or reason that Trump has any way forward on this issue.

Will this be the new Polygon chart? :D

No reaction from Germany yet?

Seems they are still shocked.

We have the AFD sitting in every state parliament which had an election in 2016. They even sometimes have more delegates then the SPD or CDU (the two 'huge' German parties) there.
So what's there to say. The same shit could happen to us in late 2017.

You do not really compare Trump to Hitler?

I do. Both are/were racist power hungry Populists who got democratically elected. Both promised to make their country great, both used miniritys, both lied, both used the same demogrpahic group.
I dont say that trump starts a world war.

But you are right. Hitler diddn't had a briefcase with a big red button that gives access to nuclear weapons. My bad.

Hate to break it to you, but you're completely fucked.

As it stands now, by the combined vote totals for the main 2 parties, Over 11 million people less voted for the 2 parties, and 75% of those lost votes were on the democratic side.

Obama 12: 65.9 Million
Clinton 16: 57.6 Million

Romney 12: 60.9 Million
Drumpf 16: 58.1 Million

Now I know Cali will tighten up those numbers, but not nearly enough.

I'm pretty sure the swing states had some big turn out, actually, regardless of the numbers being down overall.

do these people really exist?

I'm not going to humor anyone kicking "both sides" and frankly I think it should be banworthy
Further proving my point. Sorry I said something you disagree with. I know what'll fix it! Call for a ban! Surely these forums aren't for discourse. I prefer my chambers much more echoey.

You are not the greatest poster in NeoGAF and never have been. Kidding aside, the Constitution was an incredible achievement, and don't forget our involvement in WWII, that we put the first man on the moon, our medical and scientific advancements, etc. What country would you put as tops? The word, "great", is a pretty subjective world, I realize, but I gotta know what ground you're standing on here.

Why does it matter.

I think you mean 180. If you do a 360, you are back where you started.

I hope it's really a 360

I'm going to ask "Where's the wall?" every day of Trump's presidency. I wonder how they'll twist themselves to answer it every day it does not even get close to being done.

His plan is to get rid of Obamacare and then get rid of state lines.

So, almost nothing.

I don't know what country is the world's greatest, but I will tell you this: the idea that a country is superior to another, the idea that nation states should have dick contests according to their arsenal / sporting prowess / global influence only helps foster ethnocentrism in the minds of people. That one's country is already good and it doesn't need to learn from others or interact with others to improve itself. That it has already made it and therefore it has a moral obligation to teach lesser countries how to behave like it.

This election was a referendum on ethnonationalism versus globalisation. It has proven that, to the American populace, their pride on a stupid retrograde vision of America as the magnum opus of democracy and virtue is more important than actual cooperation with the international community.

Donald Trump has ended the Clintons' political careers, and for rendering this service to the republic he has my gratitude.

I agree.

I'm going to admit right now that I have been a Trump supporter for over a year. But I didn't talk about it because I felt I'd be tarred and feathered over it. I saw the binary nature of us versus them on both sides and said 'I'm playing this close to the chest.' As for why I supported him, I wanted Trump to either destroy the Republican establishment because I was fed up with their lukewarm shit or change the world. And honestly? He got both and I'm ecstatic over it. For better or worse, I will own it. I understand all of the shit he said/did rubbed people the wrong way, and he definitely went overboard a few times. But I just wanted something different than DC insiders. Bernie, for all of the outsider talk, isn't an outsider. The dude looked like his soul was destroyed after endorsing Hillary, and his supporters felt cheated, and got validated from it via WikiLeaks. But honestly, that was a debate that I think would've been enlightening to everyone. But since it didn't (and probably won't due to Bernie's age) happen, we have to think about where we go from here.
What does that even mean? What do you expect is going to happen here with someone who doesn't know anything about politics?

You understand all the shit he said? It sounds more like you just don't care.

I woke up to this and I'm literally shaking. How the fuck could we let this happen. Are we that dense???? Like seriously wtf. This is very frightening as a black man

It wont. Maybe 15-20%, but CDU and SPD will still stick together for a new coalition, if need be added with the Greens. It will be interesting in 2022 however, if the current trends keep on going.

Good news: You won't have to make that hard decision between high monthly premium or lower premium but large deductible anymore.

Bad news: It will be because you will be completely uninsured.

Some cold facts:

  • Putin has now free hand in Europe
  • Trump has access to the nuclear button starting next year. Trump, who can't control himself over Twitter
  • There are no independent checks and balances left in US coming next January
  • Bernie Sanders wasn't able to win even the Democratic primaries, get over it.

Next time take the celebrities out of the campaign. I can't begin to explain how bad it just comes across. Get rid of the corruption, build a party focused on the people and distance yourselves from big banks and choose someone that isn't the most disliked politician in recent times.

As a U.K. National and 'Remain' voter, I sort of know what close to half of America is going through.

Once the emotional response dies down, finger pointing and name calling, political figures need to take a long hard look at themselves. Too many every day people are disenfranchised with politics.

So much so a billionaire tycoon and reality TV star, with no political experience, won the most votes. How? Why?

I don't know the answers. I hope someone more aligned to my views finds the answers soon.

Guess you're a trump voter, you'll be surprise at what other countries have done in their history.

Awful shit to wake up too, heard nothing but laughter and mocking comments here in Norway. You are a literal joke now, I would laugh too if not for the millions affected by this.

Not sure what else there is to say. Good luck? Stay safe? I got nothing...
