Sky News just said if the people who voted for Gary Johnson had voted for Hilary Clinton she would of won the election
Right, because there's a good reason to assume that libertarians would vote for a liberal over a conservative.
Huh?

I have no idea how this will change Dem strategies moving forward. This is certainly the biggest political upset of my lifetime. How do Democrats regain a voting platform if people are seeking a change and willing to choose this?

Only if Trump and GOP fail to deliver their promises.

What's done is done.
Time to stop panicking and think of the future.

Stop hating and support the new president and your country.

Welcome President Trump.
These two things are pretty much incompatible if you're a minority. Trump's campaign pandered to and emboldened racists, xenophobes, misogynists... bigots of every stripe, really.

Minorities have very good reason to be nervous right now. Even if Trump doesn't follow through on his promises directly, he will empower a legion of establishment Republicans who have spent their careers keeping minorities down.

I hope obama shows up in PJs and chewing gum, smoking cigar. Peace bitches im out. Way to let me down one last time mother fuckers. ✌️ Then rides off in a harley with michelle

You failed him, United States. You failed him.

"economic anxiety" continues to make me laugh, as if the the minorities that rejected the shit out of him aren't dealing with the same shit.

Cos you have to reject him. Same with the UK. London's poor are ethnic, but they (we) had to vote remain for obvious reasons.

Doesn't change the fact that London has a 30% poverty rate, the highest inequality in the developed world, etc etc. In their big, Third Way shift to the centre, they left behind who lefties are supposed to give a shit about. Now this happens. Minorities can do their part out of greater fear of the racist man than the corrupt man, but the racist man by his very nature won't scare everybody.

Bernie won MI and WI in the Primaries. What more can be said? Economic empowerment is king.

But MY post that they quoted was about being anti-Hillary and yet they still chose to twist it into Pro Trump.

Again, this is a problem that needs to stop.
I already responded to you and said I was responding to your last sentence about not being an asshole to people that dont share the same point of view. Where did I twist what you said into you saying you were pro Trump? I was saying that people are allowed to be assholes to those that treat them as less than human. Considering Trump just won the election and that is what this topic is about that my response was relevant.

Do you mean you have to support him just because he's the president, or do you mean you were a supporter of him through out the elections? If it's the first, then that's weird. No one has to support him just because he's the president.
he will be my boss for a few years, thus I am obligated to support him in that sense.

They treated him like a viable candidate instead of a lunatic. People accepted it.

I actually think they treated him like a joke for a very long time. They gave him tons of free air time because he would say over the top statements with such confidence and not back down when challenged and was giving it to all these stiff suits in the GOP primary.

I know the comparisons will never stop but the UK voted to leave a European Union over 25 countries that has had major problems over the last 5 years. The laws and regulations are made in Belgium and you have a freedom of movement and pay around 240 million per week into it. America is not a member of Americas countries union, you don't have laws and regulations made outside, you don't have a freedom of movement across countries of the Americas.

The European Union was started as a trade union, its changed a lot since the 70s from handful of countries looking to trade.

You guys just voted Trump in.

You know what, guys and gals? For being such a smart bunch of caring liberals, the hatred shown toward me in this thread speaks volumes of you.

Guess you're not the wonderful, welcoming, and inclusive people you all pretend to be.

Much easier to project your problems onto others you don't agree with, I suppose.

The good news is, you have four years to learn differently, if Donald Trump does right by the people and the country.

He may. He may not. I can only hope for the best.
Oh please.

Donald Trump ran a campaign on insult, hatred, and division.
Saying Mexicans are rapists and criminals and that we should build a wall and deport all of them. Claiming for years that Obama isn't an american citizen. Housing discrimination lawsuits against him. Pinning terrorism on Islam and wanting to ban any Muslim from entering the country. Attacking a gold-star family because they spoke out against him. For heaven's sake, he is on tape bragging about sexually assaulting women, and then when women came forward saying he had done exactly what he said in that tape, he made them all out to be liars, implied they were 'too ugly' for him to sexually assault, and threatened to sue them if he became president. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

He spouts lies 24/7. He has the temperament of a toddler. Tweeting at 3 AM to insult someone that spoke out against him. Claiming the entirety of the media is rigged against him. Claiming the election is rigged against him when it looked like it didn't go his way. Repeatedly making clear his intent to jail his political opponents for crimes they did not commit. He has consistently made clear that he has no real idea of why we can't use nukes, yet he will be in charge of them now.

He has claimed that Climate Change is a hoax perpetrated by the Chinese. He is regularly praising Putin - a dictator - and refusing to acknowledge Russia's attempts at interfering with the election. He has disregarded NATO consistently. He has shown no care for the rights of women ( no drive for equal pay, is against abortion ), minorities ( he wants to expand stop & frisk and generally give police more power ) or LGBT+ individuals. He will likely appoint justice(s) to the supreme court that will vote to overturn the same-sex marriage legalization if that ever comes up. etc. etc.

And please just stop with the 'it's just four years'. Republicans will control everything they need to just push anything they want through. Republicans won't do nothing about gerrymandering, they won't do nothing against Citizen's United. They will push for undermining the voting rights of minorities as they have done in the past. They will likely pass legislation ( partially ) banning abortion or at the very least completely crippling Planned Parenthood. They will utterly destroy your healthcare system. They will increase military spending for absolutely no goddamn reason. Forget any and all progress on LGBT+ issues too. His VP supports torturing gay people. They will likely work hard to block or strip out anti-discrimination measures. They will pass legislation making it even more impossible for any common sense gun regulation to occur for the next decade and beyond. Progress made on Climate Change is likely to be completely undone and legislation will be put in place to make it harder for future presidents to effectively deal with it. We are likely to get a very conservative supreme court judge who will block progress for years to come. Think of who this man will put in charge of the FBI. Think of who he will put in charge of anything. That should terrify you.

I don't think you realize how absolutely catastrophic this will be. And I haven't even touched on how he has emboldened white supremacists, racists, bigots and the like. I absolutely refuse this idea that I have to be accepting of people that allowed this to happen. By supporting Trump, you are supporting an openly racist, bigoted, hateful, etc. candidate and through him the destruction and stagnation of progress on almost any key issue. I absolutely do not need to be tolerant of your intolerance / ignorance.

Brexit then Trump... please tell me Le Pen in France isn't the next step, I mean know right will win, but we can't also but that stupid ( and by stupid I mean racist )... ?

If the second round is Juppé/Le Pen she won't win. If it's Sarkozy/Le Pen I'm seriously scared of the results.

Yes but we live in a reality where you cant just completely change how a person thinks. People vote independent when they don't like either candidates. Both Hillary and Trump had massive unfavorables according to polls for ages so yes more people are going to vote independent than usual. This isn't anyone's fault but the Democratic Party for not grooming a strong candidate in the 8 years of an Obama presidency, and Hillary's for utterly failing to inspire your country's voters. The sooner people accept that and stop shaking their fist at the world the sooner you can begin to rebuild a viable progressive political platform for the USA.

This is smart. Don't blame third parties for siphoning off votes; blame the candidate for failing to get people to vote for them. Hillarly was a dud in 2008, and proven again in 2016.

Time to get some sleep.

You're surprised that a country founded by a bunch of rich racist xenophobic white men who enslaved an entire race of people while ethnically cleansing an entire continent elected a rich racist xenophobic white man? Obama was an outlier, an anomaly. He's our greatest modern president, but more than half the country still thinks he's the antichrist. People flipped their GODAMN SHIT that a colored man was president, so much so that they elected this asshole Trump. STOP looking up to us. We make pretty good movies and video games, but we're a war mongering, racist, shitty, capitalist country that is kind of like Rapture except without lighting bolt hands. The best thing you can do is fucking ignore us until we realize we suck, which, by all current standards, will take at least a century.
Well done telling it how it is. It's about time Americans acknowledged the truth that a majority of their fellow countrymen are xenophobic racists.

Nicola Sturgeon - "Not the result we expected or hoped or , but this is what the American people have decided and we must respect that"

My irony meter broke

Never mind redistricting that is likely to advantage Republicans who now control every branch of government.

Welcome President Trump.

What? No, anyone with integrity and self respect won't support this asshole and his piece of shit vice president.

What the fuck did you just do America

All those Brexit jokes and this is your response

I weep for any minority in the US right now. Hatred just fucking won.

You also need to account for, well at least for gaf, that it was an echo chamber in here. People here only talked about how Hillary had it in the bag, dismissed how much her image in the public would affect her standing, etc.

I still see some posters in the bubble. If anything it shows you can't just go to places that reaffirm your beliefs to get an accurate reading.

I'm not going to lie, I was 99.99999% certain she would win solely because of all the stuff I saw said and shared here. That and the general vibe of things coming from her more avid supporters. Everything pointed to Trump losing, and I bought the shooting down that occurred when Trump victories were shot down. I just figured... You know, these guys know more than I do in regards to politics. And I believed the entirety of the majority echo of GAF. (Though not that ANYONE could have expected him to win as much as he did)

I'm still flabbergasted. I can't imagine what it feels like for those who wore her logo so surely it would be hers for the taking.

It's literally just like Brexit. If the people who thought Brexit would never actually happen hadn't voted for it it wouldn't have happened.

Hopefully 2016 is the year that make people realise voting what you believe actually fucking matters.
