She could probably never win with them, but she was unable to energize the people who could have easily handed this election to her.
If you are gay your quality of life is probably going to plummet. Similarly if you are Muslim or from an African or western Asian country. Similarly for lots of other types of people.

Mandatory voting won't fix problems because people don't take voting seriously. They will not care who to vote for because they don't think it will affect their daily lifestyle.
The average person doesn't spend time scrutinising the policies of each candidate and they don't think about whether a politician is serving your interests or are self-serving.
Unfortunately politics isn't like the average person's job, if you fuck up your job really badly you'd be fired and yet, a politician can survive that if they can convince people to vote for them because again, people don't take voting seriously.
Edit: Which is why I said before, for people thinking that others will learn from their mistakes, fear for the worst. I wouldn't be surprised if Trump got a second term because people don't learn from their mistakes.

She's going to win the popular vote (probably) because of California, a state the Democrats haven't lost since 1988. It doesn't really matter.

I'm pretty sure she got very big turnout in some of those swing states, like Florida, it's just the massive turnout of rural whites was devastating.

It's the kind of move that shows you the disconnect between people's stated and actual values. A person who genuinely cares about the consequences of conservative action wouldn't be so fickle with their vote.
She never had Ohio imo. Trump led Ohio for months. You'd have to be delusional to think she'd win Ohio. What is troubling is that she lost democratic leaning states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin when she had leads there. I'm still kind of in shock that Trump won Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

I think the major problem was that she didn't really stand for anything, just more of the same. Trump was spouting all these crazy ideas, whereas Clinton coasted on kind of being the assumed winner. Now the assumption was of course based on that she was by far the most qualified candidate, but most people don't vote rationally, they vote a narrative. And Hillary didn't really have one. This is something most centrists across the west are struggling with, they think they can sway people with rational remarks, or they try the same fear mongering but are not as convincing in it as the demagogue experts. The deplorables quote of course in hindsight sealed the deal, who are these deplorable people that don't obviously vote for me? Even though she didn't have a narrative why people should actually vote for her. Except for her being a woman, which is an idea that everyone to the right of central left gets increasingly annoyed by.
