Yes, blame anyone but the shitty candidate who got beaten by an openly racist, homophobic, sexist, xenophobic reality show host with a terrible wig.
I'm pretty fucking upset with the DNC. Instead of letting the Bernie wave ride, they decided to do their best to discredit him at every turn, and put 100 percent of their support behind Hillary instead.

The Clinton platform was on coming together. It was the most progressive platform ever on climate change. The most progressive platform ever on LGBTQ rights. The most progressive platform ever on protections for the disabled. On education reform. On environmental protection. On all these issues people claim to care about. Ohhhh but she was too shrill, too unlikable, too much of a woman to get "so called" progressives out to vote against Donald Fucking Trump
In theory. In practice discussions here on GAF where a lot of this: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=208215234&postcount=38

Hillary supporters were going down on Bernie Sanders and Sanders supporters, ridiculing them, treating them like mentally challenged. Some, like the linked user, outright saying that they didn't want to walk together with Sanders supporters and anyone who was unquestionable on Hillary.

Enough of this shit.

What fucking Bernie wave? He got less votes. Deal with it.

I didn't actually think this was going to happen...

I mean, she had every advantage. She had the whole establishment on her side, the media, like... every goddamn body. How did she lose to HIM!?!?

Allow me, Mr. Masters in Political Science, to chime in for a moment.

I said way back in the primaries that Hillary was unelectable in a general election. She has too much baggage, too many things that could be hammered on, and in general she is just not a likeable person at all.

If the Democrats had chosen Bernie Sanders then he wins this election handily. The Republicans would have had to play from the same basic play book of screaming Socialist as loudly as they could. Hillary coming out of the primary was the best thing possible for the right. Pretty much ANYBODY else would have beaten Trump. I knew the Democrats were doomed after the primaries though.

It looks like Roy Cooper managed to pass McCrory by a razor's edge for NC governor. Its a small bright light, but he's gonna have a hard time getting anything done.

People are even assuming he's going to be one term. No reason to assume that.

When people's lives become worse off in 4 years who do you think they are going to blame? The Republicans have to actually do things right now, there is no symbolic votes and congressional hearings to occupy their idle time now.

Just woke up from a nap. Can't believe he actually got elected and will be the President of the United States of America. I'm pretty bummed out right now.

The left has a LOT of attitude adjustment to do over the next 4 years. Some of the reactions I've seen are downright shocking.

With the smugness and a whole year of belittling and insulting Trump supporters and dismissing them as a pocket of racist sexists, its honestly no surprise this result snuck up on so many. The DNC themselves straight up labeling everyone "deplorables" was a tremendously stupid decision. Hillary Clinton was not a popular enough candidate to get away with that sort of cockiness.

I would NEVER claim a large portion of Trump's base weren't these shitty people, but it's probably time the people who voted for this got taken seriously, lest this happens all over again in 4 years time. Trump did not win simply because all his supporters are racist, nor did DNC lose because Hillary is a woman.

Thinking more about it this morning, bush was one of the worst presidents we have ever had. I actually don't think trump will be that bad, if for no other reason than he won't get us into any wars.

I also think Republicans will fine a way to keep the popular parts if ACA like no preexisting conditions, kids can stay on till 25, can't charge women more. Still, a lot of people are about to lose their health insurance.

I also don't think roe v wade is going anywhere as long as all the liberals hang on for the next four years. Nor is gay marriage. Kennedy isn't going to change his mind. But if he, breyer, or Ginsburg die in the next four years...god help us all.

Barring disaster, nothing changes in 2018. We are going to have wait till 2020 for another shot.

I am at a crossroads, I want Trump to fail spectacularly to prove how much a bad decision he is for president but in doing so, the country is going to be fucked. But if I want him to succeed like no president before then it cements that a man like him can become a president and succeed which sets a precedents for others.

For the sake of the country we need to support Trump until he fucks up.

Sooooo what happen to all this talk of how Trump was getting smashed in the polls, the Republicans eating themselves alive, they're going to be ruined. Gaf was beyond convinced this was never going to happen, 24hrs later and everyone is looking around like a stunned mullet trying to work out what the fuck happen, the complete opposite of what they thought was happen took place.

And people saying its only 4 years? I remember hearing that about Bush.

A large portion of Trumps base ARE racist, bigoted, small-minded regressives. This is a fact, no denying.

Large amounts of Trump supporters were not these things too, but denying he fed off the extreme right and denying the extreme right doesn't hold significant numbers is delusional.

Does that stop them from getting a seat?? I say do it. If they don't, America is about to get very dark on social issues.

You need a good reason to filibuster(hold up a vote through procedure)...it can backfire and the Democrats will lose more seats in 2018 which already looks like a horrible map(3 more seats at least about to fall(MT, ND, IN). So if they're at 48 with Hassan in NH(still up in the air)...they'll be down to 45/44 or worse.

Yeah, they could try but filibusters can be broken. The Dem Senate isn't even Dem Senators Angus King(I-Maine) could flip as he said when he initially caucused with Democrats while Joe Manchin(D-West Virginia) is talking about joining the Republicans now I believe.

So we lost.

The "says who" guy won.

The pussy grabber won.

The guy who shitted on the Khans won.

The alleged multiple sexual assaulter won.

The Russian trolls won.

Putin won.

The guy who won't stand for NATO won.

The guy who is so careless with the nuclear arsenal won.

The guy who's VP believes in conversion therapy won.

The guy who said nasty woman won.

I'm still numb. I just...I still can't believe this.

I feel so bad for Hillary and Obama. Everything Obama has worked so hard on, everything he has done for us the past 8 years...Trump is about to erase within a few months.

It's just so depressing. We will lose Supreme Court picks, which will set this country back for decades.

There's no way Trump will win again in 2020. Elizabeth Warren or Michelle Obama can run in 4 years and make Trump a one term president. We just need to stick together and find a way to make it through the next 4 years.

Cross posting from all the other threads because fuck it:

Welp, all I can do is laugh at this election. I was super Anti-Hillary but I actually sucked it up and voted for her. My vote here in Oregon didn't even matter anyways.

Than y'all go ahead and fucking let Trump win. He grabbed pussy all the way to the top. He climbed a pussy-ladder to the top if you will.

Holy fuck I can't believe this shit show we have going on right now. I hope everyone realizes that this is the moment we accepted the fall of the American empire. Idiocracy is now official.

So what happened to this election having the most votes casted and way up compared to 2012?

Early voting was way up this year but less people voted on Election day compared to last year's election day by how many votes?

How does minorities fit in?

Everyone including both candidates, parties, the pundits and news outlets, GAF, myself, all underestimated the sheer volume of white voter turnout for Trump. Clinton's appeal with minorities and women was also overestimated by practically everyone.

Maybe take your own advice if you're going to adopt this attitude?
No. Because it'sg disgusting how beyond supporters are put in drives today spanking it like this it a victory.

Bernie Sanders almost four million less votes. Four million.

In no universe is that close. So this attitude is "lol you idiots choose wrong" is quite frankly, insulting.

It feels weird having to talk about the dangers of a Trump presidency in hushed whispers in my office. Both myself and the person sitting next to me have bosses who are Trump supporters and giddy as fuck this morning.

Apparently Clinton's indiscretions outweigh racism and sexism.

As a white male in Canada, I can only imagine how the non-white, non-male people in the US feel right now. Or at least how they should be feeling, considering the last year's worth of bullshit he's spouted.

I've watched from afar and both celebrated (Obama) and scoffed at (Bush) presidential nominees before, but not like this. I'm truly blown away at how much emotion, passion, and straight up anger and hate overshadowed any form of logic, reason, and thought.

I have to admit, I didn't think this day would actually end up coming to pass. Every shred of evidence said it wasn't supposed to happen. I have no problem admitting I was sitting, wide eyed and mouth open, and I watched CNN last night, with a sinking feeling in my stomach.

How is winning the popular vote gonna help the dems?

It's a token victory. Dems have won the last 4 out of 5 elections by popular vote. I think it deligitimizes the new administration which has no immediate practical effects but I hope contributes to unrest that will eventually lead to chanhe in the electoral system. I don't see how it can ever happen, but at some point the majority of America will get fed up with having the rural white America dictate our path moving forward.

Apologies I wrote were instead of weren't. Corrected!

I'm sad for many reasons today.

I'm sad that the very human right I have to marry my boyfriend is now possibly going to be destroyed. I'm sad for the women who have to live with the terror of Roe v Wade possibly being overturned. I'm sad for all of my AA friends that will continue to face prejudice in the judicial system and continue to face disenfranchisement. I'm sad for all my Hispanic and Latino friends who could lose their families. I'm sad for my Muslim friends who are going to have to face a racist climate that wants to pin down blame on them and bar them from entering the country. I'm sad for Hillary Clinton, who has spent her life helping women and children through the government, losing to the very face of an uneducated misogyny.

I hope I can feel better tomorrow but I doubt it.

if it's any consolation, they can't repeal the marriage act that fast and easily, would probably take several years, maybe enough time for a DNC controlled government to emerge
