I am not even from the States and I am shocked that they voted Donald in. It is like some bizarre dream.
Final Fantasy XV can't get fast enough. I want to drown my sorrows and escape and never look back.
I paid to see Hacksaw Ridge yesterday and am a big fan of Mel Gibson movies. You are not wrong. Even if they don't admit it, supporting a bigot makes you a bigot.
If Rudy Giuliani is truly made attorney general, I fear greatly for brown people of this country.
We don't decide elections on overall popular vote and for very good reasons.
You are not wrong. Even if they don't admit it, supporting a bigot makes you a bigot.
Winning the popular vote by .1% is not statistically significant.
All of those SNL skits with Hillary celebrating early are going to look so strange now.
but in another country, she would have won even by just 0.1%, regardless, it doesn't matter anymore, time for America to get its act together
But still the majority of voters wanted Clinton to become the president. Even if it's 1 vote that swings it, it should count in the election.
As much as I was fucking around last night in the election thread, I went to bed last night and this reality shook me and kept me from sleeping for a while. I mean, someone who was accused of sexual assault numerous times, made fun of disabled people, doesn't care about the lives of minorities or immigrants and really only gives a shit about himself, someone who gave a stronger voice to people who are deplorable was just elected president of the united States by the electoral college that's supposed to stop things like this from happening AND the Republicans have control of all three branches of the government. It's surreal in the most unfortunate of ways.
How am I wrong? If you vote for an openly racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic man doesn't that make you complicit?
As much as I despise the man and what he personally stands for.
Yes, you are.
This about says itoh good, last night wasn't some kind of terrifying fever dream my mind concocted

Liberal politicians around the world quickly need to come up with a message that resonates with the victims of globalisation. Both Trump and the Brexit brigade were able to fuse nostalgia, xenophobia and jingoism in a way that excited people who felt left behind by the modern world and yearned for the "glory days".
We are seeing former industrial heartlands in the UK and US turning to extreme-right candidates because they don't feel like anyone else gives a shit about them. Of course they are deluding themselves but it's damning that nobody has found an argument that works against it. What can candidates like Hillary Clinton say to people who have seen their livelihoods destroyed by the demise of traditional domestic industry? How can she appeal to those who are irritated by social progressivism? Just what can she offer them that will improve their lives? All she could do was call these people deplorable and say their jobs were never coming back, but the truth hurts, and people aren't going to vote for someone that hurls sand in their eyes and tells them to get with the times.
This morning, my 8 year old son asked me who won.
I told him Donald Trump did.
He says "So, the bully won?"
I didn't know what to say. I just hugged him.
I find it pretty funny that people who are so quick to blame Hillary for losing (she did! its her fault!) still can't accept that its Bernie's own fault for his own losing too (he did! Its his fault). Bernie was running a campaign against a strongly liked (in her own party) basically incumbent. Instead of running something that would pull people in from both sides, he tried to build a new coalition and told all the others "You're old and corrupt". It was a losing plan. He lost. It was his own fault.I'm pretty fucking upset with the DNC. Instead of letting the Bernie wave ride, they decided to do their best to discredit him at every turn, and put 100 percent of their support behind Hillary instead.
You do realize that if the electoral college was not in effect, that Trump supporters would actually come out to vote in New York and California.
You are if the left says you are, judging by the posts in this threadI paid to see Hacksaw Ridge yesterday and am a big fan of Mel Gibson movies.
I'm not a bigot.
Well everyone was seeing a guaranteed victory for Hillary after all.All of those SNL skits with Hillary celebrating early are going to look so strange now.
Care to expand on this? What evidence is there for your claim?
Stop being vague and use your words to explainYou're wrong because it's far more complex than that.
This isn't just about the person on the podium.
How am I wrong? If you vote for an openly racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic man doesn't that make you complicit?
This isn't "just politics" these decisions impact billions of livesI'm sorry for all the salt. Guys, please remember this is just politics, don't stress over this stuff as much, some people thought the country would go down if Obama won, it didn't. It's going to be fine, be happy that Mass made rec pot legal, now we right coasters don't have to drive to Colorado to get legal mary jane!~!!!!!!
If I was Obama I'd just leave early. Why bother? I feel for him. I bet he feels betrayed.

No thanks. It's obviously more complex than "you voted for Trump, you're a bigot".
If you can't see that I'm not going to exhaust myself arguing the point.

I think the DNC teardown on this has to be that they lost this for the same reason Gore and Kerry lost. They've got to find more charismatic, likeable candidates.
