Hah! My first patient of the day is an old lady who started to have chest pain last night while watching election results.

It's gonna be a weird day

Legit worried my mom might have a heart attack. She's had blood pressure in heart attack territory many times in the past and she's definitely heavily invested in this election.

I'm not at all a fan of this happening, but people are overacting like the republicans said who said the world was coming to an end when Obama was elected. Trump is a democrat at heart and gay friendly...

he is as gay friendly as hannity

So what are we pinning the Trump win on? I am curious on genuine gaf opinions. I'm not gonna argue. I just wanna hear.

Clinton underperforming all around. Trump over performing with whites and latinos.

Putting a homophobe in the VP chair is a funny way of being gay friendly...

Trump was elected on exclusion, not inclusion. This is a very bad stance to follow if we want to become more of a global community. These policies will place American Service personal, travelers and diplomats abroad in far more danger than ever.

I'm not too afraid of a Trump presidency mostly because Trump is not used to hearing the word no. When his cabinet, other world leaders and the Never Trump caucus start to tell him that he can't do things like fire congress or he can't exactly round up every person living in America illegally (we really don't have the funds or manpower for that) or that there is no way that jobs are coming back. He'll consider his presidency a failing one and quit just like he did on his businesses.

I'd like to express some anger towards EviLore for allowing Trump ads to run on this site, btw. I posted in the ad feedback thread and never got a response and saw many ads after that. Just saying.

Seriously? Trump/Republican ads aren't illegal. This literally is asking GAF to overstep it's liberal boundaries. EviLore and GAF has nothing to answer for here :/

The threat behind it is Pence, and the Republican congress and such I think.

I keep seeing this, "liberals have to engage with the people that supported Trump". How exactly do we do this? Trump supporters do not want it. They do not like liberals. We are very divided by partisanship. When Obama took the White House the economy was in free fall (after 8 years of a republican in the WH). It is in much better shape with Obama leacing office, but it's slow and frustrating to everyone. Trump supporters completely rejected the ideals of what Obama and the Dems did and wanted to do. So how do you talk to these people and convince them we can work together? I just don't see a way to do that. Echo chambers are everywhere. And frankly the social conservative aspect of the party is bigoted. There is no way to say the party that doesn't support LGBTQ rights isn't. Bigotry isn't simple. It's not just someone yelling epithets and forcefully oppressing people. It's an thread in many cultures in America and rarely exposes itself in obvious ways.

Okay.. Pence? He wants to force gays to learn to be straight.

Overreacting? One party now has more power than any other has obtained since 1928 to control policy. This is the basis of an argument I had with my Father last night. He hates both Trump and Hillary, but he said it wouldn't make a difference. It will be different this time.

- He's plans to dismantle the EPA
- He's apparently putting a climate change denier in charge of the nation's energy
- He's spent well over a year building his campaign on xenophobia and misogynistic attacks
- He has ZERO experience working in government and is now in charge of the entire nation.

I did not want this man to be anywhere near the position of POTUS.

Ah yes the old, "IF I DIDNT HAVE IT EASY YOU CANT HAVE IT AT ALL".

You're not really making them out to be the most sympathetic bunch you know?

I'm not even Hispanic and I can emphasize with how much shit these families have to go through just so they can have a life here.
Except that Latinos who are against illegal immigrants aren't necessarily against them becoming citizens and the chance to make a better life for themselves. However when people have put in their time to become productive members of society do you think it's fair to reward those who haven't?

Stop being economically rightwing, help the working class

So, he's the George Lucas of Presidents?

The anti-intellectualism that has been brewing also has come to a head. Amazing that we have come to a point where so many people fear learning and understanding the world, preferring instead to look to hunker down and retreat to the past.

Biggest Trump supporter in my office keep repeating "Why is it so quiet in here? It feels like a morgue, people need to cheer up."

At one point she muttered "we need a flash mob or something to bring up the energy."

Jesus fucking Christ these are the people that voted for his man.

This kind of polarization you crave is the very reason why we have a President-Elect Trump

Yes, turning GAF into MORE of an echo chamber would have certainly helped, right?

I had an anxiety attack this morning so I contacted the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

I told the worker there how I felt and how I'm scared shitless about a Trump presidency.

He seemed to basically respond with a canned speech like he was reading off of a letter.

I asked him point blank about it and he said "Yeah, that's what we're telling everyone."

I asked how many calls he's had, and he responded that he's never been busier in his 15 years of volunteering.

"Judge, all my assets have turned against me and I am declaring political bankruptcy". : )

Reactions like this only helped Trump win the election.
