They could've at least chosen a picture where he's smiling. That photo looks nightmarish, like an angry devil/tyrant looking down on his new empire.

canadian here so perhaps I can't relate as much, but for me considering the situation 46.9% of non voter actually make sense.

Probably a whole lots of them assumed that Clinton would win and that no subsequent effort where needed for her win, while most trump fans voted because they knew that trumps was on the brink of behing defeated.

to compare (maybe not a good comparison but still). if you assume that you woould do poorly on your next school exam, you will go on and study hours for trying to rectify the problem, while if you assume that you will ace the exam no problem, you probably won't make much efforts to study that much.

Perhaps I am completly wrong however, but here is my opinion anyway.

Real shame that it had to go that way however.

I'm not American, so I'm most probably wrong on this but, isn't Obama an atheist?

I mean, I think most politicians are behind closed doors, but Obama seems less likely to be atheist than Trump. He certainly goes to church and stuff. Trump didn't even really pretend he wasn't until halfway through the primaries.

My girlfriend had to pass out tissues on the train this morning because so many people in the car were crying.

Just an awful day.

How did you guys let this happen?

I'm an American in the sense that I've lived here almost all my life, but I've never been able to vote just because I happened to be born south of the border. Few years ago I was granted a work visa and it felt great not living in fear of being deported to a country you hardly know. I still couldn't vote, however, so I and many others were trusting liberals, fellow Latinos, and Americans in general with our votes. After busting ass working, doing well in school, and staying out of trouble, now there's a very real chance I might get deported for the heinous crime of not being born here. I don't even get angry about this anymore, just completely disappointed. You let me down America.

And the thing is I actually quite love this country. I mean I grew up here, this is my country. It has many glaring flaws no doubt, but there's still potential for it to be even better. It's sad that politics has been boiled down to soundbites and zingers. There's very little incentive for actual discourse when mainstream media is focused on ratings, and with the advent of social media people can digest news from sources that tell them what they want to hear. I really was hoping the country wouldn't further devolve to reality tv politics with no substance, yet here we are.

Nah was asleep by then. Sorry you had to deal with it tho

I didn't deal with it, just reading the replies was eye opening. Don't know what to think, this election is a disaster, I don't like Hillary, I loathe at the idea of more guys like Trump running for office and having their VP run he show. This sets a dangerous precedent that we should worry about in future elections.

Hillary fucked up, she doubled down on minority groups and ignored blue collar America.

Why are people focusing on 46.9% not voting as opposed to Hillary being such a goddamn awful candidate that she can't even hold on to blue states? She's the reason that this racist, misogynistic idiot is in office.

For fucks sake Democrats, pick a likable candidate in 4 years.

I don't think it's fair to say Pence will be running America. There is no doubt Trump is going to need help with foreign affairs, but when it comes to the economy I think he will be able to call the shots.

Trump isn't an ideologue like Cruz and I think he will surprise people in a good way... I hope lol.

No one knows what Trump stands for because his entire election path was pandering and flipping on a dime to pander more.

What is actually worrying is the people he puts in charge: Pence, SCOTUS, the Cabinet, other positions and agencies put at risk, and so on.

Damn near half of America not voting for the president is pretty objectively fucked up, while people not liking Clinton is subjective.
