I can honestly say I am stressed and scared. I'm in shock and so are many friends. I have no words for what comes next. This is the first time in my life I am actually fearful of an election result a feeling I've never known before.

I was already going through some tough stuff in my personal life but this has just compounded it. It's incredibly daunting to think of the outcomes that may come of this.

I from now on am simply unplugging from all politics for a while. I don't want to see the news I just seriously cannot handle this.
 
My wife and I decided last night that we aren't going to have a second kid. We won't bring another person into this world to suffer the consequences of our shitty nation's decisions.

Right. I think a lot of the uncertainty comes from the fact that health care costs were just starting to skyrocket at exactly the wrong time. And what I mean by that is that premiums were out of control before the ACA became law, but it was close enough to the passing of the ACA that those opposed could blame the impending passage of the ACA on the rising costs. Add in that covering college kids longer and allowing those with pre-existing conditions to get health care and you have even higher premiums. Without something like the public option to try to drive costs down, costs inevitably continue to rise and in the eyes of a lot of people this all gets blamed on Obamacare.
 
I kept hearing people/Trump supporters say they 'can't trust Hillary' or 'she's a liar'.

Did they not listen to Trump or just not care?

Just in the debates he got fact checked as having lied significantly more than Hillary. All he does is talk shit.

I don't mind paying a few more cents to make sure I and millions of others can go to the doctor without worrying its going to stop them from getting food, personally.

The kid would be 3 years old by the time Trump's term is over. He/she wouldn't be affected at all. Or do you think the world is going to end?
 
So, those protest things I see happen sometimes. Think I might wanna be in one eventually. How do I know one's about to go down? Is there a posting board?

As a non US guy I kinda want to partake in good old schadenfreude and laugh at the dumpster fire you lit on your porch like the Brexit morons but then I remember this fucknugget can and will easily fuck over the environment and the planet for shits and giggles.

What are the biggest threats to the country with Trump as president? What could all realistically change for the worse? I just read the vox article about his stance on global warming and how he could set that progress back. What else?

I get that, I guess when I saw brexit and the lack of voter turnout I brought it up and people laughed and said polls are different this is different.

I wanted to be wrong. A movement only works if it is worked till the end. So many people didn't vote. Instead of being angry at those that did and for a different candidate people need to start working their own ground games and being proactive for midterms.
 
I think what it comes down to is, for the most part the demographics voted the same way in which it did under Obama. What happened is, country folk and suburban whites came out more than it did in 2012.

I don't know about everyone else but I got my 2017 premium statement last week that showed my monthly premium would be increased 67%. I can imagine if more ACA recipients also received that letter a week before election like I did, that could have affected the way
many people voted if healthcare costs was their #1 issue

Financial deregulation is a sure thing.

I have no clue what the hell is going to happen with Dept of Education with someone like Carson in charge.

Uh, Supreme Court nominees are going to be making judgements for decades, man. If you truly think the effects of Trump plus complete republican control will only last 4 years I've got a bridge to sell you...

The Dems don't have the numbers to gridlock anything. The Repubs are going to make sure to kill that filibuster early on too to prevent them from even considering it. So yea these next few years are going to be rough.

for the short term, look at his cabinet appointees, also he will repeal every executive order made by Obama, DACA beneficiaries are going to be deported for example, can't believe people will allow this

I'd worry about a recession. Lots of economists have been saying his policies on taxes would cause a recession.

If it helps any, I think the Climate was beyond control by now anyway. The effects we see now are usually decades delayed. So we are seeing the 80s and what the effect it did on the environment. Really might not have been much we could have done. of course we should try and succeed, especially since renewable energy will ulitimently be a big win for low and middle class people.
