He lost the popular vote tho...More than half the country is celebrating.

People better fucking remember this. They're hugely responsible.
You're gonna think this is hyperbolic, but it's not. The energy and mood was EXACTLY the same as the day after 9-11. I'm not even joking.
"President Trump"
That still doesn't sound good. Not at all.
I think a lot of us woke up this morning like... "did that really happen?"Thought this might have been a bad dream, but no. America really elected this dumb fuck.
This. The media fucked this up so badly and there's no reason that they'll stop fucking up.
That doesnt change the way he behaved on the road to become a decent leader. What if Trump suprises everyone and becomes a decent leader?
Again, you, like 95% of PoliGAF, are operating under the assumption that everyone that voted for Trump is racist and sexist and you don't care beyond that. The problem is that is wildly ignorant, to think that a democratic nominee couldn't have salvaged some votes by not calling everyone on the fence and on the other side racist and sexist is just absurd.
The issue is just that this election tosses out some assumptions that we've had after the last two elections. There was a strong belief that the coalition that elected Bush twice had sufficiently eradicated as demographics continued to change. Trump defied all the sober analysis we saw after Romney's defeat and doubled down on a strategy that establishment Republicans didn't think would work. He won not only key battleground states, but also several states he wasn't expected to win.
Where I attack the problem from is pretend for a second that you're not a passionate voter but instead a Democratic strategist. What's the best move here going forward? Shame them for electing the guy they wanted and hope they'll see things our way in the next election or try to understand just how this happened and figure out a way to win some of these people back?
I get that there's an alternative theory here that in an election where fewer people cast votes that it can be argued that the problem isn't Obama voters voting Trump, but just that fewer Romney voters stayed home this year relative to Obama voters. Maybe you don't need the racist Trump vote. But are we sure about that?
I think a lot of us woke up this morning like... "did that really happen?"
Exactly. There are other factors at play during this election you can argue that affected the results but the media only caring for profits and ratings and not actual content was a big fail.
I never heard any of Clinton's in depth policies discussed in depth. At best maybe for a hour then on to the next Trump rally.
Maybe that was Trump's strategy all a long. To give campaign speech every day so that all the media networks would play it over and over and over and nothing else would be discussed.
President Mike Pence.
Yeah, that might happen.
Christ.
President Numpty Trumpty.
numpty
ˈnʌmpti/
noun
SCOTTISH informal
noun: numpty; plural noun: numpties
a stupid or ineffectual person.
The sad part is that most Trump voters made up their minds long before Comey, "grab them by the P", etc.
He had them at "wall". He had them at "ban on Muslim immigration".
Honestly, at the rate this went last night, its clear people had their minds made up long before Comey became involved again. And don't be angry at Comey, be angry at Weiner for taking advantage of his abuse of power. Or Clinton for not making with absolute certainty that her bases were covered on her private server (I know, I know.....).
There's a lot of blame that can go around here, but honestly, this was such a layup for the Dems. I cannot fucking believe they could not sway more independents.
Get some sleep. Your dreaming will surely be better than this.I haven't slept for greater than 24 hours. I'm still thinking to myself "Did that just happen?"
Maybe when I finally go to sleep I'll wake up in true reality.

Sorry, I'm not gonna mince words and pretend people aren't being racist and sexist by voting for an active racist and sexist fuckwad. If you think "I'm part of the problem", you're the one who's part of the problem by normalizing his shit behavior and the behavior of the voters.

Donald Trump's entire campaign was built around antagonizing comments and it didn't drive his supporters away (or indeed turn out a coalition against him). Fox News and far right wing media like Drudge and Breitbart don't take the tone of "let's educate liberals so they can see things from our perspective." Why is it just on the left to treat the opposition like special snowflakes while the right is calling for Hillary to be thrown in jail and trying to ban brown-skinned people from entering the country? There is a giant rift in this country and it's not going to be solved if one side tries to acquiesce while the other maintains an extreme level of vitriol. The solution is probably not greater vitriol on both sides, obviously, but every other time our country has been as divided as this, it's taken an external factor (war or recession) to get us to move beyond our differences and identify as countrymen again. The answer can't just be "liberals were too mean."
We weren't nice enough to bigoted assholes and those who are indifferent to the plight of others not like them at birth.
Compelling argument.
Isn't it less than 25% celebrating since 46% didn't vote and that doesn't include all the children who couldn't vote?
Do what you want, you are your own downfall.
I almost feel like Trump is just going to be the face of the President, but Pence will be doing all the groundwork and laws, etc.
I never heard any of Clinton's in depth policies discussed in depth. At best maybe for a hour then on to the next Trump rally.
That makes a much bigger statement on political beliefs than just mass apathy. Doing nothing means nothing. Voting for a Duck or spoiling the ballot is a voice. Not voting isn't a statement, it's just apathy. In Finland there's always hundreds of votes for Donald Duck and a lot of other silly votes. This is in a country of 5 million people. In the last parliament elections there were about 14,500 votes rejected because of these silly votes.
I believe Comey suppressed the Clinton vote more than it bolstered the Trump vote. In the end, that's what tipped the scales.
This picture is not of KKK members celebrating

Depends on the percentage of that 46% that like Trump.
If it makes you feel any better, only five incumbent presidents has lost re-election.
Ok, that probably didn't make you feel any better.
Eight years of Donald J. Trump. Yeah, that might happen.
Unfortunately, he has a lot of voters. Ones that politicians need to win elections.
Ideological purity only takes you so far.
Do what you want, you are your own downfall.
53% of white woman voted trump. what is this
That's true. People could argue that Clinton was unlike and that caused Democrats to stay home but it wasn't like Obama or Sanders weren't out there campaigning to vote so why wouldn't they have voted?
You may not like Clinton but you like Sanders / Obama wouldn't that be enough to get you to vote?
