Protests against Trump in NYC and other cities

Not if enough switch to put her at 270.

The EC is the final word when a candidate gets 270.
Yeah they are still Republican, they are NOT gonna vote for Hillary, and therefore she will not get 270 which means the Republican controlled house would decide.

That woman's full of shit, her intent is to silence voices in the name of unity. That isn't how this country is going to heal.

The thought of Liberals uniting with someone like Trump, and that potential cabinet of his is HILARIOUS, especially after 8 years of Obama getting completely screwed by Republicans. in spite of his naive tendencies for diplomacy.

This makes the left look like spoiled children that didn't get their way. Reinforcing the stereotypes we already have.

You are literally protesting democracy and the will of the public. I mean, I get it, and it sucks we're stuck with him for at least 4 years. But shit like this will guarantee a second term.

SHE WON THE POPULAR VOTE.

It is NOT the will of the public.

Democracy is fine until it doesn't go my way 🙄

Trying to understand what people think this will accomplish

It's an outcry against a system that allowed utter hatred and evil to become the runner of the president.

I'm in CANADA and I've seen people wearing racist shirts today. Our national news referred to Trump winning as White Supremacies Last Stand.

You don't think we all know what this is? Our entire country (except a very small minority) feels nothing but seething disgust for the USA right now. Not that we're not going to have closed borders because Trump wants to end NAFTA (which if you research is much worse for us to exist, but also bad for both of us if I end) which will probably be the end of over a century of us being BFFs.

And that's just our country. Yours is so much worse off. The idiots won last night.

:lol you should probably learn how is elections work before taking down to others because this just looks embarrassing for you. It's factually correct that he didn't have the majority.

lol nice attempt to side step you being wrong. It doesn't matter how hollow you thought it ring it's still factually incorrect.

lol Donald Trump is now the president elect of the US.

If they plan on protesting on the freeways, hope they wear reflective vests and look both ways.

http://www.eastbaytimes.com/2016/11...onald-trump-presidency-hit-by-car-on-highway/

As the demonstrators entered the highway, a Honda Element hit one of them.

The Honda’s female driver then pulled over to the right shoulder, where protesters began vandalizing her car but did not hurt her, said CHP Officer Sean Wilkenfeld . They broke the car’s back window before officers stabilized the scene.

Would you be saying that if the reverse happened? I mean, I hated Trump's campaign. I really did. But the Electoral College is not at fault.

Yes it is. It's a fucking ludicrous outdated concept that certain citizens are worth more than others. Every vote should be equal.

That's not unity :(

I really understand wanting to give the benefit of the doubt, and giving Trump a chance... but I've already seen the rationalization start to happen last night. People normalize all the horrible shit he's said and done in the name of trying to 'start off' on the right foot.

It's already started, and he's the one who started it by saying and doing the things he's done with a shit eating grin on his face. He's alienated us and he's proud of it.

Do I hope he does a good job, and isn't as bad as he's given reason to believe he will be? Fuck yes I do. But that doesn't mean I have to give him shit. That's a politician's job to play nice with him. If he wants citizens to respect him, he's got to earn that respect and not attack half the electorate. Until then, I'll be either supporting or part of any movement against him.

Man, I really hope the entirety of Canada is disgusted, it feels like anything is possible now. You've got a Conservative leadership candidate literally calling Trump a great example.

For those of you saying, "What's the point?", the point is there's more to the Constitution than just the Second Amendment. People have the right to Assembly and Free Speech. If people want to hit the streets and voice their displeasure that a man who mocked people with physical handicaps, encouraged others to just "grab women by the pussy" because "you can do whatever you want", and ran a platform of division and hate, was elected president--then that is their right.

"Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable... Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals."

Maybe this election will push more people to act, but it can't just be "acts of condemnation", but acts of understanding. I'm no fan of Hilldawg, but I absolutely refuse to believe that Trump represents the face of our country--that he is a model for our children to work for or that he speaks for all of us.

So, no. People won't just "accept" that he's president, nor should they. Until Trump starts showing that he is working FOR the American people; to promote growth, respect people of all backgrounds; and that he is deserving of our support and respect; then why should we be silent?

There's a reason for the Electoral college

I think you should look up the reason why there is an Electoral College..

It was actually because the founders didn't trust the voters in making the right decision when it came to voting..

He is project to win. He hasn't actually won, election isn't concluded until mid December.

The EC has never gone against the vote, and the US has never before elected a cartoon villain... and yet here we are!

Not true.

wikipedia said:
During the 1836 election, Virginia's entire 23-man electoral delegation faithlessly voted against victorious Democratic Party Vice Presidential Candidate Richard Mentor Johnson[1] due to Johnson's openly admitted, publicized, long-term interracial relationship with his slave, Julia Chinn. The loss of Virginia's support caused Johnson to fall one electoral vote short of a majority, causing the Vice Presidential election to be thrown into the U.S. Senate for the only time in American history.

Despite 157 instances of faithlessness as of 2015, faithless electors have not yet affected the results or ultimate outcome of any other presidential election.

Which is why many states have faithless elector laws.

What's the point. He still gonna be president. The people and our republic has spoken.

This is the exact kind of attitude that will lead to the worsening of the political system. Protests do matter. They might not look like it in the immediate future, but demonstrations like this get noticed. NO ONE TALKS ABOUT REFORM IN WALL STREET during this last election cycle UNLESS Occupy Wall Street happens.

Although it's not clear exactly at THIS point what direction this protest will take. I suspect that it won't be as narrowly defined as Democrats vs. Trump like so many here are stating. It's not just Trump that has boiled up this anger, its the system that allowed a candidate like Trump to be able to LIE his way into the Presidency.

As time moves on in this movement, it will be directed at a lot more than just Trump in my opinion.

Nobody is protesting democracy. Underrepresented people are making a collective statement essentially saying this election sucked. I'm sorry you don't understand that.

People are protesting over something they feel is unjust. You, the people complaining about the protest, need to get over it. If you guys were alive in the 60's you'd probably be saying "black people have to use seperate restrooms and its the law. Get over it!"

I applaud these protestors. The people voted for Clinton. The people should get her. End of story. Don't give in to these corrupt GOP fucks who want to take everything from you and embolden racists, rapists, and ISIS. Protest for as long as it takes.

Would you be saying that if the reverse happened? I mean, I hated Trump's campaign. I really did. But the Electoral College is not at fault.

It is when the electoral college disproportionately favours smaller states.
