Buying a 4K TV for PS4K thread!

I wish people would at least try to read through some of the thread. Same questions have been asked or answered dozens if not over a hundred times now.

It's like the in every thread. Even the launch thread has a faq and the same questions are being asked lol.

I apologise if this was in part directed at me.
I just thought asking if what I've got working at the moment is the correct information showing due to just how much varied information there is on these matters.
I have consulted other threads, but again there doesnt seem to be one simple black and white answer type situation for all of this.

Is there a way to get Game Mode switched on with HDR+ for my Sammy KU506020?

I am sure I saw that you could have both on rtings website... when I turn on HDR it just greys it out.
Hdr+ is an HDR simulatuion for SDR content. You don't "turn on" hdr mode, when you feed the display an HDR signal, it engages it's HDR mode automatically.

So put it in game mode and you're all set (crank the back light up when viewing HDR content though.)

K, ty.

Had to change my shipping date to monday since they thought businesses were open on veterans day and were gonna try to deliver tomorrow. Lmfao unreal man.

I was thinking about coming in to work tomorrow to hang around for it but they gave me a 9-5 delivery window. Like wtf.

I've got my Pro hooked up to my UE40KU6000 and it picks up YUV240 but not RGB which, I'm led to believe, is what enables HDR to be displayed. The TV is advertised as being HDR-ready - and I've confirmed it through Samsung's customer service - but the option for 2160p RGB is still greyed out. Have I done goofed?

You need to have the pro plugged in to hdmi socket 1 and enable uhd colour in tv picture settings.

I have this tv that's the only way for rgb 4k 4:4:4 :)

Edit - hdr is only available in yuv mode via the pro btw (I believe). Plus this set isn't hdr10 compatible as it doesn't have a wide colour gamut. It'll still receive the signal and will look better than non hdr sets though.

Seriously? The advisor on the phone told me all HDMI sockets are equipped with the HDR technology as it's a 'feature' of the TV. I had the Pro plugged into HDMI 1/DV slot, but haven't turned on the UHD Colour option. I'll be sure to do that when I get back home.

Cheers, pal.

Check my edit. Hdr may be available in all sockets but rgb 4:4;4 is only available in 1. If you want hdr you won't be using rgb mode anyway.

What a nightmare.

AGS is a terrible company, good lord. After a 30 minute hold I finally get through, and they go "oh good thing you called, we need a number to set up a delivery time once it gets to your local post office".

The fuck? If I didn't call, lul what would happen?

I hope my TV isn't smashed into a million pieces, but jeez, never again.

Yeah they are a disaster.

So am I tbh. Only had the tv a few weeks and still confused by all the jargon lol.
How are you finding the TV? There's been a few people on here (I suspect they're part of the Elite FourK) who have told me repeatedly that it's a pretty naff TV. But, as far as I'm concerned, I think it does a stellar job, especially for that particular price-range.

So my fun with Samsung.

1. Call Customer Support last night
2. Get routed to e-commerce
3. e-commerce routes me to tech team
4. tech team tells me they'll call in 1-5 days
5. Call Customer Support again asking to speak to a higher management, they are closed after 6pm
6. Call Customer Support today, I throw a fit
7. Get routed to e-commerce
8. e-commerce tells me they should have instantly refunded last night
9. I send in pictures and they fill out refund form

Here's the kicker. I can't exchange it. I get a refund and then I have to buy a TV all over and go through the whole thing again.

I think at this point. If I get a decent set or not this will be my last exchange with Samsung. Should've known better. I actually changed and decided to drive to the station to pick up my tv. Still have my fingers crossed for everyone else.

No it wasn't directed at you.

So what now GAF?

Do I re-buy the Samsung and roll the dice? Go to a brick and mortar store and just pony up the cash and be done with it? Any good deals right now?

I already know it's outdated (as the tech is in its infancy and ever evolving) and I will be upgrading this in a couple of years time once the tech levels out, but I love it tbh, especially as it only cost me £450.

I've only ever had 32" screens before, so the jump to 50" plus 4K support for my PC gaming makes it perfect for my current needs.

Hold up-- are you saying that if our TV is broken then the only option is to get a refund? Meaning we can no longer take advantage of the $729 price? This is some bullshit.

what size was it?

the 55" is at BB right now for $1,200. On BF it'll be $1,000.

I was told she'd put a note on my refund about the price I was given and that I could call once ordered to try and get the cheaper price. I then asked if she could do it. She said no. So I asked her who specifically I should call. She said she didn't know. So I asked if it'd be handled by her department and she said probably. So in short...???

This is from the best customer service rep I called out of maybe 6?

Wow, this is a mess. I've got a feeling my screen is going to be shattered. Who knows when the TV will even get here. My tracking number takes me to some old delivery dated 2009.

I'm a bit glad I decided not to impulse buy the EPP deal. It's bad enough having to exchange a TV in a store.

I wouldn't worry too much. Mine wasn't likely due to shipping damage. That thing was straight up broken before it even left their warehouse.

I'm just in a weird spot, the 60" is the same price so I could just order it again and roll the dice. It is still a fantastic deal.

Do people actually think this thing will get near 4K with games?

Shocking isn't it?

You know, if I downsize to 55" and do a Discover price match I can buy it today in store and get $200 back on Black Friday.

Without the Discover Deals it is still $170 more expensive buying on Black Friday. Roughly the same with the 60" which would be around $250 more.

Edit: Fuck it, as much as it pains me I think I am going to do this. Instant gratification is a cruel mistress.

That's the spirit!!

Buying a PS4 pro today. So what's the consensus best TV for 4K console gaming is?

As always. What do you have to spend, how big do you want it. Literally a huge range of TVs depending on what you can afford and what size you need. A lot of people in this thread have gone for the Samsung KS8000 (US) which is the KS7000 in the UK.

Got money to burn, buy a ZD9.

I can go up to around 2.5K or 3K, around 55 inch. My concern is latency. I'm heading into OLED land a bit. I'm a movie buff as much as I am a gamer.

I have a couple of Plasmas that are getting on a bit now..so time to upgrade :)

OnTrac saying package isn't tendered to them, Samsung saying it was sent to them. Just a circle of ineptitude. Zero empathy for Samsung and the Note 7 recall issue. They can get fucked. Such horrendous service. The price of the tv is a steal but at what cost. Sony is a million times better. Needed to return a projection clock earlier this month. Got customer support, gave me an email and asked me to send my receipt image. Same day fedex label for return created etc. They already received it and are working on getting me a replacement. Meanwhile a 65" television, Samsung and their shipper don't even know who has it.

LG 55" B6 or C6 soubds good. Some issues with black crush and above black levels and they won't go as bright as LCD - but if you like your movies and are used to plasma I think the LG OLEDs would do you well.

I bought one TV from Samsung and it was such a debacle. The set had really bad stuttering all the time, even with TV content. They sent tech after tech with USB sticks to apply updates that didn't work. They are always half-assed in my experience.

Posts like this are sketching me out. I've got a bad feeling about this....

Does AGS require a signature?

I called them but was on hold for 22 minutes.

Edit: Nevermind. Finally got through.

Not sure, they haven't delivered mine yet. They told me it arrived at a local center, and that they'd have to call me to schedule a dropoff. Expecting a call tomorrow, but sucks that the TV arrived in my city yesterday and I still have to wait.

And yes, the first time I called the wait time was ridiculous.

Are you sure you're not mixing response time up with Input lag?

Sorry yes I mean input lag throughout. I think by response time you mean what manufacturers call 'response rate?'

Either way, from what I've seen the input lag on almost all HDR sets is unacceptable. As someone that plays online MP games, it doesn't seem HDR is worthwhile. HDR monitors do not exist as far as I know.

Looking for a new tv for the PS4 pro, currently got the LG 49UB820V from about a year and a half ago and just realised that it doesn't seem to support HDR which is a major bummer.

For the new TV, I'm not looking to fork out a stupid amount of money (in the uk) but still get the HDR. Read a lot about the KU6000, what's the ms on that (and if applicable in game mode) or other alternatives. Thanks in advance.

Response time, refresh rate, and input lag are all different things.
