My Nintendo Thread: Mii Nintendo, U Nintendo, Wii Nintendo

Nintendo just tweeted that "New Rewards" include a 15% discount on Xenoblade Chronicles 3D. It says "rewards" plural, but checking My Nintendo, that's the only new reward I'm noticing. Anyone else see anything different?
I am pretty sure they are referring to the rewards added nine days ago.

Ink Tanks are back in NA for 100 coins each. They end December 7th.

I'd be pissed if I had them all already, but as I'm missing a few, it's fine.

So, just noticed miitomo probably relased in Sweden tonight, the reasoning is the my nintendo points for it to trade for some miitomo splatoon colors.

Does the miitomo points work the exact same ways to trade in for "rewards" or is it traded for their own thing, but still is listed on mynintendo site for no reason?

They are the same thing. You can also use Miitomo points from within the app for Miitomo rewards only, that's all. If you get rewards from the website, it will use up a mix of platinum and Miitomo coins, depending on which are to expire first.

The new Miitomo v2 update is up, and along with it comes 3 new daily missions:

1. Answer 1 question in Answer Central (daily) +3 Platinum Coins
2. Post in Style Central (daily) +5 Platinum Coins
3. Send a message to a friend in Miitomo (daily) +5 Platinum Coins

That's an extra 390 or so coins per month to use on nothing.

Extra 90. They took away the daily 10 coin bonus for listening to 10 answers.

Looks like this November update brought the game to new territories, including Finland. Gotta test it on my tablet when I get home from work, but Google Play page seems to let me install it.

Ah, good catch, though that mission was 5 coins, so still a net +240 a month to spend on nothing.

They also removed the fiver for changing clothes. 5+5=10. Quod erat demonstrandum. Id est blah.

Round of Metroid-themed goodness in NA!!

The Samus theme for 3DS is finally up for 200 Platinum coins.
30% off Super Metroid for the New 3DS for 20 Gold coins.
20% off the Metroid Prime Trilogy on Wii U for 400 Platinum coins.

EDIT: Oh hey, another just got added. 30% off on Metroid Zero Mission for Wii U for 20 Gold coins.

hooray for yet another theme that's almost the same as all those other themes!

I'll probably download it on my secondary 3DS

- New My Nintendo Rewards Celebrate Metroid – The latest My Nintendo rewards are inspired by the launch of the Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition, which includes the original Metroid game. Fans can redeem their My Nintendo points for discounts on digital games such as Metroid Prime: Trilogy (Wii U) and Metroid: Zero Mission (Wii U) or get a Samus theme for the Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo 2DS system. Head to http://my.nintendo.com to check out the rewards today. And to learn more about the NES Classic Edition, check out its website.

holy shit Metroid Zero Mission

I actually want that!!!

like yeah it's just a stupid fucking 30% discount but it's not like I was using these 20 gold coins anyway. I've been waiting for a sale for this game forever.

Just downloaded samus theme!

It took ages to sign in the theme shop after several crashes. I had to reboot the system 3 times to finally to get in. I hope Nintendo Switch is hellva alot better than this.

Is anyone else not seeing Super Metroid as a reward? I actually want that one a lot, but I don't see it. Someone else on CAG didn't see it either, so that's really weird.

I already have all those Metroid releases unfortunately. It'd have been nice if they threw out a timed exclusive like Other M for me to spend my massive horde of points on.

This sort of exemplifies the problem with MyNintendo, which Club Nintendo also suffered from. Points are earned through purchases but rewards are also often purchased items leading to disincentivize even using MyNintendo for core buyers. All it's really doing for me is conditioning me not to buy 1st party games and instead wait to see them discounted here.

People often mocked the uselessness of the physical CN rewards but hey at least it's stuff you don't already own

I'm fine with all digital rewards but do some stuff that I (and most core Nintendo fans) don't likely have already. The early DKCR Wii eShop release or Twilight Princess Picross are good examples of that, give me more like this. Super basic character themes and Miitomo items hardly qualify though.

A personal hope is that they apply discounts to brand new Switch releases. Now there's a true incentive for hardcore Nintendo fans to use discount coupons, get a game cheaper from day one.

Also, don't skew the point values for some items to make them terribly unpleasantly high. DKCR had the highest point value and highest point to dollar ratio. Even Rambi would charge away from that deal.

What happened to Super Metroid? It kept erroring out on me when I tried to get the Just for You offer, and now the page says the offer is no longer available.
EDIT: Never mind, the direct link is dead, they re-added it under another page I guess. Now it displays correctly on the offers page.
