You know, the journalists who said they'd heard Switch wouldn't have face buttons weren't entirely wrong...
I can't believe any of us ever thought that'd be real.
So, i was 99% on team fake seeing just a photo comparison with the old one, but now i watched the video on Youtube. There is also a part when he put the joycons into the joycons grip...i mean ok 3d printing and everything, but that looks too wel made for just a joke with 3d printers, i'm starting thinking it might be true, also seems like Nintendo themselves removed the video, why would they do that if it was a fake?
After what Bethesda did with that review copies thing, it wouldn't be too surpricing if even Nintendo saw that youtubers and streamers in general are the best way nowadays to advertise your product, so maybe they sent some early version to them to give them time to prepare some coverage for january or something?

Lol, yeah right, not gonna believe this. Look at the way the ABXY buttons look. Ugly white looking bold letters and not well proportioned into the shape of the button itself. Just compare it with the original one shown on the reveal trailer:
A nice tone of white that transfers well into the overall look of the joycon as well as a nice proportion of each letter into the button. PLUS The Nintendo switch logo that goes in the middle of both joycons and the dock where you put the Switch screen have a matter finish on the reveal trailer and here it looks glossy af....
But big props though, that is a really well done fake.

Not saying it's real, though those arguments dont confirm it's a fake either, those differences could be explained by the fact he has a retail version or a prototype version or just a older/newer version than the one shown in the trailer, all we know products often changes slightly after release, also if that's a 3d printed thing than we can't argue it's very well made, then why would he have mistaken such a easy detail like the button letters? That should be the easiest thing to recreate compared to what he did with the whole tablet and stuff, same for the logo and plastic glossy vs matter finish, it should actually be easier to copy the trailer one and meke it that way than using a glossy finish. If i'm not wrong also the Switch trailer we sa last month was recorded early this year, indeed the final product could be fairly different than that.
That said, if i had to bet i'd still go with fake team, though i'm not 100℅ sure about it

This post is funny because you are arguing that his could be fake with the one Nintendo confirmed was fake, unless I'm misunderstanding why they decided to paste videos of gameplay on the screen.

The only people outside of China that might have touched an actual end user Switch would be involved in Nintendo's hardware, I have to imagine. There's no way he's getting one of those. Similarly, I don't think a dev kit would look that much like the dummy unit, since it doesn't have to.
But I'm not sure if it's a dummy unit or a fanmade reproduction. Both seem plausible, as Etika's a popular bloke within the Nintendo community as far as I can tell. If it's a dummy unit, it seems really weird that the grips and buttons don't match up. If it's a fanmade reproduction, honestly, it's still pretty weird. They seem to have gotten all the other details correct, so it's not as if whoever made it wasn't paying attention.
