Pokémon Sun & Moon |OT| Ultra Beasts and where to find them

So I haven't really followed this game and I know it's technically not out everywhere yet, but does anyone know how common Gen 1 and 2 Pokemon are? And more specifically, is there a way to get a gen 1 starter relatively early?

Just got it. Last one in the store. I like it a lot so far, feels a lot different to the older games.

It's almost like playing the Anime.

Flip a coin 3 times

If its two heads - popplio

If its two tails - Rowlet

If its 3 heads or 3 tails - litten

Here you go

Litten!!!!!!!!
Popplio!!!!
Rowlet!!!!!!

Thank you both, I think I clicked the top one first so Litten it is then.

Not starting till tomorrow, so I may forget and randomize it again anyway. But I like cats, so.

Jelly of you guys who are already playing.

Just noticed this while playing, anyone know what this is? I had nintendo repair the lcd before but never noticed this.

So I won't have a 3DS till next week, can I start on my girlfriends system and then go play on mine. I noticed the game card saved something to the SD card.

I don't have the game yet, hopefully I will tomorrow! But I have a question about changing the 3DS clock. Basically where I live does DST, and I held off changing my 3DS clock because I was playing the Sun/Moon demo and didn't want to mess things up on my demo.

What's the best way to change the time without screwing things up on Pokemon Sun? I still have to wait until Sunday to see the girl off at the docks and receive the demo item from that (I started my demo late), but I want to play Sun tomorrow. ): The other 3DS games paused daily events for 48 hours after you changed the clock, right? Is it the same with Sun and Moon?

So I can't help but notice that all trainer encounters seem to have the same music so far? I'm hoping that's just the early-game, and once I get past the beginning portion of the story, I'll start hearing unique themes, because it's... kinda disappointing. I LOVE the encounter themes of all generations, so it would be a shame if they, for whatever reason, decided to go with just one mundane 3-4 second long song. :(

There's only one or two other encounter songs in the rest of the game. Sorry to break it to you, it kinda sucks :/

Sweet Jesus it takes so long to actually get going. Nearly an hour and I'm not yet on my own to explore yet

I caught a Pichu on Route 1, so I've got that going for me.

That's not until you get to the city, after finishing up the Trainer School thing (it's short). You can go to the apparel shop and salon there.
I'm sure you already mentioned this in the leak thread, but I had forgotten the specifics. Thanks for clarifying :-D

The game has been awfully chatty so far, and the load times in and out of menu/battle transitions is just a hare too lengthy, but everything else is near immaculate. Absolutely loving Alola - it already is a mighty contender for best region.

There's a significant proportion of Gen I and Gen II Pokemon, at least in the early areas. I don't know about the rest of the game.

Unfortunately there's no way to get a Gen I starter without trading, and even then you'll have to wait until the Pokebank opens in January and people and bring Pokemon from X and Y.

European here. The temptation to buy this digitally on my neglected Japanese New 3DS is growing exponentially. Only thing keeping me strong is the decent price I preordered it for and the fact I have loads of other games to hold my attention this weekend.

Enjoy guys!

Looking forward getting this game today.

Other than Ash's Greninja, is there any exclusive & relevant item to be collected by playing the demo prior starting Sun/Moon? Like exclusive stones or the like? I didn't play the demo past the battle with the grunt leader and I feel I'll lose something good..

Edit: Looked it up online. Apparently nothing of a big deal.

You're right. But it makes it just the more inconvenient to me that the touch screen is much more difficult to use with one hand, especially since my 3DS is ancient and the shoulder buttons are extraordinarily inconsistent. While one can say that's my fault, I don't think the positives gained from changing the UI outweigh the negatives even remotely.

Then how do I move when movement is relegated to the left hand? I live in the city and I frequently find myself on public transportation. One handed play is essential for me.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of public transportation do you take that only allows one hand to be free? Or is it so packed that you always have to stand and hold a rail?

Great start, I like the mystery hook.

And then I dug a little deeper and I remembered why I hate knowing more about Pokemon's systems. I got a jolly Popplio and now I feel like I want to restart.

I'm looking for alternate ways to play. Any other things besides Nuzlocke?

There's putting the game on Set in the options menu and not playing with the EXP share and not using items in battle. It'll probably be sufficient for a decent challenge on the first run without going for a full nuzlocke.
