If you have prime, make sure to chat with them and tell them you didn't get the delivery they promised. They generally give you +1 month of prime extension free
I remember when Prime was still new I was given a 30-Day free trial. I ordered something on Amazon that I could have gotten nearby because I wanted to test the convenience of release-day delivery. It ended up not coming on release day.
So I started a customer support chat and asked what they would do to compensate me and they said nothing because it was a free trial and I didn't pay anything for the free expedited shipping. I said I may not have paid for it, but I chose Amazon because I was promised a particular level of service and I did not receive it. They said there was nothing to compensate me for.
And I'm not dumb - I know that I didn't pay for it. I wasn't asking for a refund, but I was hoping they would extend my free trial. I was mad and ended up canceling it and didn't get Amazon Prime again for several years. All my stuff has been delivered on time since then, but whenever I hear about people having problems with "guaranteed delivery dates," I remember how mad I was.
It's one thing to not get something when you are expecting it. But it's worse when you could drive thirty minutes and get that same thing yourself. But with how prevalent Amazon has become, it's getting harder to do that, so maybe you just always have to deal with it.
