Route one near the first town or haooli city. It felt more common in the coty to me as an fyi
Route 1 in some grass patches and Hau'oli City. He's one of the rarer guys though.

There's someone in the game that tells you there's around a 1 in 4000 chance of getting a Shiny. So, same as the previous gen.

With millions of people playing, this is going to happen to a lot of people even if being the one it happens to is unlikely
It's the same as XY, 1 in 4096.
There's even an NPC that says it's "around 1 in 4000" or something.

Do you unlock any hairstyles besides the first ones you see? Kinda a disappointing selection.
So far it seems only can brush off dirt on pokemon and stuff like that. Not sure how it helps though. You drag and then rub it on the pokemon
Like Pokémon amie, petting and feeding your Pokémon raises their affection. The higher their affection the more likely they are to do things like dodge moves, shake off status effects, and tough out moves with one HP
in addition, refresh added the ability to use medicine to remove status effects from your Pokémon post battle.

Two hearts shown on the switching screen is enough for the (I think 30%) EXP boost (and to evolve Eevee into Sylveon upon level up with fairy move).
Going beyond that starts to give the more crazy boosts like dodging moves.
Yeah it's about dragging the right icon if you're doing it post battle and then rubbing and doing so gains a few hearts of affection.
Get 100 points via QR scan (any QR codes can be used). Save game. Do island scan and it is one of 28 species that are not in the Pokedex and the game tells you what route they are on (it is always the island you are currently on). You have an hour to catch it. They can't call for help so no HA. Still the (species found via island scan)
Gen II and Gen V starters are worth catching in non-Pokeballs so when bank does open you can pass the ball down...if you're a ball enthusiast like me 
If you get one you don't like just soft reset and change islands,
There is also speculation that SoS chains (pokemon keep calling for help) have an increased chance of shiny appearances (they certainly start getting guaranteed perfect IVs and HAs showing up) and unlike previous chaining methods you can get it into a fairly unbreakable state.
But yeah shiny reports are always high at the start of a gen because you have millions of players.
An NPC outright says it increases shiny rates, so it's not speculation.
Buy the Target copy, save the reciept, play immediately. Return the Amazon copy to Target, retain pre-order pricing overall.
You can save and just reload with L+R+Select
I don't think you see the gender until they ask you if you want to name it.
Its set when you choose, but the last chance to save is about ~5 minutes from the choice.

Two questions regarding Festival Plaza.
1) What's the fastest way to level up facilities? Cause if it's just by using them by myself, that's looks like it's going to take forever. I never messed with Join Avenue in BW2 much, so I don't remember how it worked there.
2) Is there a way to get rid of that green ! on the menu by the Festival Plaza icon. It's bugging me. I think I've talked to everyone in the Plaza, but it's still there.

Of course, anything is better than Gen V.
1)I'm not sure, but if you level up your plaza, sometimes Sophicles will offer you a new building. I've had him introduce Rare Kitchen 2, a straight upgrade to Rare Kitchen 1. There is also another upgrade that lets you buy shops from other guests with Festival Coins. But since today is day one, people probably won't have a lot of options.

Worst part is that not only is he my favorite Gen I Pokémon but it seems like he's the only one that got hit with a nerf
and maybe the 3 dogs depending on your take of Inner Focus
