Any news on the Multiplayer patch?

Also.. what's a good way to escape police when you have 3 Alerts.. I find you need a fast car to even have a chance.. they just spawn too quickly in your area/direction of travel and the chopper doesn't help. I just give up right away if I screw up and get too high of alerts..

My shotgun pretty much one hit kills everybody. It doesn't seem to ever need ammo, so I assume they got rid of ammo pick-ups?

Also, it's kind of odd how, for a game about hacking, the hacking is the worst/most boring part of the gameplay.

Nah, I loved the hacking and that's how I played through the entire game. But see this is why I don't want them to remove guns, so more people can enjoy the game.

Picked this game up on PS4 Friday. I love it so far. I have been sticking to side missions because I want to experience everything this game has to offer. The world is so interesting and colorful.

I like some of it, like hacking random pedestrians and stealing their money or causing disruptions/annoyances with guards.

But I don't like how often I have to hack a sever or hack keypads to get into places (some of which is negated when enemies burst through doors to shoot at me), or how slow it gets when I need to use the land drone.

Also, unlike the last game, it seems like you have a really short window to trigger pipe bursts when cops are on your tail and it's finicky, plus there's less incentive to make traps.

Even though the driving isn't great overall, I did quite enjoy the motocross and kart races.

The best thing about this game, is I can finally get revenge on the Bush Man, by the pier, for the last time he got me at San Fran. Ordered a hit on him (after getting a selfie natch)

Finally finished. My opinion never really changed. I found it to be a solid open world game where the gameplay just wasn't made to my taste.

It has a fun premise, vast improvement in the story, world design and character dept compared to WD1.

Its just that the gameplay never clicked for me. Its not bad, everything works i just didn't find it satisfying. The guns never felt good, i never found a spec i liked to really go loud and stealth made me feel like i was hiding rather than sneaking, more rabbit than panther.

I usually just ended up hiding, setting the environmental traps using the cameras and drones and thowing out the charges and shocks. Clearing a section without reinforcements being called then moving forward.

The environmental puzzles started out fun then got fairly repetitive. It became send up a drone or look for a crane or cherry picker. I would have liked a few more pipe puzzles (or whatever those redblue line puzzles are).

I did all the story side stuff but none of the races and i grabbed very few collectables and took even less selfies. I dont think im gonna bother.

All in all im glad i played it but i find it hard to recommend.

You have to buy ammo at pawn shops. I did run out of ammo on the launcher at times, but I didn't catch if it was replenishing ammo after a death or fast travel or something.

I can't find anyone puking. I thought I would've by now.

Anyways, got a question. How far am I if I just met and teamed up with
Raymond Kenny
? I'm about to start his first mission.

I only have the game 'till Wednesday, and have been putting a good amount of time into it.

If you're going for the trophy for taking a pic of someone puking, just walk around the pier at night. What I did and found someone.

can't wait to play this. but since i'm getting it on PC i do need to wait :(

i enjoyed the first game. really hated the driving though. sounds like watch dogs 2 is a huge improvement so i'm sure i'll have a load of fun.

I know you can buy ammo at pawn shops but where do you buy the real world weapons?

Im carrying the Goblin (mini M4) which I think I got from a copper early in the game. Feels and looks better than the 3D printed Dedsec equivalent.

This doesn't change much throughout the game, but I wouldn't really call that the "hacking" part of the gameplay as its pretty much only done to trigger a cutscene (at least when Marcus has to hack into it himself). As for pipe bursts, trigger them when they're in front of you and they'll go off only when a cop drives through it so don't worry, you and any other civilians will be safe driving through them.

Hacking gameplay to me is using the cameras, and environment to incapacitate, distract or eliminate the enemy but I do agree that it can become incredibly slow when using drones, especially when they break and you have to wait for them to recharge.

But generally before I go into an area I like to have all the enemies removed so what I do is arrest all those that can call reinforcements, and try to take out the rest using stuns, explosives, etc and if things get hectic or there are just too many or its a situation where the above wont work then I call in a gang hit. When there are a few or no enemies left I'll sent in Marcus to get the objective. It takes a hell of a lot of patience and time but I found it to be an enjoyable way to play them game.

I played one of the later missions using the grenade launcher and that was a hell of a lot of fun too so I'm considering doing a lethal second playthrough.

Looking back at it, I understand why people say it's weird for Dedsec to use weapons, in any other situation you'd be considered a terrorist and it is strange for a hacker group to have snipers and grenade launchers. But I don't think that they should remove weapons entirely as it removes gameplay variety and replay value along with shrinking your audience. On one hand I'd be okay with them toning it down and having less extreme weapons available, like there's logically no reason for them to have grenade launchers, snipers and assault rifles. But on the other hand, if you get caught you get shot at and you should have a way to defend yourself, america allows citizens to carry guns and most importantly, it's just fun. So I'm not sure what I want in regards to guns in Watch_Dogs 3 but I still say they shouldn't remove them completely.

There has to be an Easter egg with gnomes , I swear I see them all around the city in places you least expect . Can't remember but I'm pretty sure there's one in your main base as well.

Came across a map of their locations.

Also are the dead bodies throughout the map have anything to do with the zodiac killer? I have the mission available just haven't got to it let.

Oh, you can only pick those up temporarily from enemies.

I have the Goblin permanently in my arsenal. Its there every time I load back into the game. I was tempted earlier to swap it out for an AK47 during a mission but i'm glad I stuck with it.

What if you switch one of your slots to another weapon, though? I assume the only way to get it back would be to find another in the world.

Those bodies are not related to any story mission. There is more story content coming so it could be pre-work or just the devs being weird.

So I wrote this game off after how boring the first one felt. Is this one worth getting? I just had a great time with Mafia even with the repetition.

I've just started it and after around an hour and a half of play, I'm not totally convinced.

I'm not finding the game mecahnically satisfying under my thumbs. It feels imprecise and fiddly.

Ubisoft has obviously worked hard to make the characters more likeable than the previous game and I commend the developers for their efforts, but, at least initially, I don't like any of them.

The humour feels a little forced too - and I don't usually mind that, I loved Sunset Overdrive.

I'm not going to give up on it as I had a good time with the original, but it just all feels a bit clumsy to me.

However, I appreciate the lighter tone and the use of the phone is extremely clever.

Again, I've not played a lot though so we'll see how it picks up.

So is there any way to escape the cops once they get a helicopter? Because I can get away from the cars but the helicopter is always on me so I can never escape. I swear losing cops is way harder than GTA and is just makes me never want to mess around chaotically.

Also the police chopper is annoying as fuck. The constant this is the police, pull over lines being at 200% volume from your rear speakers is stupid. Living in America I have to turn down my sound whenever this happens so my neighbors don't actually think a police raid is happening outside their house -_-

Pretty easy, just find alley ways and use Circle (PS4) to hide in the car once out of sight. Start a gang war or call cops on random people to take the heat off.

The first times I had to escape choppers it was fucking frustrating but I just started using every tiny alley I could to lose em.

Going off road helps too.

I'll try the alley thing but was doing lots of off road which got the cars away but the chopper would follow me off-road wherever I went and off road there's nowhere to hide. I don't have any of the gang war stuff, I should probably upgrade that.

What a strange game this turned out to be, so many improvements were made but they're almost entirely negated by flaws not present in the first game. If you fused the two together you would have a GOTY contender.

In what ways is it worse then the first game? I beat and enjoyed the first game even with its flaws and feel like this game is better in every regard. Just curious what I'm not remembering

I got the platinum trophy in the first game and the only thing WD2 is missing is the bullet time.

If you're going for the trophy for taking a pic of someone puking, just walk around the pier at night. What I did and found someone.

That's what I read online, and tried. I went there three times, once during the night and twice during the day. The person recommended the Oakland pier.

Thanks for the tip, though.

Good points

I mean using the drone, looking for servers inside of contested/enemy buildings and hacking them to progress main missions or side missions. It gets boring.

I'm liking it more and more, the more I play it. There are things that bug me, though, and I wouldn't buy it because once I'm done I'll be done.

The city is pretty great, and there's some good side stuff, but the hacking is overdone. Then again, you are a hacker so there's that lol.

You have to buy ammo at pawn shops. I did run out of ammo on the launcher at times, but I didn't catch if it was replenishing ammo after a death or fast travel or something.

Oh, okay. That's the one store I haven't visited, although I've been meaning to.

I've never ran out of ammo or seen an indicator.

Really enjoying it, however I'm finding the checkpointing system to be terrible.

Generally, good fun so far though. I've just stopped playing for the night as I'm a bit fed up of having to do recon/data key hunting/jumper stuff etc. all over again just because I got shot.

Controls and gunplay. The first had essentially the best controls ever in an open world game, it was basically a Max Payne 3 sandbox. I get that 2 has hacking as the main focus but they could have just kept the movement and shooting mechanics of the first. The combat in this is just nowhere near as fun as it was in WD1 and the constant calling for backup gets tiresome. Zero improvements to the driving is another pretty big flaw, but that was the same in the first game.

Really? How has the checkpoint system hurt you?

I've found it to be really good thus far. Dishonored 2's auto-save feature failed me a few times, though.

Hope this doesn't get lost in here. Seeking "help" from people who completed iz already. So spoilers obviously.

Just completed the mission where you get Wrench's mask back. How far in am I?

You've still got a good amount to go. You're like 2/3rds, maybe half of you do some Sidequests too.

Started playing last night. This game is a lot of fun. I was in tears at some points just laughing at the random shit and the reactivity of the world. Riding a forklift sitting atop the cargo box fucking up intersections is not getting old. Also been playing totally non violent but there have been a few accidental casualties. :(

Not the best part of the game but damn fun, yes.

Okay. We'll respectfully disagree. :)

I'm not shitting on the game. I don't think the hacking is awful. It's just tedious. I'm not a stealth gamer, though, nor am I a big fan of hacking in games.

I enjoy the other aspects more, but I don't speak for everyone.

I've had to pop a few people too :(

I'm super selective with who I kill, I'm doing as non lethal as I can. I have no problem calling in gang hits though....wasn't me :p

I agree, but there's still something very likable about this game. Completing a mission from your car with just the drone + jumper feels really cool, and probably closer to what Watch Dogs should be than Aiden Piece shooting up gang hideouts (which was also a lot of fun, tbh). And the city activity is sometimes leaps and bounds ahead, which offers a kind of fun and liveliness not even present in the first game. It's disappointing that the core visceral thrills of shootouts and driving aren't up to the first game or improved, respectively, but it's still fun.

Even in the WD1 thread I posted about how nice this aspect of the game was, much better than GTA5's honestly. I remember watching two kids play a pretty elaborate game of badminton in the first game.

I just find it strange they chose to abandon arguably the best aspect of the first game. The foundation of WD1 was really good and they could have just improved everything around it to produce something special. It's just a little disappointing they squandered that aspect of the game even if there are other huge improvements.

Apparently missions are like a one-life job. Die at any point in a mission and you're kicked back to the start.

Funny, Dishonored 2's system has actually saved my ass a few times. Do you live in opposite world?

Had a mission in

building that I failed like 4 times until I hid somewhere and let my drone do the second half of the mission. Speed boost and high jump are great

Driving the drone around and hacking servers behind locked doors is the best part of the game? No way.

People earlier in the thread were literally saying they'd gone 7+ hours without firing a gun, that they just hacked stuff and messed around, using the environment and stealth to surpass missions, and exploring causing chaos in the sandbox - and were having a whale of a time. Said it was the best way to play.

IIRC these were the same people who consider the game a GotY contender.

Edit: oh and I should mention that people on the very last page were also saying that guns were really underpowered and that shotguns were taking 4-5 shots to kill cops, while you're here saying it's an OHK device! Your experience seems totally at odds, haha. (I don't have the game yet, waiting on PC version - I'm just observing.)

Yep. I commented on that as well back when W_D1 released. It was my favorite "walking around" experience in an open world. The first time I felt like a game had captured the normality of a big city with all of the canned animations and pedestrian placement (leaning on buildings, sitting in weird areas, playing actual games in parks, relaxing in backyards, physically touching each other, etc.) GTAV was also interesting to walk around, but at no time did I feel that game was not out to get me or itself. The inherent aggression of GTA holds it back from feeling like a realistic place. W_D2 is even better in that respect because not only does it still have all those canned things, there's another layer of dynamic activity that can happen totally independent of the player that comes out of those canned animation loops, or just pops into existence through the game's randomness.

They still have a ways to go though. I'd like to see people actually gitting on/off public transportation and using Uber/taxi equivalents. And, like I've mentioned before, not have bicycles in the game is a very weird omission.

I just find it strange they chose to abandon arguably the best aspect of the first game. The foundation of WD1 was really good and they could have just improved everything around it to produce something special. It's just a little disappointing they squandered that aspect of the game even if there are other huge improvements.

Again, I agree. The fun in W_D2 is way more laid back. I used to get really excited to do gang hideouts and convoys in the first game because combat was so silky smooth. Aiden felt like a powerhouse as an aggressor, or a really slick ghost when stealthly.

Just used a motorcycle to jump across a ramp that I think was meant for the jumper to nab one of the key datas. This game is alright.

I do like that they make you work for those.
