I think the biggest gripe I have with the game so far is that most of the new Alolan pokemon have low spawn rates.

I agree. A couple of 5-20% encounters and SOS exclusive mons is really annoying me. I would have completely missed Mareanie the entire game had I not looked it up.

In other news, I just found a level 10 Gyarados after a Magicarp called for aid only twice.

Beat the Pokemon League and caught Tapu Koko. I got stuck on the Ghost Elite Four for a bit as I had not very good dark moves and the Drifblim got really lucky with its ominous wind. Has EXP Share on but was on set. For the most part my levels were in sync with the trainers I was encountering though probably because I prefered to avoid grinding and avoiding trainers every now and then. When I first got to the Pokemon League, I was in fact underleveled and had to actually grind for a couple levels
My team was

• Artemis - Decidueye - Level 61

I barely averted tragedy when I realised that Petilil is useless for egg moves because it's female only. On the plus side, I managed to snag an Exeggcute over GTS and it learned Leaf Storm, so we're back in business.

Replaced my Lycanroc midnight form with Alolan Graveler, definitely a better choice imo (for my team anyway). I'll probably end up changing things up some more on the 4th island, though.

Breeding is so good in this game though. There's a space just outside the Nursery where you can spin around on a Tauros and hatch eggs + collect new ones in less than a minute.

Lots of people do Oranguru - Passimian trades and the like on there. They're just taken almost immediately so you don't get to see them, whereas the stupid ones aren't taken very often. If you put your own Passimian on there and asked for an Oranguru you'd probably get one very quickly.
