Pokémon Sun & Moon |OT| Ultra Beasts and where to find them

Can you SR for a better nature and is it shiny locked?

You can SR, synchro might work and last I heard it might not be shiny locked.

It's a gift, rather than captured.

Edit: Yeah, it looks like it's not shiny locked (unlike all of the legendaries/ultra beasts).

I absolutely love the ending of this game.

I caught it with an ultra ball. There's some dude that will give you 10 of them if you enough Pokemon in your PokeDex; fairly early into the game too.
I fought him after the League. Pokeballs weren't the issue. I just didn't have the right Pokémon to help capture him so it just took a bit longer.
The game forces you to fight him after the league with no saves in-between.

I'm really amused at how the Abra family has gotten the short end of the stick two generations in a row, lol. First Megakazam only has a +90 stat boost instead of the +100 that all other megas get due to its standard form's buff, now the "learning moves upon evolution" feature is glitched for it leaving it without any attacks for multiple levels.

Yeah I think Sun Moon succeded in city music and background drops but nothing comes close to matching the Champion themes of early gens or Zinnia of ORAS in terms of Sun/Moon encounter themes.

The ambient styles are beautiful but the more high-beat stuff is mixed. The somber tracks of certain story battles and goffy punk-rock Skull ones are amazing as fk tho. Bascially everything sides the "EPIC" tracks are great.

Pokemon might be better off not trying to keep referencing old songs in their new ones.
There weirdly doesn't seem to be as many battle themes compared to previous games. And at
the Battle Tree
the
returning trainers all use their original system's music instead of remasters/remixes (except Red and Blue). Kind of hilarious in Anabel's case.
Not really a fan of
"League Title Defense!"
but since that's meant to be
your champion theme
I get why it's the way it is.
"Lusamine, Version 2"
is also pretty forgettable, which is a shame since the first version is good. I love the foreshadowing of both
Aether and Team Skull (Guzma) in each other's battle themes
though.

Personally I think
"Enter the Ultra Beasts"
,
"Elite Four"
and the legendary themes are among the series' best though. Need headphones to truly appreciate them though. It's too bad the 3DS is so bad at outputting sound.

Incidentally, is there a thread where we can discuss the story/spoilers/etc.?

I've gone through the first two islands and while I love free running, does the world just feel kind of small to anyone else? Each area feels really tiny to me.

I'm having a lot of fun, but I hope the next game is a more traditional Pokemon with gyms and whatnot. I'm not a fan of the story and the cutscenes seem to eat up a lot of time.

I disagree on the grounds that the routes are really, really narrow. Like fuck, even Kalos and Unova routes don't have this "this is the only pathway" in design.

Yeah. The routes and "dungeons" are suuuuuuuuuuuper boring and linear. One branch at most usually and it just loops around anyway.

Completely disagree with your music opinions though. I love the soundtrack in this game. The Skull themes (all of them), Hau's theme, Kukui's theme, the first cities theme. All great stuff and varied.

This may seriously be the best Pokemon game ever for me.
That's funny, I was thinking the opposite. It's so slooooowwwwww. 8 hours in and stil every five feet an NPC needs to hold my hand and walk me to the next objective, or I'll just get stuck in a battle with a wild pokemon that keeps (slowly) calling reinforcements. This game is a slog.

EDIT: Oh, also the 7 goddamn menu/pokedex screens I need to wait for and click through every time I catch a new pokemon. Christ.

Seriously tho. That lady who gives you Lapras keeps turning up disappointed that there aren't hunky shirtless swimmers making those splashes.
I'm going on record and saying those shirtless swimmers are hot as hell, would bang.

Alright here's my ending team:
Zephyr/Decidueye lvl 55
Artemis/Lunala lvl 56
Horseshoe/Golisopod lvl 55
Socket/Magnezone lvl 54
Tooky Tooky/Toucannon lvl 52
Sassy/Salazzle lvl 52

Im on the first island, almost through route 3, does the handholding let up? So far I really like the game but there are some minor annoyances with the engine, handholding and there seems to be more Kanto pokemon than new pokemon.

Not even to mention when you're hanging out with your mom and the porch and she thinks someone's at the door, then mentions it's probably the hot shirtless professor who regularly lets himself in. Mom. Why the fuck isn't this house unpacked yet. What's keeping you so busy during the day?

There are tons of Kanto 'mons, and you continue having quest markers and frequent stops for short dialog bits. Some of the fights can be surprisingly tough on the first try, but usually aren't seriously difficult if you know what you're up against.

Tried using the SOS mechanic with Eevee on Route 4, but all I got was more Eevees. Aren't we supposed to be able to get Espeon/Umbreon on Route 4?

man the Festival Plaza is just...bleh:

- Luck based facilities that hold worthwhile items with only a one try per day limit.
- If you replace a facility with another one you can't get the old one back as far as I know.
- Ranking up just seems to give out a random facility with a random level. Ends up being really luck based.
- Buying facilities off other players requires a lot of Festival Coins. It's very grindy to buy something like a 4*+ facility off another player and you have to hope that a guest in your plaza actually has the one you want and that it's also in the right spot in their plaza.
- You don't get that many coins from the global missions. From the ones I have the highest one gives out 6-60 and takes 3 minutes. But getting the maximum amount requires a lot of participants so on average you'll likely end up getting a lot less than that. In the Type Matchup one the most I can get is 25 if I'm doing it on my own or if there are only a couple of participants. It costs like 800 coins for a 4* facility.
- tbh what bothers me the most are the daily limits on buying the various things in the facilities.

I actually like the little minigame missions, but I can't say I'm a fan of practically everything else. :\

Holy shit! Minor spoilers here, Apparently,
there's a law in Alola that you can't use HM moves outside of battle and people are using Poke rides instead. A tourist from Johto attempted to use Fly but got told off not to use it lol.
Bless you Game Freak, please keep this in future regions.

Buying clothes in the Festival Plaza sucks. The dialogue implies the person will offer a different item each day, but they don't. Bleh.

Thinking about using some of my single player Pokemon for online. Just don't know if the natures are good. Can anyone tell me?

Spectial Attack Up/Speed down for Primerina (Seems perfect.)
Attack up/Special attack down for Toucannon (Also seems perfect.)
Attack up for Tarserina (Seems perfect too. Forgot what was down and don't have access atm. Think it was one of the defences. (Also seems good.)
Special Defense Up/Attack down for Pikachu/soon to be Raichu (Always thought it'd be special focused but the stats from a glance this seems bad.)
Forgot what was up/Attack down for Sandilit/soon to be Salazzle (This also seems bad.)

It's not that hard to find new Pokemon. Once you've seen a Pokemon (i.e. battled it), you can look it up in the Pokedex and it tells you exactly where to find it. Down to the specific patch of grass on a specific route.
In some cases... In other cases it's unusable (like the meadow, you don't have a single clue where it is or even
if it's in the hidden cave
).

I'm really undecided if I should get this at launch on Friday. I ended up quitting both X and Alpha Sapphire before even beating the main game because I always get tired of Pokemon games following the same formula.

I do like how this one doesn't have the typical 8 gyms, and doesn't use a grid-based movement system anymore, but I'm not sure if that's enough. I want to be swayed, but at the same time, I don't want to get burned out after a few hours again.

What else does Sun/Moon do to mix things up and appeal to people who got tired of Pokemon some time ago?

I just spent over 3 hours (in a single battle) chaining Stuffur to try to get a shiny. Well over 400 turns overall. Accidentally used Razor Leaf. Battle over.

Why the fuck do I insist on ruining Pokemon games for myself? Sigh

They really aren't fucking around about people eating Pokémon and wearing their pelts and shit in this dex lmao
Theory regarding the dex:
Its not because of Rotom but after I just met Lusamine I think its because she's doing it to get people to save more Pokemon. I don't care if it doesn't add up in the story, it just makes to much sense so it is my fan canon.

Trying to find Stufful

First one has bad nature

*Find another one*

The second one has naughty nature

"Not too bad"

*Has klutz ability*

...Lord please help me get through this.
