Watch_Dogs 2 |OT| .HTML

PC gamer here. As someone who enjoyed Watch_Dogs, yet still found there to be TONS of room for improvement - would you recommend this sequel as a Day 1 purchase to someone like me?

I'd suggest you read up on it a bit. It's improved in many ways but also a step back in some. So depending what you liked and didn't about the first one, I'd be cautious. But I absolutely think it's worth a shot from anyone, especially someone who liked the first game

Edit: That was a really vague response. Most people seem to agree the driving is the same or worse, and that the stealth and combat are not as good.

Consensus is that the world, NPCs, characters, and story are miles ahead

Critics universally agree that WD2 is way better than the first game. I'd pick it up provided the PC port lives up to expectations.

Whats your hard on for Naughty Dog?
I never really relate to the dialogue in ND games since they're always Hollywood versions of "relatable" characters, like Ellie's dialogue consisting of Ellen Page's dialogue long whenever she was typecasted as a sarcastic teenager, (the beginning of Hard Candy, Juno, Super). The best example of when it wasn't like this was in UC2 imho.

That pretty much describes me, and yes I totally recommend WD2. It doesn't do combat as well as WD1, but it doesn't emphasize combat as much as WD1 did, either. It's way more about stealth. IMO the driving is much better. WD1's driving was very stiff and unresponsive, it took me a lot of time and effort to finally get comfortable with it. It only took a couple of hours for me to completely get a handle on WD2's driving. The difference in tone is night and day. Seems pretty obvious to me that GTA4 was a huge inspiration on WD1, and GTA5 was the main inspiration for WD2.

Okay...

How the hell do you get to that Dan remote server that's stuck underground in the Zodiac Killer-Mission?

I have noooooo clue!

Edit:
And I found it. 😂

I'm probably late with this but the WD2 theme looks really good on the Pro.

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
My review, after ten or twelve hours: So fucking boring /10.

P.S. also, shitty driving.

Another unfinished game on the pile.

Just finished the game. Hoollyy shit, as I said before...one of my top 3 GOTY.

The characters were all unique, the world was vibrant and writing top notch. The game never took itself too seriously, poking fun at itself at times.

The gameplay was something else, I barely killed anyone with my own hands. Amazing stealth mechanics...using the RC and Drone in different ways was so much fun, I didn't even mind dying because I could try the mission in another manner.

The side quests are fucking great as well, I'm going to wrap them up and finish some of the ScoutX pictures as well before FFXV hits. Ubisoft really has something special here. Can't wait for WD3.

This world is so much fun, not a lot of games keep me playing after I finish them.

So so good.

I was kinda shocked Wrench doesn't have RC toys like Marcus, not even the jumper. He did have both (non-maxed?) gang/police abilities though which is just as broken as bombing people if you have some patience.

I'd like to see someone clear that using the sniper rifle he comes equipped with, maybe you could pick people off from the building across the way?
Spoilers for final mission
The sniper rifle is how I ended up doing it after a bunch of failed attempts on realistic difficulty. Hid by the corner of that other building, and picked people off as they approached. Got nearly everyone that way, used the grenade launcher on the reinforcement cars, then ran in around the back with a shotgun to clean up and infiltrate the bunker.

lol I started hacking this person while they were on the lift, I gain control of the lift and drove them around block repeatedly while myself hiding in the bushes.

Initial thoughts.

I feel like I am battling the controls. The player seems very floaty, and the animations look subpar in some spots.

I want to play all stealth, but so far, every mission I end up in a gunfight. I want something different, methodical sneaking around, etc.

The driving is fucking terrible.

I'm going to keep playing, but I'll admit, I'm a little disappointed.

Finished the main game, only thing I need for the platinum now are these random dedsec events. Can you control or influence how they trigger? Seems random and I think I only completed one or two so far. Do you get a higher chance of them happening if you're in co-op?

From what I've read stealth is not easy until you have a bunch of upgrades, and the Drone /rc are pretty much prerequisites.

Frankly the game's opening hours don't sound that well balanced.

Focus on doing side content to save up initially.

I have DMZ'ed my PS4 and I still get NAT2.

Don't listen to him. He has no idea what he is talking about.

NAT Type 2 is the optimal for a PS4 that is connected through a router. It's the equivalent of an open NAT on Xbox. Everything is properly set up and all ports necessary are a-okay.

NAT Type 1 is only achievable by directly connecting your PS4 to a modem which no one does anymore unless they have internet from the Stone Age.

Only NAT Type 3 is bad. You are fine.

platinumed the game today. took me about 35h, all the missions except like 3 side ops.

really really good game, thought it was too gimmiky at the begining but after i got used to it it was great. its not gimmiky, its giving you options how you wanna play.

i RARELY shot my gun, mostly in pvp and only for the trophies. after you get the rc and quad upgrades the game is easy mode on.

i was astonished by some of the missions, realy interesting stuff! not like ubisoft... lol

id gave it a solid 9/10!

one of the best 30 quid i ever spent (reduced coz i got it with the pro)

Yeah they seem to pop up a lot more in co-op just after finishing a co-op mission.

Those secret trophy operations...what are they? Story related?.

Yeah story related, aside from maybe one operation but you'll come across that quickly pretty sure.

Anyone interested in trying to get the "One of the Gang" trophy? Apparently the Deadsec events you need to complete for said trophy only (or at least mostly) appear when in free-roam co-op.

I'm on PS4. PM me if your down.

I just got the game today.

I am playing the tutorial mission, and this honestly might be the worst introductory mission I have ever had to go through.

First of all - the game plays the same background track with an irritating electronic piano rift over and over. Please tell me that this isn't the default background music for every mission in the game.

Second - I am trapped trying to hack a system and there are 12 guards on 3 levels. As such, I have absolutely no margin for error here. Every time I make a move, the other guards are alerted - which soon leads to them shooting and killing me.

It's so unforgiving and then they play the same dialogue over and over and over again each time I fail.

The impressions in this thread are so positive, which is why I bought the game, but this first mission is excruciating.

The only answer is to move.

Move around , don't stay in the same place and progress!
Dont hesitate to do a takedown ( melee ) and keep advancing.
At this point , you have no hacking toold , no gadgets , no perks , so don't try to be 100% stealthy.

Thanks for the tips! I finally played through it. It is nice that you go right from this to having almost full access to the open world. I can definitely see the game's charm now, as San Francisco is absolutely alive in this game.

I use stealth up to the point I'm spotted, then I just pull out the assault rifle. It's kind of hilarious that you're running with a group of hackers who won't even comment when you gun down thirty people.

I think I might need to try that. I have been going full stealth but feel as though it is getting a bit redundant. The AI just doesn't really seem built to support a stealth game. I just feel weird killing everyone as it kinda breaks my connection to the narrative.

Just had 3 invasions where I got up to 95%+ data downloaded and the other person left so it didn't count as a win. Freaking awesome.

Not sure if invasions count as DedSec events or whatever needed for that trophy. Got the two chase trophies though.

Also can't find anyone for co-op, it seems to search for 5-10 seconds then gives up. Co-op missions are easy enough to complete without a partner, but that doesn't get you that trophy.

Oh well, could be worse. Could be a Drinking Game trophy.

Yep, but they definitely pop up in singleplayer as well. Last night when I went to close the game I immediately got one, the final one needed for the trophy.

I think being in co-op increases your chances of getting a Dedsec event, but you can get them solo as well.

Pretty much an effortless platinum this :)

I was recently gifted WD2.

My conundrum is I'm getting a PS4 Pro in about 3 weeks so I'm not sure if I should start my playthrough on the new system or dive in now.

For those who have played on Pro is it worth waiting for that to play?
I've read around the IQ is extremely clean on the Pro.

Also the good impressions in this thread make the wait a little harder.
