Reading up on the character rights, this all sounds like a nightmare. Like even if Marvel has the video game rights, they don't want to promote a FOX movie IP etc.
What a bunch of garbage.

Nah.

The exact thing will happen that happened with Marvel 2 to 3 and SF4 to SF5: Like 80% of the top players will migrate completely and the old game will die.

Marvel 3 has basically been a husk of it's former self for two years anyway.
 
Don't see them dropping 3v3 anyway.

Marvel 2 and 3 are basically the only MvC games that matter at all. It'd be a little like thinking GTA will go back to top down gameplay.

Yeah it definitely helped. I ended up only learning a few nuanced combos with one character while the other two was just the basic 1 2 3 --> Launch --> Air 1 2 3 --> Down --> Super combo that almost everyone can do. Combos have always been my worst skill in fighting games.

Honestly, I'd probably rather have 3v3 and not have a character I want in it than have 2v2 and have them be a cameo assist.
 
A few pros and cons of 1 assist vs 2 assists:

1 Assist:
Easier to learn
Limits combo potential to decrease overall damage (unlikely to get 1 touch kills unless by some other mechanic)
Since you only get one assist, characters that aren't versatile will be forced to pick the "best" assist to cover all their holes

2 Assists:
More variation in gameplay
Could increase team selection as two characters that wouldn't be viable with access to only one assist may now have additional options
More "flashiness"

I'd rather have a remaster for Chip N Dale than an X-Menless Marvel vs. Capcom or 2v2+assist.

Dat Marvel is dat marvel. No compromises can be made!

Disney acknowledging Ducktales, and it leading into a reboot announcement years later, was a big deal.

BP will have Wolverine's moveset (install super and all). Scarlet Witch will be a toned down Magneto. Anyone else?

I can't imagine a Marvel game without Wolverine. It's like a Street Fighter without Ryu.

Its not that they cant use X-men. Fox only holds TV and Movie rights. The no x-men rumor is about Marvel not wanting to promote those characters. Also, Wolverine, Pietro, Wanda, Beast, Storm, Squirrel Girl, etc. are mutants (quicksilver and wanda origins remake was kinda bullshit) but have been Avengers too.

Yes, this game of twitter was enough fun during UMvC3. I'm not sure whether these are hints at all, and if they are, are they actually trying to say X-Men won't be in the game?
 
I think no one, including myself, would stand for a X-menless Marvel .vs Capcom game. It just doesn't make any sense.

It's not that they can't, it's that Marvel doesn't want to (or didn't want to, if the rumors of Marvel lifting the ban next year are true.

). Yes, some of them have been Avengers (hell, Pietro & Wanda are mainstay Avengers themselves), but clearly Marvel didn't care.

Also, Squirrel Girl isn't a mutant anymore, either. That being said, the way the comic handled the whole thing was funny (as the author kinda threw a shade on the Marvel execs).

Jesus marvel just sell the xmen franchise for a bazillion dollars and stop the dick moves on those poor mutants.

I also feel like this. In a 2v2 + assist, Gene from God Hand would definitely be relegated to assist status. He wouldn't make it into the core game, but maybe as DLC down the line one day.

If only they can handle it better this time around.

I want to believe it's going to happen. We all know the images are fake, but there sure is a lot of buzz from a lot of reputable sources.
