The Game Awards 2016 Thread: Kojima Time Featuring The Kojimas

Overwatch was the only choice for GOTY, and the only game I think would dethrone it in the last 10 years would be The Witcher 3. So well deserved. I love you Overwatch!

That was a good show. Not incredible or anything, but I don't think an award show could ever be "incredible." Geoff's doing things right.

Felt like a better produced but more boring VGA than the previous 2 years. At least it more or less stuck to the schedule.

A lot of duds were winning it felt like to me, but personal tastes and all that I suppose.

Fucking amazing. The concept, art, music...

No one else in this industry is putting out games like this...or at least look like this. It's all way too safe. Once again, though, Kojima proves he has the ability to fuse different themes and artistic styles to create one epic looking game.

I mean, when it comes to story complexity and depth, writing, and overall cinematic production quality, Kojima just can't be beat.

Edit - Wrong thread. I was looking for the Death Stranding thread. But yeah, good show!

God damn Blizzard is super smart. They take complicated games and make them more casual while pumping out amazing art and small tweaks.

EQ to WoW, Magic to HS, League/Dota to HotS, and now class-based-FPS to Overwatch.

It clearly works for them, so congrats.

Ugh. Could not have gone to a less deserving game.

Lots of better ones to choose from.

This is exactly my problem with it.

Wow guess you just have to make a game with barely any content and micro transactions to win goty. Fuck story fuck narrative.

You guys realize the fact that it's NOT a story centric, single player, linear game makes it something of an UPSET, right? I don't think we're quite at the point yet where we can start whining that UC4 was disadvantaged because of its single player, cinematic nature.
