YAY

*sees dotemu is porting it*

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I've never owned a dotEmu port, but I remember hearing non-specific negative things about their emulation. I'm already probably going to buy this, but what's the issue with dotEmu?

You better be able to disable the clock!!!!!

I like the game both ways, but they really ought to offer the option, both feel different and equally valid, and you know how intense it can get clock-free.

I really hope there's cross play and the option to turn off the timer.

Most exciting announcement out of PSX for me, lol

Crazy that they managed to take care of all the trademark issues. Sounded like it was burried in some kind of trademark hell.

Announcement made me go from "Sony why you so meh" to actually excited in a heartbeat. The true multiplayer game of the forever reclaiming its throne, at last!

Honestly a great game. I had played it a long time ago, but got in a couple hours on a MAME cabinet in 2013 and was just enraptured. Great, kinetic feel. Really polished. If you've ever liked a Mario Tennis or Super Dodge Ball anything like that, just a simple stripped down arcade sports game, you'll enjoy it. Really cool surprise.

The Sony stream after the conference tried to explain it... "Windjammers... uh... it's like an industry inside joke... Jeff Gerstmann from GiantBomb likes it... people on GAF like it... I think many people in the audience were too young to have played it... uh...."

I mean I'm of the arcade era but I don't ever remember seeing this game. I figured it had to be some secret cult GAF game. Looks like it could be fun, but are they really not even going to upres the sprites?

This is likely being emulated. I really doubt anyone has access to the original source code.

Definitely Giantbomb effect on this one. No way would this have came back like this without the brehs and lang apparently putting the spotlight on the game over the years.

They had a Windjammers/Samurai Shodown II cabinet at the card shop I used to play Friday Night Magic at in high school, ~15 years ago. That's where I first played it. It got a lot of my quarters.

I don't know what this. Never heard of it but it's by snk or a neo geo classic right? I'll buy it so they can continue to port other games.

The arcade version is quite rare even in 90s. Most people got exposure to Windjammers from the Neo Geo CD. Truly great game. Hopefully online is not garbage.

Hyperbole or for real? I've never even heard of it but I'm real interested in competitive multilayer that isn't a frustrating twitch shooter or my current and future stalwart Rocker League. Why should I be so hyped for this?

Damn, Giant Bomb and NeoGAF pretty much willed this motherfucker into existance! We did it, duders!

I haven't played this game before myself, but it looks awesome from the Giant Bomb coverage, and some friends of mine were talking a few years ago about how great the arcade version was (they didn't remember the name, but how many "two-player frisbee arcade game"s are there?). That also means that at least one arcade machine of Windjammers must exist in here in Austin...anyone know anything about that?

Also, #fuckdavelang

It's frisbee pong with super moves. The music is good, the animations are good, the sound fx are good, the controls are good, it's all good. There's a lot of strategy involved, lots of mind games, with a pretty big move set to work with. It's super fast and easy to pick up and play. Perfect arcade game.

Ah ok that makes sense. So emulated games don't require anything but what about ports of older games?

Like for example UMVC3?

I mean, all we saw was leaked slides. Publishers could have gotten the rules they don't like changed or tweaked for certain circumstances and not every game has to have a pro version.

Cool. Yeah it sounds like the kind of game that will really need good online to shine. I'm certainly interested.
