With Knack 2 Being Announced, When's The Order 1886's Sequel?

Knack has more of an open market to compete. Granted Crash Bandicoot and Yooka Laylee don't come out at similar times.

I 'watched' The Order on youtube rather than playing it and seems like a game that has a alot of lore behind it and can offer other games set in the same universe.

By far my favorite thread of 2016

Because the truth is the only thing(s) preventing the Order from being Gears is money and time.

Thanks!

And you're not wrong. Sadly I don't think Sony will be willing to make another one unless they see massive outcry for it. Such as the "meme campaign" for Knack.

I'll start.

I know this is from AngryJoeShow, but it's the best thing the internet has right now.

to go from the Order to this...

my gawd....

I mean, that looks like a fun game? So I don't see what's wrong with branching out to new experiences. Variety is always good.

Also they're doing a pretty interesting VR game for occulus.

And they're also developing a new AAA IP, so there's that too.

Jet Set Radio Future was bundled with an Xbox that moved over a million units, and noone considers it a million seller much less than it outsold Super Mario Sunshine. :p

If anything, The Order has as better chance of getting a sequel now.

Didn't Knack outsell The Order by, like, a lot?
Most of those came with the PS4 and there were like 6 games when it came out

Would love a sequel to the Order. The franchise shows a ton of potential, but they need to fix several of its issues (the black bars were fine). Would love it if they had some MP as well. Search & Destroy, and something like TLOU along with its own level where the monsters are part of the game.

Hm, so Knack is really good? Brb, buying the game now. Gaf, don't dissapoint me.

The game became a meme. I played it around launch, it is THOROUGHLY mediocre. Don't skip something you really want to play in order to buy Knack. You would probably regret that.

So it seems I must be stupid because I legit liked the order.

I don't think 98% of people who hate The Order actually played it, they just want a high profile game to bag on.

That they would do so while defending Knack and its simplistic early PS1 era 3D platformer gameplay is baffling though. If we're going to be about those I'd rather see Jumping Flash make a return.

As someone who hasn't played either, Knack seems like a game that could be fun but wasn't implemented right. The Order seems like a game that did exactly what Ready At Dawn set out to do, but few people liked what it did. The difference is that to be fun Knack only has to clean up its implementation while The Order has to turn into an entirely different game.

I couldn't bring myself to sell it when I was done with it, which is what I usually do with games that I'm 100% done with. I just think the game and its world has so much potential. Everything in it worked and was quite the romp.

I think it's this and the fact that they watched it online and were like thoroughly uninterested in it after finishing the story. I mean I can relate in that I watched a full playthrough of The Last of Us and had no intention of ever buying the game until my cousins bought it for me for Christmas. I can appreciate the care and effort put into it, but I am not so interested in playing it anymore because I already know what's going to happen. Obviously those two games don't compare all too much to each other, but I hope you can see where I'm coming from.

Thanks!

I didn't hate The Order. This gif is more enjoyable and a better overall product than The Order.

It's dead.

Not only was The Order terrible but also expensive to produce. I can see why Sony saw a Knack sequel to be a more feasible option. plus wasn't it it like Mark Cerny's passion project? That must've helped.

I wasted $10 on that trash. It's a very bad game and a sequel would only work if they handed it to a different developer and took it in a completely different direction.

I would have much rather taken The Order sequel, since I don't care about platformers, but I can understand why Knack got a sequel instead.

I picked up The Order pretty cheap and finished after beating UC4 and I really enjoyed it. I would play an improved sequel for sure.

Knack sold a lot due to launch bundles so they probably feel it's worth another shot. On top of being terribly, The Order also didn't do well at launch. Thankfully, it's probably dead.

If the Order were Mark Cerny's pet project, it might have got a sequel too, they are both terrible games but one of them is the brainchild of an important person in the PlayStation organisation. It's also vastly cheaper.

Still, it's hardly the first time a terrible launch game got a sequel. If Fusion Frenzy 2 can exist, so can Knack 2.

Didn't Knack outsell The Order by, like, a lot?

It had the great fortune of being one of the two major launch window exclusives (the other being Killzone: Shadow Fall). I think if its launch date had been swapped with eg Ratchet & Clank, few would have given it a second look.

The Order sequel is not happening imo. Sony would have to put a shitload of money for the game to look even better and for it to contain actual content as opposed to being a 4-5 hour benchmark again.

It's better for Sony to try something new instead like they're doing with Horizon or Days Gone.
