What is it?
A VR Zombie shooter for Vive and Rift with touch.
Why should I care?
- It has a full campaign of 4+ hours, as well as a replayable horde mode.
- Both modes can be played either in single-player or in online coop (2 players for the campaign, 4 for the horde mode).
The campaign coop is a major reason I am excited about the game. - It seems to have pretty good production values, and it's neither a shooting gallery, nor a minigame, nor in early access.
- Impressions seem good so far, see below.

My memories of playing the game feel more like I visited this place and vividly recall getting lost in the mines, scared for my life. In this way, it’s much more than just a simple video game. By crafting a full campaign mode that lasts several hours, Arizona Sunshine effectively transports you to this other world in such a convincing way that you feel what your character feels much more so than you would in any other traditional game.
Playing the campaign in multiplayer offers the exact same experience, but increases the difficulty in just as many ways as it decreases it. While you have a second pair of guns and pair of eyes in the world, you don’t have twice as much ammo to go around, forcing you to share and ration out each stash. The dark levels also require immense teamwork as only person is afforded the use of the flashlight. You better trust whoever you’ve asked to watch your back.

Media?

- They released a "VR trailer", which is basically a non-interactive executable with two premade sequences. Somewhat novel, and not a bad idea given the differences between seeing something on screen and in VR. There are 360° videos of both sequences, which obviously lose the positional tracking, scale, and some fidelity.
- First person gameplay trailer. Standard "you can't really show a VR game in a first person trailer" rules apply.
And some minor tech talk to make this is a Durante thread
- I didn't find it specified anywhere obvious, but this is clearly a Unity 5 game based on the files included in the "VR trailer". That means that getting good IQ at 90 FPS is unlikely to be a significant issue, compared to some other larger games based on previous versions of the Unreal engine.
- Funnily enough this game appears to be sponsored by Intel! While I doubt the effects shown in this trailer are impossible on an i5, anything that gets Intel to throw money at VR devs is a good thing in my book.
