I'm not buying into the Versus gig as confirmed, for what it's worth. I believed the original XV leak, though, because we had reason to strongly suspect that this one as well as one of a couple of others were both getting a tremendous amount right, as soon as marketing released its very next piece.

In this case, and certainly in the case of a prospective Versus XV, I am doubtful.

The "Versus XV" rumor just seems waaaaaay too out there. The financial situation and just needing to get a big game out ASAP being the catalyst for directorial/scope changes is pretty believable, but I don't buy for a second that SE would say "well, okay, now that we're making money, you can go retell XV and do whatever you want."

There being a Versus XV at all is BS enough, but the whole bit about it covering the original VsXIII story premise is the BS cherry on top.

The whole ghost revelation thing, along with Stella being dead, could have made for some seriously poignant/tear-jerking scenes if the script had stayed the same.

This is actually upsetting, knowing how amazing and grim the story originally was.

I would have been better off not knowing these FFv13 leaks, lol

Now I'll constantly be judging and comparing FF15's plot/characters to FFv13s.

Fuck.

I'd just move on. At the end of the day, XV is out and there's no going back.

I know Versus seemed like 'edgy' at its most possessed form but I really wanted to see what Nomura and the team would've tried with it. As a contrast to XIII it had potential to go into some convoluted, abstract stuff that we'll never get to completely see now. Even if it were to suck, if it was brought to life with its vision intact and uncompromised it would have at least felt complete despite being sucky, instead of being sucky because it was incomplete.

Regarding Stella and the ambiguity of her being alive, considering the connection beteeen death, dreams, and fantasy the game's early trailers/details implied, I mean, it's possible; some of the earlier trailers hint at such a fate.

Having the ability to see 'the light of expiring souls'.

Both of them having a near-death experience.

But, well, it's just all so deliberately vague and cryptic, lol. Nevertheless, it is interesting to consider.

Well, according to most people here, the first thread having a lot of truth to it automatically means the other 2 are real also, and that we must be angry for this officially confirmed Nomura Vision about Sixth Sense Stella.

That rumour could very well be fanfiction but it sounds so out there that I can totally believe that was the original vision for the game.

And I am not really mad that Nomura could not realize his vision but mad at S-E that rushed Tabata to push FFXV out of the door to the point that the 2nd half is so half-baked that they are announcing patches to make more sense of the story and fix a level that has not right to be as bad as it is.

EDIT: Right now I am at the "wait and see" stage to see if those patches to "fix" the story align with these leaks/fanfiction/novella/etc...

Crazy how a lot of that leak ended up being true apparently. I'm just so overjoyed that the game has finally been released. Aside from some updates and dlc Square can finally move to new things and they don't have to keep so hush hush about FF7R.

Even talk about Versus plot or at least what he learned:

The game centered about death, ghosts and hallucination/dreams. Noctis killed the female protagonist before the game started but he didn't remember. Ardyn was Noctis ancestor and he was responsible of the crystals disappearing over time (the only one left was Lucis crystal). Regis died in front of Noctis because his bodyguards betrayed him. The protagonists had to leave the capital because their nation lost the war.

The game didn't focus on summons that much (they still existed) and instead there were actual gods which didn't appear physically. One of the gods was the main antagonist of the first FF game. Each nation was inspired by a different capital of the world. The empire was using ghosts as weapons. Ravus wanted to kill Noctis for having killed her sister. The game ended in another dimension which was supposed to be their version of the after-life.

Totally forgot about that leaked story thread. Finally going through it and seeing how everything was pretty much right is disheartening. The stuff the guy said about the Versus plot sounds better than what we got . It's crazy how much stuff got cut from the game according to those posts. Tabata and the team pulled off a miracle. The game probably would have got destroyed by critics if it had released September 30th.
