That could be Pharah's dad for all we know, but the rest certainly is breaking the web lol

They're gonna do a follow-up to Dragons where Mercy takes an arrow for Genji and it gets all sappy

and
you
are
gonna
deal
with
it

When they teased they'd be revealing an LGBT character soon, there was no doubt in my mind that it was going to be a female character. Kind of surprised (and disappointed) to see the backlash on the official forums, seeing as Overwatch fandom is so drenched in LGBT shipping. You'd have thought people would be used to it by now.

I do wonder though if this comic has something to do with the recently cancelled one that was canned due to changes in the story.

Lucio isn't allowed to celebrate Christmas

because he's the only one on the payload
.

Phamercy ain't happening, but at the same time Genji and Mercy isn't a done deal. Could just be a grateful letter for saving his life.

The canned comic was going to going into the Omnic crisis and origins of Overwatch. My bet is after the popular reception to Junkenstein's revenge they're converting that story into a gameplay mode.

I don't think anyone, at least here on GAF, has a problem with Tracer being gay. The main complaint is about the Pharmercy ship going down in flames.

Not sure why its surprising. Overwatch has a massive player base. There are going to be homophobes among that number.

I still think those kids are Brigitte's that Rein is telling stories to. They seem too young to be Rein's though they do have his hair. But some of them are redheaded.

Though it could also lead to Pharah being Rein's kid and her not wanting to tell Rein because he's clearly got his own shit

I didn't say anything about GAF, which is a lot better about this stuff than other gaming forums

I was talking about the meltdowns on the official Blizzard forums that people are posting here

mhmh no?
Im pretty sure thats Mercy on civilian clothes.

Title change bringing the real megatons.

You.

You are a reasonable one.

We indeed need something as strong as the Widowtracer deathbomb before preaching Emergency.

I was not expecting them to confirm Tracer's sexuality at all, especially seeing as she's essentially the mascot of the game, but man what a nice surprise! :) It would be pretty cool for them to confirm Zarya's. Goodness knows there is not enough representation for butch lesbians. They exist too. <3

I almost feel like they'd shy away from that because it would be a little too stereotypical for the super-butch woman to be a lesbian. Then again I guess the short-haired tomboy being gay is also pretty stereotypical.

You all are foolin yourselves if you think shippers will let such a trivial thing as 'canon' get in the way of their ship.

Cute comic.

Mostly true, but in certain spaces (*coughcough*TUMBLR*coughcough*) there's actually been a disturbing trend of harassment towards people who have "problematic" ships/headcanons, ie het pairings of characters for whom the more popular and/or canon-supported pairings are gay ones. Thankfully I don't think that there are any particularly popular het Tracer ships, but God help anyone who drew "Mercy as mom/Soldier as dad/D.Va as baby" fanart if they reveal Mercy to be a lesbian.

(That said, I get the feeling they'll try to avoid revealing the sexuality/relationship status of anyone who has a particularly popular ship/headcanon with in the fandom)

I think you're right, even if I don't understand why Symmetra has real fingers/arm in her vishkar skin

I assumed that skin was an earlier version of herself, kind of like Ana's Captain Amari skin or 76's Origins skin. I assumed this even without realizing she wasn't amputated in that skin.

Two ideas on that:

1) the people in the LGBT fandom and the people complaining now are entirely separate;
2) it's easier for the people complaining to pass it off as "shit I don't care about" so long as it isn't official

My not-so-secret third guess is that the people complaining are totally fine with LGBT stuff if they think it's sexy, but not if it's an actual relationship between two people who don't perform for an imagined audience of heterosexual men.
