US PSN Holiday Sale Week 3 (12/20/2016 - 12/26/2016)

Just watched the DF video on the Hitman Pro patch so pulled the trigger on that, need something to take the sour taste out my mouth of The Division not so 'Pro' upgrade.

In the end I picked up:

Hitman
Rainbow 6
Bloodborne

My 20% off code made it around $46.

Not a bad scoop I don't think :)

I don't want broken controllers and I don't want to be stressed when playing a game for fun. Therefore, I will not buy it.

Same here. I'm an older gamer with a family and work 45hrs a week so I don't have much time for games. When I do play it doesn't sound fun to play a game meant to punish me. Although I'm sure I could beat bloodborne I just don't have the time to invest in it. I've gotten close to buying it a few times just to see what the hype is about...

My friend and I are in a similar situation. I purchased the game for his birthday. After a few rounds, we both agreed we did not have time for a game like that.

That being said, it's a good game....I'm sure I would have loved it 20 years ago.

Stressed and broken controllers?

Might be time to see a therapist.

BB is not stupid difficult. It's toughest fight is the werewolf at the start and
there's a trick to make it easier if you wanna use it

Great game. Buy it. Amazing game

Sucks that BB Old Hunters standalone expansion is still $19.99

it was on sale about a month ago. bought it for $10

I used to think Souls games were for masochists, that people just enjoyed being punished for no good reason, that they could be playing something fun instead. And that I positively, definitely would have to replace a controller or two if I ever tried to play them.

Just over a year ago I decided to finally take Demon's Souls (that I purchased on a whim when it was like 80% off) out of my backlog. Yada yada yada, went through most of the series in succession and BB shoot all the way up to my #3 GOAT.

No controllers were harmed.

I get how BB can be very intimidating. I was in the exact same place being nervous as all get out. I just got to a point and said, "F it!" and dived in. Best gaming decision I've made this entire generation.

It is tough and it will get overwhelming (at least initially anyway) but it can be overcome once you "get" it. That moment happened for me after defeating the second boss (who is very soon after the first boss). Everything clicked after that and I really, really started enjoying the game.

Yep, just got to take that plunge. It can very much so end up being one of your favorite games of all time. It happened with me too.

I don't think it is, much better with other people too bad it doesn't have online co-op.
My son played Overcooked online with his friend using Share Play. Worked great.

Not sure why people seem to forget about Share Play. Of course, it's not always going to work. My connection isn't good enough on my upstairs PS4, but my downstairs one is wired and works fine enough. Might be too much lag for something like Towerfall, but you don't need to be super precise with Overcooked.

What 20%? Didnt that expire yesterday?

How is Overcooked and what is it exactly?

it's a game about making food. as you progress through the levels you'll be making increasingly more complicated meals--you'll start making simple soup, then go on to things like burgers, fried food with sides. You have orders to fill and a limited amount of time to make them. You complete stages and are awarded stars (1-3 depending on your performance) which are used to unlock more levels. The stages themselves also become a hazard--earth quakes, sliding counters, cooking on the tops of trucks, etc--as you get further in.

I'd only recommend it if you have friends to play with, though. I play it on steam all the time in 4 player local co-op and it's a blast. Alone, not so much.

They have one flash sale per month and they had a flash sale at this point last year.
Damn it, lol. I literally just got a PS4 and I didn't know about flash sales. Thanks for clearing that up. Hopefully there's still good stuff for me on the flash sale.
Just bought Hitman, excited to check it out.

Does the Rainbow Six version come with all content?
I read on this thread that the maps are free, so I guess that would be a "yes" but I don't own the game so I can't say for sure. By content you mean maps, or is there anything else?

In case this never got answered for you from the last thread,

Does FFXIV have dedicated healer classes? Are the Collector's Editions worth it?

Yes, 3 of them & the CEs are worth it if you care about vanity items, the game has a ton of them and does a decent job at letting you collect/store them without wasting tons of space at this point. But many are very missable; past holidays & events, etc.

It'd be great if Sony fixed their shit so people could buy the expansions or whatever versions they want...

Just got Minecraft Story Mode for $11,99. Pretty great deal for 8 episodes.

I'm a huge fan of Telltale and Minecraft was the only one I was missing out. I just finished Episode 1 and I loved it. It has that Borderlands comic vibe that was so great on Tales. I personally never played the original Minecraft and I don't plan too but the story Telltale created is really compeling. Can't wait to play the rest.

Go Order of The Pig!

What was great on Borderlands was the humor, Minecraft has none of it. I still enjoyed it though.

If you enjoyed the movement and world of the first, you'll enjoy this one as well. Some of the open world stuff is a little hit and miss and the story is once again pretty thin, but you can just go through the story missions which often feature large, linear set pieces just like the first game which are a ton of fun to play through.

Thank you !

Do you know if there's a patch for the pro ?

I tried with Demon's souls years ago and got frustrated playing the same section over and over again with little or no direction on where to go. I have limited gaming time, so being pissed off at dying constantly doesn't exactly sound like fun, lol.

Oops, I already pulled the trigger on the stuff in my cart. What's this about a flash sale?

Come on Sony I need Diablo III on sale!

They have a flash sale once a month. They can't have the flash sale the weekend after this weekend because while the flash sale would begin in this month it would then end in the next and a flash sale has never had that happen before. Also they would miss their chance to maximize on Christmas sales. There's a 99% chance a flash sale is coming this Friday.

Also another poster posted this deal, I PM'ed him but never got an answer back. Apparently some pinball arcade tables are on sale. My question is if I buy the pro pack of these does that unlock the table for me to play or just the extra modes for that table and do I have to buy the regular table as well? They are all on heavy discount but I'm trying to spend as less money as possible. Thank you in advance for the response

Wait, Rainbow Six Siege is multiplayer only?

I guess that's off the list.

More or less. It has some content you can play solo, but that's not the strength.

It shouldn't be off the list because it's awesome, but whatever. Unless Overwatch is off your list too you're missing out.

Already own Overwatch but I really don't play it much.

I've bought up to Ep. 2 of Hitman. Will I be missing out in anything if I get 3-6 individually instead of buying the "Upgrade Pack" that has 2-6? Besides the additional 5 dollars, of course.

All the maps are free but Operators can be unlocked through playing the game. If the Gold Edition is also on sale Id recommend that because it includes the Season 1 operators so you can use the in game currency to unlock the rest. Plus you'll have a bigger pool of Operators to select from when you start.

Believe me I had the exact same reaction to Demons Souls all those years back. I hated it. Tried Dark Souls and hated that too. Bloodborne was different, I was hooked right away.

I did go back to the Souls games after Platinuming Bloodborne this year and beat them.

How's shadow of Mordor

IMO, Amazing. It was my GotY the year it came out. Batman Arkham style combat. Open world. Cool nemesis system for bosses etc. I went in knowing little about it & it blew me away. I do know some people that played it post "GotY" and came away a little underwhelmed tho.

Have ME:Catalyst and Oxenfree in my cart. I'm really debating on Rainbow Six. I love a good squad based game. I just have been into more single player type games lately. Is it worth it at that price and is the player base split from maps? Resident evil coming out next month is making it hard for me. Is catalyst worth it?
