5 of Street Fighter V Season 2 characters are going to be newcomers

Depends on what they mean.

There is a possibility that "new to the SF Universe" means that the characters have literally never shown up in a regular street fighter game.

They could also mean that they have never shown up in a street fighter game before V.

That seems to be the big point of contention right now.

That's way to literal. They mean new characters in the vain the 4 in vanilla sfv were. Come on

I interpreted it the same way they did. But it's also wishful thinking b/c I'm not particularly impressed w/ the designs of Helen, Ed, Azam (best of the bunch, tho) :p

Guess we'll find out their intention once the second char is revealed/leaked.

I'm personally hoping for just straight up brand new characters, but if I have to pick one pre-existing character that's never been in a SF game before, I'd like Rook from CFA.
 
Helen in the game would be very weird just given her status in the SF story. There's not even hints of what type of fighter she would be but that silhouette looks a lot like her.

I'd be nice for Capcom to have someone classy like Kolin in the roster. Maybe it could be Helen but she V-triggers into Kolin *shrug*

It also helps that Akuma's design isn't from the concept art, so Sakura may have a grown-up design if she comes in Season 3.

yeah I'm hoping its mature sakura with alt school girl costume. That why I'm kind of excited for the new characters as they are not bound to their older designs. I'm still waiting on those SF 3 costumes for alex and ibuki.
 
I would love it if one of the new characters were a woman over the age of 40. To be clear, I mean a human woman who looks her age. Ageless witches, succubi, etc. don't count. Pick any archetype you like. Steely, Lin Beifong-type? All for it. Granny assassin? Sure. Just as long as she's not wearing a school uniform.
 
This has probably been done before, but I upped the brightness of the silhouettes and discovered a few interesting details.

I was pretty sure that the first character was Helen/Kolin before, but now I’m 99% certain. Both characters have furry boots and knee pads that subtly protrude.

Also, I thought the second character was wearing regular pants, but an increase in brightness shows that he’s wearing a long jacket over baggy pants tucked into tall boots. He looks like some sort of military/dictator character.

Yeah that definitely looks like helen/kolin in the new shot. If true, just means characters in the sf universe just not playable before are on the table In S2.

Yeah, unless they're counting Helen as "new" as Helen is an alias for Kolin. That way they could justify characters introduced in V as "brand new".

Regardless, I think it will include characters that are in the SF lore but were never playable (or maybe including characters you only fought like Lee, Geki, Retsu, etc.). Regardless, that has to be Helen.
 
I have a feeling that aside from Helen and maybe somebody else, the rest of the characters will be completely original (like Rashid and Necalli).

What's lazy about Helen? She'd probably get a completely new model, and all of her animations would be brand new (the hardest part of creating a character). That's like calling Akuma/Guile/Balrog/Juri/Ibuki lazy choices because they were in SFIV. It doesn't make any sense.

This literally makes zero sense. Helen/Kolin has a sprite from SF3, and a Model from SF5 and nothing else. She has no moves whatsoever and would require Capcom to craft an entire playstyle from nothing. What is actually a lazy choice was Capcom re-using Morrigan's sprite across a million games when her sprite no longer matched the look of the later 2D games with her gigantic black ouline.

Not sure how it's lazy. Helen is a character that would have a completely new moveset. It's more work than just bringing in a returning character.

Regarding the last silhouette, I think he's Garuda after checking these things:

I think the others are Helen, Satsuki and Azam (they already shown their 3D models in the story mode).

The characters in Season 2, except Akuma, are brand new to the street fighter universe.

So either they're completely new or showed up for the first time in SF5 (like Helen).

Abel is a returning character, plus he was in the SF5 Story mode so we know what he looks like.
 
Good lord Akuma is ugly. Why would they give a character a beard but give it no clipping so it's always inside the body? They have some logic for hair, is adding it to beards too much?

Nah, everytime Capcom redesigns characters in SF5, people whine about wanting the original costume back (Akuma, Ibuki, Juri, etc.). So, I wouldn't be surprised if they just release her old costume as her default now. Maybe if she were in S1, but in later seasons, I doubt it.
