US PSN Holiday Sale Week 3 (12/20/2016 - 12/26/2016)

Which episode ? I'll always down to give new podcasts a listen, and a bloodbourne segmrnt seems like a good introduction

Been meaning to give this a fair shake but am worried about the switch from playing much more faster paced shooters like Overwatch & Titanfall 2 lately, the brief time I spent with it back when I picked it up seemed much more slow paced and the game did a poor job of explaining the whole multiplayer match set up, etc. I'll seek out an OT for it and try to get my learn on...

Guess my point is just that I never see anyone on here with a negative opinion towards Rainbow Six & it makes me feel like I'm missing out lol

The issues with Siege are largely related to matchmaking errors or the ocassionally post game bug. The game is in a far better place now then it was at launch polish wise and about my only real complaint now is how Ranked handles people who quit when doling out end of round points.

When it comes to the actual game, it is by far the best shooter this gen. I've played Overwatch on PC, I played Titanfall 2, BF1, Halo 5 and so on.

R6: Siege schools them all. While the rounds themselves are paced out slow (given that it's a tactical game), the gunfights are anything but. And that's really a part of what makes Siege shine.

In most shooters, that entire aspect of smart thinking and strategy is relegated to being a secondary concern at best. If you have the shooting skills, you'll likely be at the top of the leaderboards.

Siege obviously has that to a degree, but given its emphasis on how you decide to tackle each given round, you can entirely make up for part of your lack of proficiency in shooting by choosing to pressure and push angles that put the enemy at a disadvantage.

And it's a game that you're always learning in. I have about 400 hours into the PS4 version and I'm still learning new angles to shoot from or some smart new tactic in assaulting a specific area.

Nothing for me this week. Thank goodness because I went a little nuts last week!

I'm always tempted to get those Prototype remasters, but I see that Gamestop has the physical version for $19.99 now, so I'll probably go grab one from there. I did buy Slain: Back from Hell on XB1 as it's a little cheaper on that platform ($7.49 vs. $10.04).

How are you paying? The webstore?

I find that when this happens to me I'm using the webstore. Purchasing on a console usually goes through.

Using PayPal also works.

Yeah I use the webstore for everything. I don't think I've used the console store in years. I guess I'll try that out so I don't miss the deal.

edit- Yep, using the Vita store worked right away. Thanks!

Does battlefront deluxe come with all the dlc? If so I might aswel get that right? I've got Battlefront regular but the season pass is $25 here.

Getting myself a PS4 Pro this Christmas and saw the Bloodborne price in the US. The problem is that I'm in the EU and getting PS Plus on that account.
Does anyone know if it's possible to buy Bloodborne using a US PSN non-plus account and play it online on a EU PSN Plus account on the same system?
Or will online play only work if the game is purchased from a Plus account?
I have a feeling Sony blocked this and that the game must be purchased from the primary account and that account has to have Plus to be both playable and online.

If you buy a game with one account and it is marked as a primary one, you can play it with any other account in the same system. So, yes.

I also believe that you would probably be able to play online with the non plus account, if both are primary in the same console.

Everyone get Bloodborne and it's DLC. If you're intimated by what you've heard of it's difficulty, don't be. The beginning is tough. Especially if you've never played a Souls game before. I assume some people quit early on.
But once you find gear and kill your first few enemies you move past that the rest isn't as hard. You just get used to it and you upgrade and level up and the game isn't really any more difficult than a Devil May Cry or PlatinumGames game.
Seriously, it's a great game.

Oh, you can have two accounts as primary on a single PS4?

Is NFS worth it?

A couple of hours late, but I think it is. I really enjoyed my time with it, even got the platinum. The FMV stuff is silly and ultra cheesy, but the driving is a lot of fun and the races/challenges different enough that you have a lot of styles to play through. I recommend it, but it's not one of the best racers out there. I consider it quite good, though!

Has Inside been on sale yet during this promotion? I honestly haven't been paying attention for the first two weeks.

No but it was on sale for black friday.

Is NFS worth it?

If it's the same as the Xbox One version (which I am assuming it is), then I'd say steer clear.

Horrible pun completely intentional.

Promised it was going to be something different from all of the other recent NFS, but in my experience, it was more empty promises built on nostalgia for Underground -- and it isn't worthy of licking Underground's boot heels.

nope nope nope can't do it. still too hard :'(

Not enjoying the type of game and that it's really hard?

Everyone should play it. Broaden your horizons. You may not think it's your type of game but for $8 it's worth seeing for yourself. You could be surprised.

There's a reason why the game is so lauded. It's not as hard as everyone makes it out to be. As an experience it's unparalled. If you have a PS4 you should play one of the best PS4 games.

Try it, you might love it.

It plays nothing like a Platinum game.

Even if you think it might be too hard, just give it a try. Challenge yourself.

The game is a work of art. $8.

Agreed. Bloodborne really is an awesome game. It's really no different from any other game. People attach this mystique to the series, but it's an action RPG where you just take a lot of damage if you get hit. Otherwise, it's no different from any other action RPG people have played.

It's hard because it dares to not hold your hand like every other game does. It treats the player like an adult with intelligence. People aren't used to that, it scares them.

The game is a rarity. One that actually expects you to learn how to play and think for yourself.

Pretty much, and even then there are plenty of online resources to help you out or explain it to you. Kind of like this one super popular video game forum we happen to be communicating on right now.

Enh, I feel like that's more what the player base has decided the game is. There's not really much hand holding they could have. It's not open like Dark Souls. You kind of have one path to go down for the most part and it's all pretty straight forward. There's not a lot of confusing mechanisms or things players really need to pick up. The dodge and basic attack you figure out in the first minute are enough to get you through the entire game. I guess the stats are poorly explained but even those are way more obvious than something like Demon's where everything is just a dumb symbol, in I recall correctly.

It's not that 1 ps4 can only have 1 primary accohnt, but it's 1 account can only have 1 primary ps4. So you can have any number of account and they can all have the same primary ps4 if you want, I had 3 account myself for different region and they all have the same primary ps4

I got Overcooked tonight, hoping for something fun to play with my bf, but neither of us enjoyed it much. Sucks that there's no way to try this stuff before buying, no refunds, and not even a way to just gift the game to someone who would like it.

As someone who played a shit-ton of Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare, am I crazy to buy GW2 now? Especially when owning Overwatch, BF1 and TF2?

I wish South Park was on PS4.

Does anyone have a trial code for PS Plus? I dont have american payment ways so I cant choose the trial like this. ._. And I want to buy Battlefield

I wish South Park was on PS4.

When The Fractured But Whole comes out it will include a copy of The Stick of Truth with the special edition so I imagine the game will be made available separately at some point too.

The Stick of Truth has actually been available on PS4 since digital pre-orders for The Fractured But Whole went up over the summer.

If you pre-order the *standard* digital version you can download TSoT immediately.

It will be sold seperately on PSN after launch but for now it's exclusive to pre-orders of TFBW.

You do not have to get the Gold Edition of TFBW, all versions come with TSoT.

From the standard version's PSN page:

DIGITAL PRE-ORDER DETAILS:

Pre-order and receive a bonus after checking out:
- South Park: The Stick Of Truth

- South Park: The Fractured But Whole - Butters Avatar
- South Park: The Fractured But Whole - Cartman Avatar
- South Park: The Fractured But Whole - Coon and Friends Avatar
- South Park: The Fractured But Whole - Kenny Avatar
- South Park: The Fractured But Whole - Kyle Avatar
- South Park: The Fractured But Whole - Stan Avatar

It's a great deal, that's like getting both games for $30 each and I feel like The Stick of Truth will be $29.99 when they sell it seperately. Maybe $19.99, but I doubt it. You'd still essentially be getting TFBW for $40.

So... about Sheltered. Has anyone else played it?
