Now what's the next step in your master plan?
I'll be honest I think a good majority of kids start to realize this without their parents having to tell them a thing. Pop culture alone tends to ruin the magic of Santa before anyone else has a chance.

Kids tend to be smarter than people give them credit for, they probably know or will figure it out themselves, you don't have to sit them down to tell them. Just let them have their harmless fun until they do.

I told my daughter there was no Santa on the day she was born just to get it out of the way : P

I've also conscientiously avoided ever telling her that Santa is real. It makes me real uncomfortable just lying to her like that, even if it is ultimately harmless and traditional.

haha you believed in something harmless and full of wonder

lol kids are so stupid glad these parents set the record straight

I never really cared if Santa existed or not because our old apartment and, later, our house never had a chimney. So even if he was real, he couldn't deliver presents to us. I was fine with my parents being the ones giving me presents.

"Oh no I'm lying to my kids about Santa I need to come clean" is a very manufactured problem.

Santa is magical when you're a kid, and then you naturally stop believing in it when you develop critical thinking skills. It's fun while it lasts, which isn't too long.

All these parents who think they're like, morally superior or something for never "lying" to their kids about Santa just seem more like the fun police than anything else.

We've been pretty ambiguous about Santa to our daughters, and have never gone full-bore like some people seem to (constantly talking about Santa, taking pictures with Mall Santa, etc).

I know one of them (she's 4) is really into the concept of Santa, and that's okay. The oldest is six and I think she knows, but at the same time she doesn't really care either. We still do presents from Santa because it's kind of fun.

Same here. I live in South America where nothing about Santa makes sense, and the experience people had in movies with snow, chimneys etc, was a type of fantasy from the start. I always appreciated that my parents were the ones giving me a present, and it helped to teach me the value of money as soon as I was able to understand it.

Them clicks. I never understood telling your kids he isn't real. It happens on its own, and if you tell them to early they'll end up one of those assholes later on in life that rain on everyone's parade at every corner. Kids are smart, it clicks eventually.

The Chinese kid is pretty hilarious. Holding on to that belief strong. Lol at the dad trying to explain it with the "Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" song.

Also that one kid must be huge for his age. At first I was like "Does this 13 year old really still believe in Santa?!" but when he started talking, you could tell he was younger than he looks.

You know you can make up the rules right? Many families don't have a chimney

Why would you record that?

Gotta prepare for Jimmy Kimmel's next series of "record your kids while you do something kind of fucked up"

"hey, you know how much prep and effort went into trick or treating? I ate all your candy!"
"hey, you know Santa Claus? He's not real!"
"Good morning! I found all the Easter eggs, and I ate them all! Also, the Easter Bunny's not real!"

top tier humor!

"How'd you know that was a fake Santa?" - Dad
"...oh snap, that's a good question." - Child

Now why'd they gotta go and ruin the magic of Christmas like that? Not like the kids would've taken much longer to figure the truth out. Hell, half of them already knew.

The things people do for internet fame.

Why does this need to be a video? Like, every kids eventually finds out one way or another and more often than not kids are able to wrap their heads around it/get over it. So what are we supposed to be taking away from this?

Some parents like to try and profit on their kids misfortune.

Not every house has a chimney. I actually think it somehow unique these days for houses to have one (at least in Australia where I am). I just figure Santa uses magic to get where he needs to go.

He can get around the world fast and be able to carry gifts for so many. Someone not having a chimney isn't going to prevent him getting in.

Honestly, I'm against telling kids any fictional characters exist, unless they want to/come up with them. For my kids I'm instilling the idea of a "bogey man" or "fairy tooth" in their mind.

I was always terrified of the Fairy Tooth as a kid.

You guys are not true Santa fans. Stop proposing your own headcanon as true.

Santa is a magical being who can put his finger on the side of his nose and levitate.

No chimney. No problem.

Kids know certain things aren't real, but they love the fantasy. I'd call the Santa call-line knowing full well I wouldn't get nothing from him and that it was fake.
