Actors/Actresses who ruined their careers with a single move.

It's entirely possible that Terrance Howard gets paid more for a season of Empire (as the lead of the show) than Don Cheadle gets paid for any single Marvel movie he does. So yes, it's totally possible to consider Howard having come out on top.

That being said, Cheadle had his own TV show on Showtime for a few years in addition to all the Marvel stuff (House of Lies w/ Kristen Bell), so it's not like that's all he has going for him.
House of lies was cancelled

"ruined their career"

what is happening in this gif, why is it so funny? some look like they've got guns to their backs, while the rest followed suit...because

Has Brandon Routh done anything noteworthy since Superman Returns before Legends of Tomorrow?

Maybe Chris O'Donnell after Batman and Robin.

Brandon Routh was one of the evil exes on Scott Pilgrim.

And hasn't Chris O'Donnell been on a CSI series for like 10 years now?

People actually saying something called Empire (I had never heard about it personally and I doubt a lot of people outside of the USA have) is bigger than Iron Man and Marvel lmao I've read it all now. Don Cheadle won here, stop with the embarrassing spinning.

Fixed.
As I said, empire is one of the biggest shows on TV right now and Howard is the star( I guess co since Taraji). He's likely getting paid way more than Cheadle is for being a cameo side kick. Nobodies saying it's bigger than iron man but it's a better role than Rhodie

Yeah. Chris Odonnell and LLCoolJ really bounced back nicely with NCIS LA. The show may be garbage but they have steady work and are getting that syndication money

Could have been huge if he had stayed on with IM2,3, and others.

I don't think this one counts.

Marvel is notorious for not paying anyone but Downey much money at all, and War Machine isn't even the headliner in those films, he's the sidekick/straight man. And a War Machine film is VERY unlikely.

Cheadle is having fun out there but he's not making any crazy paydays or doing much for his profile. Howard is probably better off where he is with Empire.

Lou Gossett Jr. went directly from an oscar-winning role into Jaws 3d and permanently doomed himself to a career of movies destined to collect dust on rental store shelves and late-night UHF channels

This thread begins and ends with Michael Richards.

I only knew him for Kramer but i rememebr a Joke about him from i think the Carmichael show. Was that due to his "n-word" comments because i don't i remember him from anything but Seinfeld and i don't want to ruin my family's love of Seinfeld and Kramer especially since they are the wrong let say complexion to appreciate such comments.

Marvel pays much better now since they blew up, and a lot more for regulars like Johansson and Evans. But yeah, of course leads make more than supporting cast. Downey is no longer the only actor making millions off of Marvel.

She was good in Stranger Things, but that was after a 20 year span of practically nothing.

Funny how her big comeback was around the same time as Christian Slater, in Mr. Robot.

I'm not a huge cinema fan so I actually didn't know she disappeared for 20 years. I only saw two movies this year, lol. (Third one will be Rogue One when I have the time.)

From what I remember, Chris O'Donnell was another one who stepped away from the limelight. I think this either had to do with his family or his religion (or both?). Anyway, he is now on NCIS and probably making hella big bucks as it's one of the highest rated shows on TV, though for the life of me I don't know why.

Shia Labeouf?
He ditched blockbuster Hollywood and instead is working with some of the top art house filmmakers. He was great in Nymphomaniac a few years back and incredibly impressive in this year's American Honey.

If this is post-pedo stuff, WHY are they applauding?
Because all those people are his friends and co-workers. He also won an award for making the best Holocaust film which was criminally denied best picture.

The guy who played Napolean Dynamite by refusing to play the character again.

Didn't he voice him on the short lived animated series? That film always came off as a right place, right time kind of thing, since no one important to that film has gone on to do anything particularly remarkable. Hell, Jon Heder wasn't even cool enough to stick around with the Happy Madison crew, and they managed to give Rob Schneider a second chance.

The leads are making money now but nowhere close to Downey. Evans and Johanssen are also not only 6 films into their contracts or so, but box office draws.

Evans especially. Cap took that guy from C list to A list and he's as synonymous with Cap as Downey is to Iron Man.

Cheadle is likely being paid less than Jeremy Renner...who made 6 million for Ultron while Johannsen made 20 and Downey made 200.

Amanda Bynes quitting Hollywood in order to get into the fashion industry. I don't think that was too successful for her since most of the news that I remember about her was when she kept doing crazy stuff. It appeared that she abused marijuana and other drugs which resulted her in getting a couple of DUIs and other criminal charges. At one point of time, IIRC she was even institutionalized. And who can forget about her insane tweets on Twitter.

Bynes' future seemed so bright when she was still a kid on Nickelodeon, but now her life is such a wreck that it's hard to picture if she will ever come back to film.

Katherine Heigl. She is a case study in how to fuck over your own career. She left Grey's Anatomy, which made her a household name, shit talking it on her way out. Then she just signed up for a string of bland forgetable rom-coms. Nothing wrong with that, but you gotta diversify your resume if you're going to survive. Being the "It Girl/Guy" in Rom Coms is a short term game. By the time she wanted to move on to something else, she had the reputation of being hard to work with. Tried to come back to TV and has flopped there, and might flop again next year. If she had just left on better terms, I think more projects would have been willing to "deal" with her post 2010.

Heigl has a reputation of being a diva. Her fuck up was being difficult to work with. Nobody wants to work with her when her (and her mother, rumored) try to get "the best deals. HUGE deals! Absolutely high energy deals!" while alienating the staff.

Let's not pretend the amount of money RDJ makes playing Stark isn't an anomaly in Hollywood. The dude wins the lottery every movie he's in.

She wanted Drake to murder her vagina.
