Steam Winter Sale 2016 thread of hoping for better deals elsewhere

I wasn't a fan of them giving the game for free/cheap to playstation users, and then selling it for €25 on PC.

Sure, it hurt the sales on PC. For instance, I did not buy it until the game reached 15 € for the same reason. The free stuff for PSX owners was only for visibility purposes since it is their first game not on mobile.

However, on a purely objective basis, the game has a good art direction, good "gameplay direction", the devs are nice people and the game is really worth at least the meagre 10€. Watch this if you want to see who the devs are:

Xanadu Next has a good story? Seems like anime clichés at best? Am I wrong?

It's definitely not anime cliche story or even the art. Early to mid 2000s Falcom has very little of that. They started overdoing it during the late 2000s when they switched to PSP.

I have a limited number of websites I trust to buy things from. CDkeys is not one of them.

Honestly, I find cdkeys to be just as trustworthy as GMG. Been buying games from them for a long time, and the only one time I had a problem with one of their keys I had a new functional one sent over in less than 5 minutes.

The thing with many AAA games is that if you buy before they release the "goty or "all dlcs included" edition you basically miss some content, hence i always feel the need to delay a purchase until the goty(fallout 4 for example)
No anime clichés with xanadu, just a very linear level design but that was not a problem for me.

The third floor in Enter the Gungeon was so freaking crazy and funny lol. All sorts of weird ass enemies doing dumb hectic stuff. My entire time on that floor I was laughing until I died. Didn't get to the boss tho :(

Life is Strange for “I'm Not Crying, There's Something In My Eye” category!! Don't make a mistake GAF!

BTW. That award is hella ugly. :)

Abandon Ship (FTL+Sunless Sea) to be shown February 18-19 at the PCGamer expo thing

If the writting is as compeling as the sunless sea, I'm in.

Played the tutorial missions of Hitman. I was throwing a fire extinguisher in someone's face while he was was shouting "I can karate!". Game is legit.

I didn't vote for it. I take it I didn't make a mistake.

So confused

The devs are literally given a "this is where you disclose any 3rd party DRM that is present in your game to customers. If your game does not have any additional DRM, please leave this field blank"

And this is the result.

So confused

Whatever the DRM is, this game is a masterpiece and you should get it. Small tip: In the beginning of the game, you get an RTS mission, this is the weakest part of the game and you have a dialog option to never get these types of missions again if it's not your cup of tea.

lol. I do a lot of work sorting through data that comes from forms like those. We've had to progressively move more and more fields to pre-filled dropdowns because apparently our employees with 4-year degrees can't read :p

Let's hope they never register their daughters for Little Miss Springfield.

Yo what?! I just discovered Thumper after listening to the Giant Bomb GOTY podcast day 2. How fucking awesome does that game look?! This one goes on my wishlist

Ori is good, really.
i'd go with child of light. i bought Ori because of how much everyone said they were enjoying it but i found it incredibly annoying and boring. visually it is beautiful but i ended up refunding it.
Both are great, so if you can afford the two of them, that'd be my answer. If it's only one, I'd go with CoL; it's fantastic and my 2014 GOTY.
Child of light is good. Ori is one of the best Metroidvanias I've ever played.
Ori is fucking amazing.

no no no

you guys missed the idea of my post

I was asking if Ori is good, as in truly good. I brought up Child of Light because people said it was good, but then I bought it in PSN and all I got was a crappy, mindless, really slow RPG and it seemed people only were wowed by the artstyle and never really played good RPGs.

This is the second time GAF failed me with a recommendation, ironically the first being another Ubisoft shit - Rayman Origins.

That's why I'm asking if Ori is a really solid Metroidvania on par with Metroid games or Symphony of the Night.
