First round of Yakuza 0 Previews (Spoiler: They are glowing)

I chalk it up to us fans being very vocal about its quality. Glad things are picking up, we've been yelling for a decade now and our throats are sore.

Yakuza 0's also just an easier way to recommend the series to people. Up til now when people ask about the series you had to recommend Y3 or Y4 to them (since 1&2 are out of print and on older systems). Neither is an amazing place to start (still doable, I started with Y3 and I love the series now), whereas Y0 is a great start, and leads people into Kiwami in the summer, at which point they can probably jump into any other game in the series.

You might be thinking of Nier (don't worry, lots of people mix it up)

Nioh comes out two weeks after Yakuza 0, which releases the same day as Tales of Berseria, KH 2.8, and RE7.

Nioh's out on February 7th.

Fuuuu. Yakuza 0, then Nioh, then Nier, then Horizon. I've got a business to run and I've still got to eat. Sacrifices will have to be made. My wife will hate me.

Now i'm torn.

I bought the entire series this past year with an intent to catch up. Now that Yakuza Kiwami is coming stateside, that puts my playtrhough for the original to the side.

And with KH 2.8 and Tales of Berseria coming out the same day [my first and second gaming franchises], i'm not sure where to begin. Do i go from here > Kiwami > 2 > 3 onwards?

Man, it really sucks having tons of free time, and all these games I'm really interested coming out, yet not being able to play for long (and a lot of the time, not being able to play at all) due to health issues.

Holy hell, you're right -- I didn't even realize that it's been more than 10 years since Yakuza hit the US.

I can't believe they are releasing this on the same day as multiple popular games.. Resident Evil 7 being one of them.

Why Sega choose times like this to release their games i dont know.

It has no chance.

It's a fucking awesome series so i've already preordered though.

My top three franchises are Yakuza, Resident Evil, and Megami Tensei, so I can understand the conflict. I'm actually glad Persona 5 got pushed back a bit (no I'm not).

That order should work fine. You'll get a big jump back in polish and gameplay systems going from Kiwami to Y2, but if you're used to playing older games it should be fine.

Here's another preview from Cubed3:

The Yakuza series has been one of SEGA's most consistent in terms of quality. With Yakuza 0, there's every reason to believe that this title will exceed expectations. The changes to the fighting system make bouts more dynamic and interesting than before, and the new mini-games are more involved and creative. Furthermore, and without spoiling anything, the storyline is as enthralling as ever. Seeing a younger Kazuma Kiryu is a treat, although Goro Majima is liable to blow everyone away with his awesomeness. All in all, this entry in the saga is going to be a treat for fans and newcomers alike.

Can't wait for it.

Well, it says in the article that its from an imported copy

''Análisis de Importación''

Yeah, it does say that. Yet up the top it says it's in English, which the Japanese release did not have. It also references the Business Edition, which is the North America exclusive addition. Then in the end, they mention that this game is ok, as long as English isn't an issue for you.

And that's not an North American site, so that technically is an imported version of the game ;)

Pretty odd to add that, don't you think? Plus this is a 1+ old game release in Japan.

You might be a little lost, so I'd recommend at least watching the recap from Yakuza 3 to get a first for the story.

Or just watch any Takeshi Kitano yakuza film you can find.

This is the worst advice I've ever seen.

Start with Yakuza Zero 100%.

Well...It's still worth watching Kitano's Yakuza movies. They're really good.

Sure, everyone loves Beat, but it has zero relevance to one's enjoyment of the Yakuza game series. Hell, even his guest role in Yakuza 6 has no impact on any of previous six titles.

Yeah that is indeed weird. Anyway, if they really broke embargo then, bad on them

Stoked. I've had it pre-ordered since it went live and I have made sure I'm not in the middle of another big game once this hits my mailbox. My most anticipated game of 2017 arrives at the very beginning of the year.

The OT title has gotta be "Yes, you can start with this one" or something similar to get people looking at it

But a title focusing on how the game takes place in the 80's would be more fun
