Horizon Zero Dawn | Cinematic Trailer

wow, lots of new things which weren't in previous trailers.
And surprised to see the actor who was in Fringe in this game.
I think he was in Quantum Break too, if I remember correctly.

Animations are very reminiscent of the last Killzone. I'd be willing to bet they've utilized some of the same rigs and likely with the same animators as before. They've always had a 'gamey' feel to them, which works for me.

I can't wait to use that damn bow.

How are missing The Wire? What are you doing Macrotus?

I won't lie, its the first time I've heard of it, because I've never seen it being broadcasted over here. I looked up IMDB and I was pretty surprised at its rating. I definitely need to go watch it...

It is considered the greatest Television show ever made. And I am not exaggerating.

How are you missing Zavala from Destiny?
The worst use of Cedric Daniels ever. Although Destiny is alright.

Now that looked awesome.

The story seems to be fairly interesting actually. I really hope we can explore that massive city that was shown.

I seriously cannot wait to play this haha.

I mean the fully animated cutscenes already look much farther ahead than the procedurally based stuff so the game's already gonna be dealing with that. With models this high poly you wanna be more than consistently good to avoid the uncanny valley.

I understand if you prefer the cutscenes to be more directed and cinematic, but I want them to be as close to gameplay as possible. There will always be difference between a cinematic cutscene and in-game dialogue, but keeping the difference to minimum is important for immersion's sake. Full motion capture + hand animated corrections for all 5 cutscenes (I assume lol) would break immersion when 95% of the story is told through RPG-style dialogue.

Both the dialogue facial animations and cutscenes are still the best in the WRPG genre anyway.

Looked cool, but man that writing... the cadence is all wrong for an american VA.

For instance there is a scene in the trailer where Aloy says "I will go" something that might sound OK with a brittish VA. But with the American VA it should be "I'll go"

Might play this in an alternate language. To see if it has less issues. Which is a shame because the actual intent of the writing seems really good

Yea way more than 5 cutscenes, it looks like a good chunk of cutscenes are gonna be fully animated compared to something like Deus ex.

Either they changed Aloy's design a bit or I never really got a good look at her but I like it now. Before for me it looked very boring.

I thought it was CGI or pre-rendered because I didn't understand why it looks like the facial animations are so off and why the characters are so death.

If it's not CGI or pre-rendered why does the character look so off?

I am really scracthing my head with this sentence , Forget about HZD for a min , why are you generalising that CGI and pre-rendered makes character looks lifeless, becasue its Sharp, i mean first i thought you just jumbled up your post, but its really confusing now.

If you have said "man this looks stiff and plastic, might be ingame" Than i could have agreed with you on that, "But lifeless because CGI" , i mean did you recently check the FOR HONOR beta launch trailer , Thats CGI and a damn good Trailer. and you can't say to me that look lifeless. Sorry. may be i am bit misunderstanding you there .

It might just me who is crazy. I think Horizons characters look off. I dislike the art direction.

I thought it was a celtic tribal type aesthetic, but it looks like they are fusing it with robotic aztec/inka styled ornaments. I find all these inputs distracting like the vision of what they are doing is not coming together compared to the earlier reveals where they showed robotic dinosaurs. Just looks like they are reaching by throwing anything that can stick.

"I dislike the art direction" And thats the main reason isn't , Art is subjective its not good nor bad, what don't works for you works for me and maybe not for others too. Completely agrees on that. But if you have cheked the story trailer which came out before E3 , all the current designs was there, so "change of vision" "they are reaching"is not exactly i can see here.

Regarding The mishmash design , again go check the PSX panel discussion, They explained why there homes and armor are mixed with robot parts. These are not clans or Something Like FOR HONOR where each group have there distinctive look. But you are not convinced by the Art Direction as you said , so i an see where are you coming for.

That was weird seeing that much pop in during an official trailer. At least we know its all in game footage.

Coming soon: Next level bullshotting. Animators will deliberately put artifacts like pop-in and clipping in prerendered footage to give it the appearance of real time rendering.

Ubisoft, I can accept payment by cash or cheque.

I feel like Guerilla should generally be excused for dialogue. I mean they are dutch so they arent going to know the nuances of American vernacular. Since we know this is supposed to take place in America(judging by some previous landmarks and landmasses we've seen), i guess time and stuff has just changed how people talk

You should, it's pretty much one of the best TV series ever and it is still incredibly relevant.

He's been acting in a shit load of video games recent. He's a great actor.

The question is, which version to watch? The original 4:3 that shows the entire picture, or the cropped 16:9 that "looks better" (kind of) on a modern set?

The Aloy's appearance debate a few pages back is interesting because you can see the effort that GG put into making her appealing but not necessarily attractive.

If she was too hot, there'd be the backlash that she's being oversexualised and objectified.

If she was too plain, she wouldn't appeal as a heroic figure that both men and women would want to play as.

So she treads that line. She's athletic but not lean, she appears to be average height, she's young but freckled, doesn't show skin but has a unique style, and has quite pretty eyes (I didn't know they had mascara in the apocalypse) and high cheekbones, but a wider, more masculine jawline.

The dialogue has never really bothered me, I just assumed story wise they talk like that because that's how usage of language changed for them over the years.
The story looks fine as well, and interesting.

I don't think so, such talks usually aren't about a character's "natural" beauty. If they made Aloy more conventionally beautiful, while keeping the rest (clothing, ...) unchanged, I reckon barely anybody would have had anything to object.

game looks insane. can't wait

considered by many the greatest show ever.

Has anyone watched the 'Friends and Foes' trailer that went up on Guerrilla's YouTube account a couple of hours ago? Is it the same as this Cinematic Trailer, and if not will I spoil myself if I watch it?
