Headaches when Dieting?

This happened to me when I went very low carb diet. It's proven that your brain needs a certain amount of carbs (not that much). When I upped my carbs just a little bit, the headaches disappeared.

But in this case caffeine is probably the reason. You could start drinking coffee. No calories and it boosts metabolism.

I would guess Caffeine withdrawal is it. That's the biggest headache inducer for diet changes. If you used to drink it daily in high amounts, dropping it low will give you a couple weeks of headaches. I refuse to stop drinking caffeine for that reason largely, which my doctor says is actually a symptom of caffeine addiction but he said it has no serious issues. Just drink diet soda daily OP. Nothing wrong with that, but you should not have more than a couple of soda or coffee's worth of caffeine a day so stay off the energy drinks

Dude
I'm sooooooooooo hungry in the night. I stopped eating after 5 pm

The headaches ... uuughghghghgh

What time do you normally eat breakfast? Maybe space out your meals so you have dinner by like 7 pm. Also having a light snack like fruit or vegetables after dinner might be a good idea.

That's the worst advice

It's called intermittent fasting. Different levels to it, but essentially you portion and assign the 24 hours of your day to "eating window" and "no eating window".

Some people do like windows from 12 pm to 8 pm, and then dont eat outside of those hours. Others are crazy and do like 20 hours no eating, and 4 hours eating anything they feel like.

What time do you go to bed? The "don't eat after this time" is not a catch all. It's usually based on assuming you go to bed at 9 or 10 pm which many people don't, so you need to adjust it

Either caffeine withdrawal or lack of protein. If you're not keeping track of protein intake there's a really good chance it's due to a lack of protein.

Eat a chicken breast and see if it goes away. Next day drink a coffee and see if it goes away. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Did you give up coffee/tea too? If you did, good for you, but you don't really have to if you're dieting for the purpose of weight loss, and caffeine can certainly help with headaches.

is feeling weak and mentally "faint" a symptom? I find I need to eat ~50-100g of carbs or else my head shutsdown.

Instead of doing whatever this syn nonsense is, I'd suggest counting and reducing caloric intake. No need for additional exercise or anything else if you don't want to. You'll lose weight.

If you eat tons of whatever these syn-free foods are you'll still gain weight.

I drink a ton of caffeine, and get headaches when I don't so I'd assume that's probably where they are coming from as well.

This is exactly what is happening to me right now. I've been a soda addict for most of my life (Coca-Cola) and Ive decided to cut it out completely. Ever since I started I've been getting horrendous headaches every single day (I have one right now). I was just told to drink a tiny 8oz can so the headache will subside but will this destroy all that I've worked for?

I'd advise you to at least try something with lower caffeine in it or a different source without a ton of sugar in it first if that's part of the reason you quit. Coffee, black tea, green tea, matcha, or even caffeine pills might take the edge off and they all have predictable levels of caffeine that can be reduced and weaned off of as desired. You could also just have a Diet Coke or Coke Zero depending on your tolerance for artificial sweeteners. I hate them myself, but I have to admit that out of all the Diet sodas I've tried, Diet Coke has been the most tolerable.

To get started, you can kill two birds with one stone and pop an Excederin-like pill if you're not NSAID or aspirin intolerant. They usually contain acetaminophen/paracetamol, aspirin, and caffeine in measured doses. They're the only thing that help me when I'm having a really rough sinus headache.
