Well two things:
First, I think there's a difference between the risk involved with merely licensing and streaming a show versus all the other business that goes along with producing and distributing physical media. I think the risk to the companies involved is greatly lessoned by streaming tons of crap versus pressing tons of crap to disc and getting it to every store in the country. And while there's lots of streaming sites out, sure, there's some overlap between Amazon, Hulu, Netflix and Cruncyroll/Funimation, the Anime Network and Daisuke that makes it not so bad really.
Second, I'm almost certain Prime is a loss leader for Amazon. Free shipping, tons of free video, a free ebook each month, really, I'm not sure much of what Amazon does actually makes them money.
The only real problem I have with Prime then becomes, I dunno, the all encompassing aspect of it. If Amazon wants to launch its own video channels on top of prime, that's fine, but then, honestly, I'd rather have a way to ditch the shipping aspect of Prime since I no longer order from them as often as I did. If they were to break up the primary Prime membership into smaller bundles, say let me pick just the video portion of it and whatever channels I want on top of it I'd be fine, bu it feels like the payments to Amazon are getting to big for lots of stuff one never uses now that they're adding additional tiers.

That sux - every time they get streaming rights as exclusive it kills any chances of such anime coming to Crunchy and Crunchy at least tries to get as many countries as possible while Amazon is tied to prime which is big political decision for amazon to extend to new country.
Amazon's going to have to offer some pretty tempting stuff to make me interested in this. Either offer the majority of what is streaming this season, or dip into the older shows pool and pull out some really good stuff that isn't available elsewhere. An exclusive deal with a single publisher isn't going to cut it.
Does this also mean all anime will be removed from regular prime streaming?
If Amazon is going this route of curated subscriptions for various types of TV, it would help to make regular prime cheaper (lol, as if they ever would).

I mean, I guess? But since Amazon grabbed them, they've aired Battery and The Great Passage, neither of which would be classified as "otaku pandering shows." So given the sample size, I'm not sure that label is fair. I'm also not really sure what that label means, to be honest.
It's an attempt to duplicate the bullshit that has been driving people away from cable tv by nickel and diming customers for all the different kinds of content they really want in their service.

These days it feels like Noitamina airs about half unusual stuff, and half otaku pandering shows. For example, the first show they made with Amazon was Kabaneri. Once Scum's wish is done airing, they'll air a second season of Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend, followed by Dive.
It's harder these days to feel like they still have a firm identity.

Keep wondering why I even sub to prime any more, switched to digital so don't use game discount, used to order a lot of stuff but don't any more so shipping isn't worth it, even the few things I do order never show up in 2 days (usps sucks ass) if at all. I watch 1 show besides Noitamina block (grand tour). No app for Apple TV so watching anything is a pain to set up as well. Also don't use there music shit.

Yeah, OK, that makes more sense to me. I skipped Saekano. Is Scum's Wish more in that vein? If so, I won't feel bad about using my free week to watch The Great Passage and getting out.
I guess I should also add that I thought Kabaneri was fun, if derivative. Looked good, though definitely lost its way towards the end.

Scum's Wish seems like a different sort of thing from Saekano, though, of course, I haven't seen the first episode.
I also thought Kabaneri was fun for a while, but it's very different from what used to define the brand. I don't think it's strong enough to anchor what they're charging for on top of Prime's existing subscription service.

There's honestly not much exclusive stuff to convince me to sub to this. And the sub on top of my sub doesn't sound like a good deal anyway. Only thing I'm really interested in right now is The Great Passage, but I'd rather just marathon it during the free trial.

They've all been available very inexpensively, as well, except for maybe Garden, can't really recall.
Besides Death Note, they might appear on Crunchyroll someday. Funimation exlusives are, slowly, appearing in Crunchyroll library.

Thanks for the trailer, hadn't seen anything from it. Seems somewhat interesting, but definitely not worth the vig over Prime / Crunchyroll.
If this takes off, it almost assuredly will not.
Gotta take those Anime Club recommendations with a grain of salt, sir. CR is great but more for keeping up with the currently-airing anime season in Japan.
