What a shitty day. Started with the Chargers announcing their move to LA and ended with the terrible Switch presentation. I'll reconsider getting one in a year when it has some games. Mario, Zelda and Xenoblade 2 looked good, everything else...

Thankfully I'm broke right now, so I have to wait regardless!

The worst part of the conference is the translator getting increasingly nervous.

Gimmicky, motion bullshit, that no one will use has killed another system's pricing model.

The controllers, even the system itself, could have been much cheaper without all this garbage. They learned absolutely nothing from WiiU's mistakes.

Nintendo not even mentioning how or if Nintendo Network is going to be on the Switch is the most jarring thing to me. I hope Treehouse will talk about it during their stream but you would think that they would at least talk about it during their biggest presentation for the system.

I'm done. I can deal with the 300€ price, I can get over the fact that there are 0 new games for launch that I'm interested in but PAYING FOR ONLINE IS A FUCKING JOKE. I always wanted to pay extra to play online for a game that I paid full-price.

Luckily, I have my Wii U to play Zelda.

Zelda is the only thing they nailed with no qualification needed.

Mario looked great, but launches at the end of the year
Splatoon 2 looked pretty neat, but it looks more enhanced-port rather than full-blown sequel, plus it launches in the summer
Arms and 1,2,Switch look pretty nice, but really not what I'd buy a system for

Other stuff was old ports or games announced so early they couldn't even put together a teaser.

$300 price tag
Paid online

Just...way to suck the hype out of the room with this conference. I feel REALLY safe with getting Zelda for the WiiU and not bothering with the Switch for the first 1-2 years while Nintendo gets its shit together.

So, once again, it looks like Nintendo spent the last two years of its previous system doing fuck-all. Just like what happened with the WiiU. The Wii had nothing for the last 2 years and everyone thought it's because they were gonna blow the doors off for the WiiU. Then that got announced and it turned out they had nothing. But hey, it was their first HD console so that took some additional time, right? With the Switch they don't even have that excuse.

On the bright side I get to save $300 this March.

Monster Hunter is still launching like a week or two after this right? And its not on the switch. Just another nail in the coffin.

Well, the good stuff looked really good (Zelda and Mario look insane) and the 2 week jump in the release date was cool, but... Aside from that, it pretty much disappointed on all fronts.

Now do we trust that Pokémon is going to be there? Smash? Mario RPG thing? Where's the Gamecube VC? Where's any VC? Are there any other surprises in store as far as launch software?

It's apparent they're staggering big game releases and putting a large focus on Zelda as a launch title.

Any word on when we can preorder?

Fuck. I really thought they were going to nail this. 299. Paid online. Dire launch lineup other than Zelda. Terrible presentation. Didn't go in to detail on their services or how they're improving online. No talk of virtual console. Third parties non existent. No talk of indies or a sizzle reel for them. Fuck.

Fuck.

Fuck.
I feel you on this. I was not truly prepared for this I guess. Just, fuck.

This thread might go too fast to get an answer... but was there anything at all about the screen being a touch screen? That has never once been confirmed right?

Seriously, stayed up late (4am) UK to see this, and massively disappointed. Pre-order not pre-ordered.

Fuck, not only have Nintendo screwed themselves, after all this time, they're taking the GAF servers down too.

Not a happy bunny here. What a shit show.

100% with you man.

Stayed up late, with mildly optimistic expectations. Feel massively let down. Nintendo have fucked it again it seems. Especially with regards to pricing of console, accessories, lack of launch lineup and now a charge for online services...

Gah. Nintendo, why do you have to be such heart breakers.

Seeing that my thread got closed, I'll put this here:

This is what I got so far, according to Nintendo's Official site:

Launch Games:
Super Bomberman R
Disgaea 5
Zelda: BOTW
Nobunaga’s Ambition
I Am Setsuna
Dragon QUest Heroes 1-2
Switch 1-2

2017:
Mario Odyssey
Splatoon 2
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Skyrim
MineCraft
Dragon Quest 10
Dragon Quest 11

What am I missing?

Launch seems fine to me.

I mean...Mario Kart is not launch and you listed DQH twice. So I fixed for you.

"Insiders" dropped the ball hard. LKD: no Rabbids, no Beyond Good & Evil, no Splatoon bundle at launch, no $249, no March 17 release date; Liam Robertson SPECIFICALLY saying Mario Kart remaster won't be called "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe"...

Beaten by 4chan of all things.

We'll see if 4chan was off too, since we haven't seen a sight of Snipperclippers, even though most everything else was dead on.

I wonder what the deal is with BG&E now.

I wasn't going to say it, but man, the Vita launch lineup looks more appealing than this one. About triple the games available too.

Is this thing getting rushed to market?

Feels like Wii U 2 for me. In most every way.

I do think they'll be able to offer better software support but I just don't think this system is going to take off.

3DS-2 for me.

Launches with a Zelda. Overpriced. Barely any games over the coming year. I'll buy one used off Craigslist when someone regrets their purchase and sells it all for $150 or something stupid cheap. Until then I'll buy Zelda on Wii U and stick to my backlog with an extra $300+ in my pocket.

Did anyone else think that, if nothing else, the production values for the trailer where the guy showed off the joycon rumble etc. were ridiculously high?

That looked the budget of 3 E3 digital events alone.

It's Zelda and then what? When does Spatoon come out. Mario is Holiday. Those RPG's we saw? They aren't coming out this year.

And I'm not too sold on the whole 3rd party thing yet. EA is only committing to FIFA. Bethesda is committing to a 5 year old game. Lots of the games are just starting production.

Like I don't care if the PS4 launched with UC4. If it only had two gimmick games along with it. That's just not a good sell.

Zelda at launch, Mario Kart in April, Splatoon in June/July, Mario in October/November. That's honestly not a bad launch window.

I think you guys are forgetting how awful system launches usually are.

I think I'm going to preorder one tomorrow if GameStop opens it up and has them available, but I do not know if I will buy one at launch. It really looks like this thing will get a 3DS price drop because $300 just seems way too expensive in my opinion and I think going into the holiday season at that price would be a bad idea when the PS4/Xbox One Slim will probably be $200 or less with bundled games.

What time is the Treehouse tomorrow?

The only problem is that at launch, on the 3rd, they only mentioned 2 games. The others, even on the site, only say march, Why didnt they say march third for dragon quest if it was for the 3rd

The site says March 3rd for Dragon Quest and every game I put on the list, I just checked it. (The japanese one).

in fact I missed Puyopuyo Tetris S (I don't know wth this game is tho), wich also says march 3rd.

I really like Nintendo and my expectations were probably unrealistically high for this conference, but I can't help being a bit disappointed.

Zelda looks absolutely great and it's a must have title but it feels a bit like the Twilight Princess situation. Where the killer (launch) app for the console is basically a game that should have been released on the previous console a lot earlier.

I really hope Mario will be great. The trailer made it feel more Mario Sunshine than Mario 64 which is not what I had hoped. Still way too early to tell though.

The rest of the presentation had some nice titles but I guess I expected more games, release dates and no gimmicky 1 2 switch stuff.

Keeping my pre-order just for Zelda but a launch with Zelda, a Mario 64 sequel and Splatoon would have been great.
