Holy shit guys, all Virtual Console games are playable without looking at the screen:

I have a pre-order at Best Buy.

I want a new super dope portable to play on long international flights. I am thinking the lineup is going to have me cancel this and just play my 3DS.

The question seems to be, do I want to pay 400 dollars for a Zelda game I can get on my Wii U along with an upgraded Mario Kart I already own. Because that's all I care about till Summer.

I feel like if the system had a wide range of indie titles coming to the system it would help flesh out the lineup so to speak.

Nintendo talked jack shit about this though.

Really bad conference. Beginning with 20 min of motion controls (1,2, Switch looks just brutal), skimming through a bunch of interesting games like MK8 and Bomberman, not ever telling us what the launch lineup was, not explaining details about the console like hard drive space, was all boneheaded.

But Mario and Zelda both look incredible, so day one.

Oh, and the paid online thing will be incredibly interesting. If they are gonna charge for online, they are gonna have to bring up their service offering in a major way. The only way Wii U could get away with being so shitty was because it was cheap.

It's possible, not likely but possible, that they wanted to keep this presentation at an hour, so they only showed stuff they thought absolutely needed to be showed. We didn't see the MK8 trailer for example.

So it's possible they have way more in the pipeline, but they just didn't want a two hour show here. It's stupid, but it's Nintendo.
Fifa did not need to be shown. You can briefly mention it without having a guy come on stage and talk about it for seceral minutes.

I'm gonna preorder for sure, but after the great reveal video this event really left me a bit sour. Paid online, very expensive controllers and slim pickings for games available. I have a good PC and PS4 Pro, so Switch is going to be another exclusive machine for me. I just wish they would've left the gimmicks to a minimum.

Got my console, BotW and Splatoon 2 preordered.

Having said that, the conference and launch lineup are/were unbelievably awful. I can't understand how this is all they've got.

This is terrible. The only game I care about on that list is Mario... And before the presentation I thought that this was going to be first Nintendo console I get at launch.

Yeah I really care about Zelda and Mario. So I have to buy at launch for Zelda and then probably nothing of interest till Christmas for Mario? I'm hoping we learn about a lot more games coming out sooner than expected tomorrow and at E3.

No thread for it as far as I can see but I'm happy that Xenoverse 2 is gonna be on Switch. Loved the first one but never got round to the sequel, a portable version is a must have.

Haven't followed all her leaks, but is Laura Kate Dale credible leaker or is she finished?

A lot of the stuff she got right that is confirmed here are things a lot of people could've guessed at like "128GB memory cards" etc, specific game stuff hasn't been confirmed....yet

Despite how weird that was I'm still in but I'm afraid Amazon US is going to put up the preorders while I'm sleeping...

I really think Nintendo is doomed at this point. The Switch looks great, but I cant imagine that it will sell well.

Also Nintendo really thinks bloom = hd like they've just started making ps3 games. (And they basically have) They have fallen far behind in graphics thanks to the Wii and Wii U to the point that their art direction isnt really saving it, but making it look potentially worse.

That said, Switch is probably one of the most complete consoles ever. Not like the Wii U. Obviously lacking in graphics, but some of these best stuff ever in other areas.

I just finished watching the presentation again just to make sure I didn't miss anything and just to make sure I didn't make a knee-jerk reaction...

Jesus Christ this is worse than I expected. Leading up to this, I thought it was going to be bad if they had a $249 bundle with a $50 separate pro controller but $299 base with a $70 pro controller? And make no mistake, if you plan on using this thing at home for any length of time, the pro controller will be required so you're not wearing out the joy-cons too fast.

No games other than Zelda at launch worth a shit, Wii gimmicks all over again, "third party" support which essentially boiled down to Square-Enix and a 5.5 year old Skyrim port, wild battery life "window" meaning you should probably assume no more than 3 hours average, and poorly thought out paywall multiplayer.

I'll just nope my way out of here, thanks. I'll keep tabs on it. Maybe it'll be worth getting in 2018 if it has decent support (no more Nintendo droughts, mmkay?) and if the online paywall isn't a cmplete clusterfuck. But at launch? It's not worth the insane price just for Zelda, not since Zelda will be the same a year or two from now.

I can't blame Nintendo for charging for online if they do a good job with it.

But it signals to me that they don't know what they're doing with it because it is not even ready for launch wtf.

They spent so long preparing for the launch of this console and the online isn't even ready. Does this company still know how to make its products? Did everything fall apart after Iwata or something? This is really amateur stuff.

Well we shouldn't expect Nintendo's online to be that great anyways, it's not like they have 2 world class systems that they could learn and draw from lol.

The thing that bugs me is that the Wii U went barren for like the last year. And this conference is all they had to show in terms of software?

Really, and totally seriously, where are the games?

And people used the Switch to excuse Nintendo for having next to no games on WiiU.

The 300 dollar pricetag is a killer. 3 hours ago I was ready to pre order but now IDK man. At least I won't have to look hard to find one.

Of course it'll be 250 by the time next gen Pokemon drops in 2018 so it might work out.

How many games do you need? Zelda, Splatoon, Mario kart, and Mario Odyssey will be more than enough to play this year.

Idk how people find time to finish so many games. I can get though like 10 big games a year if I'm lucky.

I personally don't need that many games, Smash and/or Pokemon and I'm completely set. Those four games you listed though? Not an ounce of interest in my entire body. The current line-up just isn't that impressive.

Arms at least has graphics, how the fuck is a free iPhone game like 1,2 switch 49.99 Lol!!

Same shit they did with the Wii U. We were expecting this amazing lineup after the wii being dead for years, instead we got Nintendoland....

1,2 Switch is the sort of thing that would make a fine pack in, being something a casual audience might latch onto while also having novelty for the more invested gamer.
As a stand alone product it is utterly dead.

The most disappointing thing about this whole thing is that there is no pack in.
A well chosen pack in can define a console, expand the reach of ideas that might be overlooked, can give all customers a unified experience.

Got my console, BotW and Splatoon 2 preordered.

Because they were not ready period. If they had waited till summer even they would have been fine.

they're milking us :(

I didn't think it was a horrendous as others, but one has to think they're holding back some games (and the rumors suggest as much) for E3. Which seems like a mistake.

I can easily see this being a 3DS situation, with a slow start that building into a respectable user base.

That was terrible. Just terrible. Almost like naming your console a WiiU terrible.

How hard is it to do 20 minutes of tech talk, and then a sizzle reel of 20-30 games. Nothing released on the WiiU this year. Nintendo should have a lot to show.

Xenoblade 2 looked terrible. It looked like it was reusing Wii/3DS Assets.

Essentilly the Switch is a 100 dollar tablet + 200 dollars worth of accessories.

Yeah, 1,2,Switch is kinda ridiculous at that price. But, Arms is supposed to be deep and replayable, so I'm not shocked at the price. I think Arms looks pretty neat, to be honest! And also: Bomberman! And SFII! And Puyo Pop Tetris! And Sonic Mania! Where were these in the presentation? Or MK8 Deluxe?! I'm super hyped for the Switch, but that presentation had some odd problems. If Splatoon adds bots, screw paid online.

So... what the hell is going to happen to Virtual Console? What about WiiU digital games bought? Thy didn't answer a ton of shit but make way for Yakuza guy and Suda51 to talk anything and show nothing.

The wording only seems unclear to you because it's not telling you what you want to hear. Again, if the Switch could do voice chat and party natively, in the OS, what exactly would be the point of the App? And more importantly, what would be the point of only mentioning said app as a means of doing it? It's pretty clear from their wording as well as their bullet point chart that the App will be necessary for voice chat and party invites.

First, what are talking about "what I want to here"? I'm not a 12 year old Nintendo fanboy. Grow up with that console wars shit. I'm trying to be analytical and figure out what's going on.

Second, I didn't say anything about 'natively in the OS'. I said via an app which Switch will also likely be able to run. THAT is a very Nintendo thing to do (like they do with WiiU, essentially).

The two reasons you gave are;

1) Technical OS reasons
2) Nintendo thinks kids don't have phones

1 doesn't exist in 2017 and 2 isn't true otherwise they wouldn't have released Pokemon Go.

And like I said YOU MIGHT BE RIGHT, but until I here a valid plausible reason and see "Chat and invites not available on console" written in black and white, I'll wait before losing my shit, thanks.

You arent overreacting at all.

I agree. Nintendo's narrative just doesn't add up here. Especially after they delayed the launch of the system so they could have more games. I hope they'll fill the blanks in the coming days and weeks though.
